26 Guild Troubles

" Make sure to stay alert at night!" Iris Warned Dave before she left for her home. She lives nearby the guild along with her family, and her parent still does not allow her to independently settle somewhere separately.

Before Dave came here, She used to hire adventurers to guard the guild in the nighttime, but to save the expense she told Dave to take care of the security from now on. One thing was sure, that the girl was quite troublesome, she was a very talkative person and sometimes very threatening.

Dave had a tiring day and he wanted to rest so he knew that he would not be able to guard the place at night. He did the only thing possible and activated a large [ Invisible barrier] to cover the entire guild with it. The mana used to create this large barrier was 8 units in total, it was worth it if he could sleep without any worries and it would replenish overnight anyway.

The next morning Dave got up late and heard someone scream.

" Jin!....Wake Upppppp!" A girl was screaming his name. He quickly opened the window from the top floor and looked down, a crowd of local people was gathered in front of the building.

He quickly realized his mistake of waking up late and ran downstairs.

" Ouch!" As soon as Jin opened the door, Iris who was beating her hands on the door because of being impatient, slapped his face by mistake.

" You are finally here! Lazy Bum!" She spoke.

" Hey, I was tired, and why are you acting like this? You could have waited outside." He spoke as he massaged his face.

" I have paperwork to handle, I told you right, about the issue with the local government." She barged onto the second floor of her office.

" Hey, do you mind if I go out today?" He asked. " I want to check some of the things."

" Who's supposed to work then? Wear some decent clothes and come to the office, For god's sake, you are the manager!" She spoke angrily and she had every reason to be angry because Dave had done something, she had specifically told him to not do, that is to irritate her.

He sighed and then went to change his clothes.

Coming down back to the second floor, there was the main office room, as he walked inside he could see his desk and in the corner a smaller desk where Iris was sitting. She had a lot of papers on her desk and seemed to be writing something like a letter.

Dave got to her Desk and saw what she was doing.

The Government office of the town was threatening to take away their license because the guild didn't have enough members. Oscar had paid a lot of money as a bribe to delay it as much as he can but in the end, he gave up as he only had to face losses.

Listening to Everything, finally Dave realized that Oscar was expecting Dave to somehow find a solution for it. The reason why he made him the manager was maybe because of the same reason as well. After all, Oscar knew Dave's previous life.

" We just have to recruit people, right?" Dave asked.

" And who do you think will join a guild like ours? All we can offer is the base pay, we don't even have any quests from any clients except for the general Quests!" She spoke.

" What is A General Quest?" Dave asked.

" ...Maybe you haven't been an adventurer for long," She spoke and then added, " You see we are what people call a private adventurers guild, and there is a public guild managed by the Duchy. They issue public quests in which any Guild can participate."

" Do they give rewards?" He asked.

" Rewards, yes! why wouldn't they?" She answered, " These quests have an A Rank difficulty level."

" What kind of requests are they?" He asked for more information.

" Sigh*, These are mainly subjugation quests," She said and took out some papers on which the quest details were mentioned.

There were three quests, related to the subjugation of high-level monsters in the nearby forest which was known as the Jade Garden. A place where Monsters have an easy time evolving themselves and sustaining longer lives.

Dave asked Iris about what could be the stats of these monsters, she was annoyed by so many questions but she answered as if it was her job to guide him. These monsters are normally dealt with by a party of adventurers around level 30 or 40. So By comparison, one needs to have at least 10-20 stat to defeat these monsters.

" Don't you think people would like to Join our guild if I manage to complete one of these quests," Dave spoke.

" You are crazy if you think you can survive against these monsters! You need a party of 5 A rank adventures or at least one S-rank adventurer in your party to fight them."

" I think I can manage it on my own, just give me these papers!" He said as he snatched the papers of the quests. She looked at him with a clear shock.

" The Dimond Crusher Ant Soldier, The Three horned fire wold, and Lava Turtles" Dave read the names. " Where can I get more information about these monsters?"

" Don't tell me you are serious about it?" She said it while making a weird face,

" I am serious!" He answered.

" What makes you think that you could defeat a monster that many adventurers in the town avoid? I have already told you how strong you need to be, you would be crazy to do something like that after knowing everything."

Hearing this 1 himself if he was doing this under the influence of something like the [ Mark Of Death]. But, he didn't believe or completely dismissed the thought that was the case.

' Whatever I am doing is because I want to, that weird item put some weird ideas about me being manipulated.' He thought.

" I am doing this because I can," Dave answered her.
