1. A Day To Forget

Iris Morgan did not expect to have such an awful day. It started out like any other. She got ready for work and drove the distance. Inside the marketing agency she half-owned with her best friend Patty Lane, she received an unusual welcome. Pink balloons were everywhere. A sign across the front desk read "Congratulations Patty and Brian." Iris was confused.

"Come join the party," Patty beckoned.

Iris followed her into the break room.

Patty signaled for everyone to get quiet as she was about to make a speech.

"Thank you everyone for helping celebrate my engagement to Brian. Also, please be kind to him as he is your new co-boss from here on out."

Iris's jaw dropped. As far as her best friend told her, Patty only met Brian a week ago. She must have just gotten engaged in the past 24 hours since Iris and Patty last met.

Suck...

How can she suddenly lose her spot at the company too?

As if Patty read her mind, she had quietly flowed right in front of Iris.

"Iris, sorry for the sudden notice of you losing your job. Brian is a lawyer and noticed that our partnership was not legal in paperwork. It makes more sense for my husband to own this place with me. Enjoy the party but please pack your things by the end of the day."

Iris wanted to rebuttal or say something but she tended to be more reserved and less impulsive and Patty knew it. Patty had walked away and was talking with her secretary about wedding decisions.

Iris was so mad that she made an impulsive decision. She walked to her office and packed all her things into boxes then left the building. Regaining a little control, Iris decided to take her boxes home first. She ended up spending her day watching re-runs of the FoodStuff channel and eating all the sweets in her house.

"Coming up next is Best of Bars. In this episode we will be going to Dallas and joining Chef and owner Antoine Gastropf at his bar Bite On Bar."

Iris grabbed her keys and left to go to the bar. God knows she needed a drink or twenty.

When Iris arrived at Bite On Bar, the place was busy. Apparently more than just her had experienced an awful day. She looked for a quiet corner and sat down in the back.

Before long, a friendly female server came to ask for her order. She ordered a Cosmo. She needed to keep it light. But as Iris saw Patty and Brian enter the establishment, she changed her mind. She called back the waiter and ordered the strongest drink they had. She came back with a giant glass filled with liquor. Iris downed the drink so fast. She immediately needed the restroom. However she was already beyond drunk. She missed the women's bathroom door and instead went into the back alley.

She saw the guy from the commercial leaning against the wall chilling. Against her better judgement, Iris walked right over and started kissing him deeply.

Antoine in shock, attempted to take advantage of this moment to feed off her blood. He was the King of the Dallas area Vampires. He was starving from working hard tonight. However when he went to bite, suddenly Iris had unzipped his pants. She was undressing him and herself. Normally Antoine would have cringed and pushed away this stupid human fast. Yet, he needed a distraction and was willing to join Iris.

After the deed was done, Antoine whispered into her ear and compelled: "You will forget whatever happened this night." Except Antoine slurred his words. He actually said "You will forget whatever happens at nights."

Iris was gone and Antoine didn't know his mistake. He walked back into the bar to get back to work.

Six weeks later....

Iris could not get a new job. Marketing was all about pleasing the clients. Every time she went out to entertain a client and get information to sign a contract she would forget everything that happened. In fact she kept forgetting everything that happened at nights. Almost like a switch she would forget everything after 5 pm until she woke up in the morning. Marketing companies were not happy with her performance. She was also suddenly getting nauseous every morning too. She had no job. She had been to numerous doctors who could not figure out what was wrong with her head.

As far as for her nausea, it was determined that she was pregnant. Some doctors told her that she might have experienced trauma from when she had sex. Some supposedly thinking she might have been raped. But Iris didn't think that was the case. She was always overly careful to avoid dangerous situations.

Despite now being jobless, pregnant, having amnesia, and almost homeless (if she couldn't keep a job), none of that bothered Iris. She was much more concerned that in the mornings she had been finding blood in her mouth, on her face, and on her clothes. Something kept happening at night. Something possibly dangerous. Something including lots of blood. Iris didn't even know the half of it. The truth was too beyond her strict uptight self to see the possibility of something magical. Something about vampires.
