My Past Life? Or Someone Else’s?

The book contained events that had not yet happened yet. While it did tell every bit of what happened to Lin Xiaohui in her past 20 years up til now, it also wrote about what would happen in the future.

Such as next week, she would be featured in Shen Wuying's music video. The filming would take 5 days. On set, Zhong Yanmei, the villainess who hated her—Lin Xiaohui—would grow crazy with jealousy over how close Lin Xiaohui was getting to Shen Wuying. Zhong Yanmei planned for an accident to occur on set that would injure Lin Xiaohui.

However, her plans went terribly wrong and Shen Wuying ended up being the victim. Just as the huge and heavy prop fell on him, Lin Xiaohui covered him and shielded him with her own body. Lucky for her, she ended up without getting hurt and instead gained Shen Wuying's trust and affection.

That was how she got her first suitor. From then on, Shen Wuying fell in love and chased after her along with the 3 others.

The other 3 had similar experiences on why they fell for Lin Xiaohui. As they interacted more, she learned about each of the four men's problems and helped solve them all, but this was all irrelevant to her. As someone who was not interested in being with a man, their feelings would never be reciprocated in reality.

The Lin Xiaohui in the book was not a lesbian and chose one of the 4 men in the end, but the current Lin Xiaohui would never do the same.

She knew the contents but what she wanted now was answers.

Was this her past life? How come she was straight?

Was this really just a fan fiction by a stalker? No, there were details about her childhood that were way too accurate for a stalker to guess, even if they knew her from way back then. It even included side stories about how her father and mother met, all being accurate to reality.

Lin Xiaohui felt so confused and shaken up.

Were they the same, but two very different people? She had so many questions yet no answers.

While Lin Xiaohui could not excuse Zhong Yanmei's actions towards herself in the book, as she read on, she also learned about Zhong Yanmei's background.

As a baby, Zhong Yanmei was abandoned by her mother. She was raised by a sick and elderly old man who had found her hidden in the garbage while picking up trash. The two of them lived by picking up trash but this was barely enough to feed one of them. The old man couldn't even afford to send her to school.

It was when she was 10 that her biological father found her. He took her from the old man by force and blackmailed her using the old man. As long as she became his heiress, he would not hurt the old man. However, she needed to prove herself and she did this by enrolling into top schools and getting the best grades in her classes.

Zhong Yanmei kept up her beautiful appearance in front of the public for nine years.

Everything was great until she entered university. During her first year, she was always first place in the grade. In her second year, Lin Xiaohui entered X university.

It was because of Lin Xiaohui that she could not her place, and her biological father punished her. He ordered people to beat up the old man in front of her and warned her to keep up her public appearance or else he would kill the old man next.

Unfortunately, Lin Xiaohui had the protagonist's halo and her spot as number one was secured. Zhong Yanmei could not beat her and once again, she had to witness the old man get beat until he was hospitalized. She swore she would overtake Lin Xiaohui, but this never happened, and eventually the old man died. In order to keep a hold on Zhong Yanmei, her father did not tell her of the old man's death and instead continued to blackmail her until her demise at the end of the book.

When Zhong Yanmei learned the truth, she immediately commit suicide.

Such a pitiful young girl had such a sad backstory, it was no wonder she did such evil actions. She was doing everything she could to protect her only family.

Lin Xiaohui sighed before clasping her hands.

"Zhong Yanmei, I'll help you! I promise!"
