38 Chapter 38 - Full Moon Shot

Three days have passed, and the war is still ongoing. There has been no appearance of the Demon King or Demon Lord; only their weaker soldiers have been seen. The sun has set on this day, and the moon now illuminates the night.

The night they have been waiting for has arrived, the night to destroy the Demon's fortress. It's the night when they will witness what lies behind that fortress.

The full moon floats in the sky on this night. Shara and Ray stand at a specially prepared location.

"Hurry up, old man!" Raqnid impatiently says to Wells.

"Yeah, yeah, relax!"

Raqnid and Wells, who arrived in Mardi after day three of war, have just joined the scene.

"Why you're so slow, old man! The battle has already started," Raqnid remarks.

"You the one who fast! …Don't worry; the real battle is just about to begin!" Wells reassures him, then his gaze fixed on his granddaughter, Princess Shara.

Raqnid looks in the same direction. *Shara! Ray!* he thought. Both of them only see Shara and the Hero from the top of the hill.

"The time has come!"

"Princess Shara! Are you ready?"

"Ready!" Shara answer.

"Hero Ray!"

"Yes, ready!" Ray replied.

"Both of you may begin!"

"Princess Shara!" Lyn seems worried about Shara.

*You can do it, Shara!* King Nolan says in his mind.

Princess Shara and Ray sit in their respective positions. Ray faces away from Shara, and vice versa. Shara raises her right hand, pointing it towards the Demon realm. Ray does the same with his left hand. Both hands are raised in the same way, forming an imaginary bowstring as if preparing to shoot an arrow. Shara holds the arrow with her right hand, while Ray uses his left hand. Their movements must be synchronized to create the perfect moonshot.

The special magic circles engraved on the ground start to glow. The moonlight begins to shine upon them. Over time, the shape of a large glowing arrow forms in their hands, along with a smaller arrow. They both hold a single, large arrow, and a magic circle appears in front of their arrows. The smaller arrow becomes brighter, resembling the light of the moon. From a distance, it looks like there is a second moon.

The magical circle in front of them begins to glow, gradually rotating clockwise. After a minute, the magical circle is fully illuminated, indicating a full moon. It's time.

Shara's eyes meet Ray's, and they nod at each other, signaling that they are ready to unleash the attack.

"Full Moon Shot!"

'ZHOOOOOSH!' The bowstring is released. The attack they conjured rushes towards the Demon realm. The arrow looks like a massive shining star, glowing white and twinkling.

Everyone's attention is focused on the arrow, including the Demon soldiers. Their hearts beat rapidly as they witness this, as it is the first step in the mission to kill the Demon King. If they fail, their hopes will be crushed.

"HIYARGHH!!!" The Unity soldiers become even more spirited in their attacks.

"Leon!" Demon King speaks.

"Understood, my Lord!" Demon Lord Leon replies with a grin.

'DOOM!'

"What's that?"

"Hehehe! Your arrow won't be able to destroy our fortress! GARGGGHH!" Demon Lord Leon deflects the moonshot.

"What is he doing there?" King Nolan speaks.

"He's trying to block the moonshot!" Albert says.

"Huh?" Princess Shara clenches her fist.

"Damn!" Ray declares.

Everyone looks worried as they witness this. If the moonshot can be stopped, all hope will be lost.

Demon Lord Leon continues to resist the attack with both of his hands. He creates a large shield to block it. "Hiyarghh!" A minute passes, and the moonshot is still unstoppable. Demon Lord Leon appears to be feeling the impact, growing weaker over time. "Why is this thing so powerful?"

"Please!" Rose pleads, along with others, hoping their attack will succeed.

Little by little, Demon Lord Leon's shield is penetrated.

'Dooom,' the shield shatters.

"GARGGGHH!!!" The arrow pierces Demon Lord Leon's chest.

"GOOO!!!" everyone shouts.

'ZHOOOOOSH.'

The moonshot is almost reaching the Demon fortress, bringing Demon Lord Leon stuck to the arrow. Smiles appear on everyone's faces, but it doesn't last long.

"GARGGGHH!!! IT'S NOT OVER YET!" Demon Lord Leon holds onto the arrow with both hands, stopping it once again.

"NOOO!"

"Heh (smirking), I won't die in vain. MY LORD, witness my loyalty until the end. HIYARGHH!" A dark power begins to form around Demon Lord Leon.

"What is he trying to do?" ~Raqnid

"He... He wants to destroy himself!" ~Wells

"Not just himself, he wants to destroy the moonshot too!" Raqnid looks at Wells.

"ARGHHHHHH... Aaatoomic Destroyerrr!" a large black sphere forms.

"BOOOMM!!!"

The sphere expands and then shrinks until it disappears. Demon Lord Leon's figure and the moonshot are nowhere to be seen.

"Leon!" Demon Lord Dylas, Pico, and Dolce express sympathy for their sacrificed comrade.

Everyone is stunned by the situation. Their morale plummets, while the Demon soldiers become more aggressive.

"GARGGGHH!" The Demon soldiers attack more fiercely.

"EVERYONE FOCUS!" the army general reminds his troops.

The Unity forces are pushed back after nearly reaching the Demon fortress.

"No... No... All our efforts for the past year... Ended just like that!" Princess Shara is deeply affected by seeing the moonshot shatter and disappear.

"Princess Shara!" Lyn is concerned.

"Shara, be strong!" Wells watches his granddaughter from a distance.

"We're done for!" King Alex exclaims.

All members of Unity are at a loss, facing a situation they never thought happen. Now, all they can hope for is a miracle.
