Chapter-2:Why is it nerfed?!

"... F*CK you! I can still the pain!! But I'll have to say yes to your deal."(Niel)

He said with confidence and a very angry tone while he shook the hand of the skeleton.

The blue flames began to spread through Niel's right arm, then his neck, back, left arm, and face, the creature didn't seem bothered or surprised by what happened but Niel on the other hand, had a very uncomfortable expression of terror, but as he tried to pull his hand back the skeleton didn't budge at all.

The flames didn't seem to be necessarily hurting him at first, but as time passed the heat started increasing on his body until it became an unbearable burning pain, he felt it as if his skin was getting burned out but there weren't any changes on the outside, as the flames continue to stand on his skin unmoved.

{Oh yes, I didn't mention it before but the process is very painful since your soul is only at the mortal stage. But please bear with it, I assure you you'll get adequate compensation for it.}

The creature said nonchalantly as it continued writing while Niel's screams of pain once again filled the room.

"Aaaaarrrrrrggghhhghhhhghh!!!!"(Niel)

Niel's pain continued for a while but eventually, the blue flames disappeared, and what was left was this very specific tattoo pattern, that went from his arms to back to face and it looked very interesting.

Tired from this experience, Niel is breathing heavily as he lets go of the creature's hand that no longer holds onto him, since the process of the contract is complete, and now what is left is for Niel to get his so deserved reward or at least he thinks so.

"After this, in case I don't get anything worth it... I'm throwing hands with you even if it kills me."(Niel)

He said with a weak voice as he seems to still be affected by the painful process he just experienced.

Even though Niel is trying to seem as unbothered and calm as he can his still shaking body betrays him, after all the pain he felt, and still feels some lingering amounts of is not something just anyone would take and still be able to joke about it.

The creature snaps its bony fingers from its freehand, and a floating screen appears right in front of Niel, then it starts talking.

The list wasn't very big but all the special abilities in it seem to be useful in some way, Niel looked at this list completely focused and interested, and even he expected something good this is way beyond his expectations as this is actually making him stop to consider, which one of these special abilities is the best for him.

"Hum... I have a basic understanding of them just looking at the names, but can I get a more detailed explanation of how each of them works before I choose?"(Niel)

Niel says finding himself quite indecisive with the lack of knowledge on how any of these abilities works, yes he might know their effect to an extent just by reading the name of the ability, but that doesn't mean he knows how they work, what if the abilities have some kind of drawback that makes it less attractive.

As the creature said so, Niel was pleased and then confused at the way it views ten hours to make the choice.

"How does time control work?"(Niel)

Niel asked as he skipped a few skills and went directly to the first 'Interesting' ability.

{The ability has low control over time and allows you to stop, revert, and advance time by 1s with a cooldown of one month or 31 days more specifically. That is of course the limit for level 1.}

In a tone of complete disinterest, the creature said to Niel.

"It's tempting, but that cooldown is atrocious! Also, when you say level you're implying that this world is a game like world?"(Niel)

The interest of Niel in this situation grew the more the talk continued.

In other words, you're limited while in a world like Origo, which is a stage 1 world, where you can tap into some of that soul potential through the act of leveling up.}

{Simple, it's an appraisal ability that allows you to see the information of everything and everyone as long as you have the right level, and the amount of information you get depends on the level you have the ability, it's quite practical as a first ability.}

"That's a safe bet, I'll leave it aside for now. The next is instant death"(Niel)

{You can only use this ability if the target is no more than ten levels above yours and targets with ten levels more than you won't be affected. It also has a one-week cooldown. As for its effects, it instantly kills the target unless the target has resistance or it's ten levels higher than you.}

"The limitation and the cooldown time of these abilities is a total letdown, especially considering there are creatures resistant to it. Go on with Immortal."(Niel)

{That one makes you immune to aging and increases your regeneration ability considerably, so basically, you no longer age and are harder to kill, on the other side of it, you now need to consume a substantial amount of food when you use the regeneration.}

"This is one is very tempting... I'll listen to all the rest before making my choice."(Niel)

Niel decided after listening to the ones that caught his attention the most.

The creature began explaining the rest of the abilities one by one:

Weak point detection as the name, says is an ability that allows its user to detect the weaknesses on the target.

Spatial control allows you to store items in a pocket dimension, move objects as long as they are not too heavy or big, and even short-distance teleportation all that at a high mana cost.

Instantaneous Teleportation allows you to teleport to any location you've been to, at a certain amount of mana, and even places you've never been to at a much higher cost.

Haki a powerful spiritual pressure technique that allows you to suppress anyone with a lower level, and intimidate individuals at the same level it has little to no effect on those of higher level, depending on the level difference.

No sleep, this ability stops the accumulation of fatigue and you no longer need to sleep.

No hunger, you no longer need to eat.

Imitation(copy skills), allows you to copy the skills, abilities, and techniques of others to a certain extent.

Face change, a shape-shifting ability that allows you to change your appearance permanently with some limitations, and also any changes made are reversible.

Invisibility, with this ability you can become invisible for 5 minutes and it has a one-day cooldown.

Genderbend allows you to change your gender as you please, the appearance will depend on your initial outlook and the cooldown is one day.

Godly charm as its name says, will enhance your beauty and outlook, making you more attractive and draw attention to you. It can also be used to put a target into a hypnotic state, where the user has great influence in their actions for a few hours. The charming ability can only be used once a day.

Hypnosis(brainwashing) allows you to permanently or temporarily hypnotize a target through physical contact.

Universal language is an ability that lets the user speak, read and write in any language.

Weapon master gives you the ability to use any weapon to a certain extent.

Stealth ghost for 5 seconds your existence is completely erased, the cooldown is of one week.

Spiritualization(astral form) allows you to leave your body with your soul and explore the world from the astral side, a soul that doesn't return to its body in a week will lose its connection to it.

Godspeed with this ability you can move at a very high speed.

Hunter with this ability, the more you kill of a specific race, the better you'll become at killing them with bonuses added.

"If it weren't for the terrible cooldown some of these have my choice would have been much harder, but I still have to listen to the last one."(Niel)

He said after having listened to every ability on the list except one.

The creature kept speaking with the least amount of interest possible while moving its free hand to make gestures.

"Wait? What exactly is the [System]? Is it like in those novels I've read? Where it's an A.I that helps the main character?"(Niel)

*sighs*

Niel sighs and shakes his head.

"I'll definitely regret this decision, but I chose this [System]."(Niel)

{As expected, greed like that might be your fall.}

"Or it might be what keeps me alive, we can't know that yet... Unless you can see into the future that is."(Niel)

Just as the creature was talking after ignoring what Niel said, another floating window popped up in front of Niel.

Then right after, before Niel could even say anything another window popped up.

Just as Niel pressed the [Now] button a new window appeared and this one had a giant wheel with multiple prizes written on it.

The moment the wheel appeared it started rotating and while that was happening Niel decided to ask something.

"This world, Origo, does it only exist because of the game?"(Niel)

{Of course not, this world has existed for quite a while, not as long as earth but not too far from it either. The person making your so-called game must have been inspired by actual Origo during the connection period.}

"What connection period?"(Niel)

{From time to time worlds get connected and some lucky people get to experience those worlds, now connected to theirs, through dreams.}

Hearing this Niel felt slightly better as it would be weird to be part of a world that was just a game, even if he never got to play it.
