The Capitals Interference

Again and again, reports flood the offices of the capital. Every day starts with huge piles of papers that have to be gone by the end of the day. Over and over without a break.

It only makes sense for the paperwork to stack up every day. The kingdom was in a most impactful era, surely one that would be talked about for the ages.

With an almost relentless amount of declared wars, the Katursh Kingdom is also going through an almost relentless amount of paperwork.

However, that wouldn't even be the most impactful thing to happen. The Heros were summoned. It was truly news that must have reached almost everyone in the kingdom. Even more, crazy things seem to keep popping up.

But for someone as unimportant as Daou he would never get any reports concerning those matters. He had even caught himself hoping to get a disturbing report of a horrible event. Anything to break up the boredom.

Daou picks up a piece of paper and sighs. All that would reach his desk are trivial matters in even more trivial towns. The paper in his hand only enforced these beliefs.

A report concerning rough roads and broken stonework. A level 0 incident but since the army was just in that location it only makes sense for a little bit of compensation. Daou picked up the green stamp and stamped the paper.

The next matter was also trivial.

It seems a tier 1 mage was causing some trouble. The second weakest tier…

It wasn't even a concerning problem, he had seen this countless times before. A rebellious apprentice mage attempted to go against the kingdom by hiding away.

Even this was simple to fix. The information network allowed Daou to know the mages' ruff location. After that, all was needed to send someone out to detain them. So Daou stamped it with a green stamp.

Lastly, Daou started to read another report but just to prove his point further, he takes the time to read past the rundown section. Usually, that's all he would need to get the gist of what to do but doing it for just one couldn't hurt.

He read the report out loud.

"Mysterious figures that hide in the shadows. The shadow twins they call them. They have been causing some commotion for a little while now and would like the capital's help." Daou said as he read the report out loud.

Hmm, Simple bandits? A problem that shouldn't be too hard to fix. Normally it would be up to the local governor. Why ask for capital's guidance? Daou thought this while he read the report scornfully.

"There is little known about these twins but the information we have goes as follows. They were both seen in the middle of the city at the town center on the day of the 28th. The figures resemble the bodies of a young man and a teenage girl. They were put on the watch list after being chased down and disappearing."

Hmm, so they managed to escape. Another rebellious mage situation? Of course not seems more like an unforgiving family situation. However, he couldn't guess for sure so Daou kept reading trying to get more answers.

"One of the twins, the smaller one, has been seen very little. There is evidence they have daily activities but there is no sure evidence of this. The buying of odd items at the market can be tracked down to a hooded figure, which is most likely them. Other information is unknown."

Unknown? What the hell do they mean unknown? It's been a month since the 28th and this is all they know? Daou got more interested as he read through the report.

"The other twin has a bit more information on him. It's been rumored he has set up a black market for gems. The whereabouts of the selling spot is unknown. They do seem more active than the other one as there has been more spottings of them. However, every attempt to spot them with anyone but a lower class has fallen in vain."

Daou questioned the report he was reading. This whole situation was way out of hand for just some bandits. How long has this been going on for? A month? Ridiculous.

"There have been two attempts to acquire them. One attempt with a 5th-tier mage and the second with the two heroes. Both have come up short."

Daou couldn't believe it. A 5th-tier mage and the heroes were unable to capture them? It's easy to brush off the heroes since they were inexperienced but the 5th tier? There's no way. What game do they think they're playing?!

"Lastly we require a true intervention from the capital. A level 3 incident will be invoked if this request is not granted. Our safety is in your hands." Daou finishes reading the report.

He takes a minute. Standing, he just looks at the report. The silence is only broken when he slightly chuckles to himself.

With a small smirk on his face, he reaches for a stamp and presses down on the paper. The request would be granted. The capital will personally interfere with this small town.

"How close I was to missing such an interesting situation. In fact, I think I'll head there myself as well" Daou says as he leaves the room with the report in his hands.

Instead of just sending one or two people this matter would be handled with many highly experienced individuals and a good size of the personal guard.

The capital and Daou himself would personally see what was causing such a ruckus in this small town.
