1 Get Married Together

It was the summer of the year 2XXX when Li Ruyan went out of her apartment with a cheerful smile on her face. She had just finished baking a birthday cake early this afternoon.

And just like every May 5th of the year, she had baked a simple strawberry cake where the words 'Happy 23rd Birthday' was written in chocolate icing.

She was very prepared and had dressed up nicely, wanting to surprise and impress her boyfriend of four years. Yes, four years.

Today, was their four-year anniversary.

Li Ruyan felt giddy thinking about it as she got inside her car and placed the cake on the empty seat beside her. She had placed it inside a blue box since it was her boyfriend's favorite color.

The dress she was wearing was also a light blue color that matched her skin tone and hair. It was a simple off-shoulder dress that ended just below her knees, giving her a youthful glow.

Despite being 22, Li Ruyan still looked very young in the eyes of people. It wouldn't be a surprise if they said she was only 18 or 19 due to her beauty and youthful appearance.

Happiness is the best cosmetic and alongside Li Ruyan's excited smile, it made her appear more beautiful than normal, captivating any people that would glance at her.

Still feeling happy, she started the engine and went to drive towards the restaurant where her boyfriend was at. He was currently at a meeting and was about to finish up soon.

She wanted to surprise him tonight. It was only seven in the evening. A perfect time to go out for dinner.

Min Yue.

A handsome name for a handsome man. He was the man that Li Ruyan had loved for four long years. They met in college during early April which was springtime.

Li Ruyan had met him when he was at his lowest. It was an unexpected counter that no one expected and granted, it was also not the most romantic encounter.

It was because Min Yue at that time was lying on an alleyway near her apartment.

He was injured and bleeding, and probably on the verge of death, too. She did not know what happened to him but when she saw the hopeless look on his eyes and the dried tears on his face, an expression where he was already about to give up his life, Li Ruyan did not hesitate and immediately went to help him.

She could not stand seeing an injured and dying person when she was capable of helping them.

He had struggled and told her to leave him alone but how could Li Ruyan do something so heartless like that?

So regardless of his feelings, she took him to her apartment and nursed him to health. She was not even aware that he was attending the same college as her and was also a student in the business department.

She had entertained calling the hospital or an ambulance but Min Yue had strongly refused and threatened to off himself if she called for a doctor.

Li Ruyan was still quite naive back then so she followed his wishes and didn't call for help. Instead, with her own efforts, she helped in disinfecting and bandaging his wounds.

She visited a lot of clinics and learned a few basic aid treatments. She also went to consult a TCM doctor. It had not been easy to get ahold of medicinal herbs on her own since she was entirely clueless about the subject but with a lot of research and professional help, Li Ruyan eventually learned and for two months, Min Yue recovered in her care.

He was quite a stubborn person and Li Ruyan had struggled in helping him.

Afterall, it was hard to help a man who didn't want to receive any help.

Min Yue's stubbornness was also unrivaled. Li Ruyan had to summon all the patience in her body just to attend to him.

Whether it be his clothes, food, or bedding, he complained and obsessed over everything. Li Ruyan remained patient and never raised her voice against him.

She was quite sensitive to his feelings and had long known that he was suffering from something. Whether it was a family member's death, a broken relationship or financial issues, Min Yue had kept quiet but with his actions alone, Li Ruyan could tell that he had been despairing.

A promising young man with a bright future wouldn't just give up on his life unless something major had happened to him.

Moreover, the beatings and life-threatening injuries he received already told her that he must have or atleast he had offended someone and got into a fight.

Nevertheless, Li Ruyan wisely kept quiet and never asked him since it was obviously a sensitive topic that an outsider like her didn't have the privilege to ask.

This issue passed away quickly and soon, Min Yue left one day without a word. Li Ruyan only met him again at college and that was the place and time where their love began to blossom.

It wasn't an easy journey since Li Ruyan had to deal with Min Yue's temper and stubbornness most of the time. But alas, she persevered, and eventually, Min Yue fell for her and chased her relentlessly.

The two of them were inlove and became the campus couple that everyone admired.

They had been each other's first love and had experienced many of their firsts together.

"Yanyan, I really like you a lot. Once we graduate, let's get married together." Min Yue told her one time in which she quickly agreed, ready to enter a deeper level of commitment with him.

Li Ruyan had fantasized about it a lot, their marriage that is. It was a pity that they had to wait for a year due to Min Yue's sudden career issues.
