54 Potentially Failing the Velma Quest?!

It's been a week and there's been no mysteries. On the upside however, the teachers started giving Chris chances to impress Velma which he all took in a heartbeat. Slowly it started to work. The once dull conversations turned a bit more lively during the walk in the hallway. However, Chris knew it wasn't the end yet.

'I just need a little push,' Chris thought as he went to the next class with Velma. When school ended, the rest of the gang were already in the Mystery Machine.

"Hey guys, let's pack up! We're going on a trip this weekend!" Daphne said.

"Wait what?!" Velma asked as she got into the van.

"Yeah, like my uncle Tom asked if we wanted to go to his hotel that he just opened since it's a 3-day weekend. It's only like 30 minutes away by driving and he said he's giving us 2 VIP room, free food, and free access to the water park for the entire three day weekend!" Shaggy said. "By the way, the food is being cooked by Chef Michael Woods and we're having a VIP dining room the entire time! And to top it all off, we're having dinner with him on the day we get there!"

"Michael Woods?!" Velma exclaimed. "You mean the chef that has a 3 star Michelin restaurant and wrote one of the most popular best selling horror book of all time?! I have his book "Spirits Here"at home! We're going on this trip!" Velma said maniacally.

'How does he have a 3 star Michelin restaurant and write a popular novel. Is he Lin Fan? More importantly, Velma is a huge fangirl. Should I decline going to the trip. I mean would my words have some impact here,' Chris thought.

"Wait Shaggy, you didn't tell me Michael Woods is going to be there. Oh my gosh, he's so handsome!" Daphne shouted. Chris looked at Fred's face which was full of jealousy. When they arrived at Shaggy and Scooby's house, the hangout for the day, they looked at each other and tried to decline the invitation.

"Oh, you know girls, we might have a mystery here so it might be wise to stay put for the 3 day weekend. You know scouting things out," Chris said.

"Yeah, who knows. Maybe an evil clown or a revived dinosaur might appear. We have to help the people of Hotsville!" Fred said.

"You are not declining!" Velma and Daphne both said together at the same time. They looked at each other and high-fived.

'Shit this isn't going to work out,' Chris looked at Shaggy and Scooby briefly, but lost hope as he already knew the answer.

Chris tapped Fred's shoulder and they turned around.

"This isn't going to work out. Shaggy and Scooby are already imagining the feast at the hotel. We're going to have to go," Chris whispered.

"Yeah I know," Fred said while sighing. "Well, we'll have to take whatever comes at us. At least you have a chance. I know Velma is cute, but Daphne is considered the "hot one". She has a higher chance of being hit on by this Michael Woods guy,"

"I know. Well we both have to try our best don't we," Chris said as he tapped on Fred's shoulder. They hung out for the day and ate Shaggy and Scooby's gigantic pizza that the two made on their own for 3 hours and around 9, Fred took them all home.

Back at home, Chris started packing up some basic things like a swimsuit, clothes, and sunscreen that was all conveniently in his room. He had already gotten his parents' permission and they even said they wanted to go with him as they haven't gone a vacation, but Chris dissuaded them by saying that a place like Paris or Las Vegas was a much better place to go as a romantic vacation.

'Hey System, how much of the main quest have I finished?' Chris asked.

-Host, you have not even gotten 5% of the quest finished as of yet. That stopwatch is merely the first out of many clues.-

'Alright, exactly what am I supposed to do with 40. It could be anything. 40 miles, a population of 40 people, 40 minutes, 40 anything!'

-The answer will come eventually.-

The System didn't go much further with that leaving Chris extremely frustrated. Not only is there a chance that his progress with Velma will dissipate from seeing Michael Woods, the quest isn't going any further.

Chris sighed and stopped thinking about it entirely. He simply just went to bed and tried sleeping it off.

It was the next day and around 8 A.M., Fred called Chris.

"I'm out the front door. Get your stuff and come," Fred said.

Chris said goodbye to his parents and left the house. When he got into the van, Daphne and Velma were talking fanatically about Michael Woods. Daphne wore purple one piece while Velma dressed up in a orange one piece dress.

"Velma and Daphne, you both look great today," Chris said.

"Thanks Chris," Daphne said. "We were on the phone until 12 last night trying to figure out what to wear for the next three days. We can't show up and meet Michael Woods with the stuff we wear everyday,"

Chris eyes twitched a little regretting that he complimented the two. He also saw that Fred also shook a little showing that he was also a bit shaken up by the fact that the two girls spent hours trying to figure out 3 outfits.

During the entire ride, Chris believed that God has abandoned both him and Fred as there was traffic on the way to Shaggy uncle Tom's hotel and so the entire trip lasted an hour. During that hour all Chris and Fred could hear was Shaggy and Scooby eating burgers and more importantly, Daphne and Velma talking about him for the entire hour.
