6 Trying to gather mana

Genric walked out of the cave to gather wood to make fire for cooking the rabbit that he hunted. After gathering the wood, he came back to the cave and saw that the deer was still unconscious.

Shrugging his shoulders, he let it be for the moment and started working on making a fire. Even though he didn't have an experience in making a fire, he did watched some videos about it on few occasions so he had an idea on how to make one. Eventually after a few tries, he succeeded making him smile.

But then it dissipated remembering that he still need to prepare the rabbit's meat which he forgot and didn't have an idea on how to. So he decided to just try things out first.

He made his way towards the river with the rabbit in hand. He looked for a suitable stone for making a knife out of it and then sharpened it by grinding it on another stone like what he saw in videos about primitive life. Then he skinned the rabbit and take out the innards while cleaning the blood in the river. After doing all of that, he looked up to see that the sky was slowly darkening.

So he hurriedly made his way back to the cave with the rabbit's meat and his new knife that me made in both hands. While walking towards the cave, he had a sudden thought as he looked into the night sky, 'It looks like the day time is about the same on Earth, That's a good thing.'

The moment he arrived inside the cave, he saw that the fire was out. He then made a new one and then pierced the rabbit with a wooden stick and put it over the fire.

Whimper*

As he was cooking the rabbit, he heard a sound not far away from him. He turned to look and spotted the deer waking up. It looked around until it saw Genric and it immediately backed off while looking at Genric cautiously, not minding its wound.

"Hey, don't worry I'm not going to hurt you. Here have some fruits." Genric tried talking to the deer to calm it down while giving it a fruit. He didn't dare to do anymore movements as he was afraid that the deer might mistake it for something else and be more cautious of him as a result. He wanted to try to make the deer his friend because he literally knew no one in this world and having someone as a friend, even if it's an animal or a monster will be helpful to keep his sanity sane.

Even though the deer did not understand what Genric said, seeing that he was not doing anything to it while also giving it fruits for it to eat, it released some of its caution as it slowly made its way towards Genric while still looking intently at him, looking for sudden movements.

'It looks like it's still young seeing as it was somewhat easy to convince. Though that makes it somewhat awkward for me as I feel like I'm tricking a child, even though I'm not.' Keeping those thoughts to himself, Genric smiled gently at the deer as he continued to hold out the fruits towards the deer's direction while speaking, "That's a good girl, here come a little bit closer."

Genric noticed that the deer was a female while he was making the fire so he called it that way. And while it may seem stupid to talk to the deer even though she did not understand him, Genric still talked to it as he enjoyed it because finally he didn't need to talk to himself anymore ever since he got here.

When the deer finally got closer, it then took the fruit away from Genric's hands as it walked at the corner of the cave. It then slowly ate the food as it continued to stare at Genric.

Genric couldn't help but smile bitterly at the deer's actions when suddenly a smell belonging to that of cooked meat assaulted his nose. Turning his head, he saw that the rabbit he was cooking was finally cooked as he took it out of the fire. He blew air on it to cool it down and as soon as he took a bite, a bit bland and yet delicious taste came to his mouth.

"It's delicious, though it would have been more delicious if there was seasoning to it. It's quite hard to chew as well. Might be because this world is different." Genric shrugged the thought off for now as he focused on eating the rabbit's meat. While eating, he turned to see the deer looking at him.

"Want some?" He pointed at the meat in his hands as he looked at the deer. As if understanding his words, the deer shook its head as it looked at the fruits besides him.

Looking at the place where the deer has its eyes on, he saw the fruits. "Ohh, so that's what you want. Here have some more." making a sound of understanding, he grabbed some more fruits then pushed it towards the direction of the deer.

The deer saw Genric giving it more fruits so it released some more of its caution as it made its way towards the fruits.

Genric thought that the deer would take the fruits again in the corner to eat it but was surprised to see that it decided to eat there. Smiling brightly as he saw that the deer started to trust him a little, he continued to eat with a smile on his face.

After finishing the meat, he decided to think of what he wants to do next. He didn't want to sleep yet as he strangely doesn't feel tired even after what he had done the whole today. So he decided to do something to kill time until he felt sleepy.

"What should I do now?" While Genric was lost in his thoughts, he looked at the deer laying on the ground resting with its eyes closed. He was then surprised to see the wound on the side of the deer beginning to show signs of scarring as it was not bleeding anymore even though just a while ago it was bleeding a lot.

He then had a sudden epiphany while looking at it as he slapped his right hand to his thighs as he exclaimed, "Right! Maybe I should try gathering the energy or mana or so they call it in the air. If there really is mana in this world, it will be indispensable to survive."

While he was exclaiming, he heard sounds coming from the deer's direction and saw it was standing looking at him as if it was surprised by his actions.

He calmed down his emotions as he looked at the deer while apologizing, "Sorry about that. You can continue to rest."

He sighed in relief as he saw the deer laying down again after a few moments as it stared at him as if monitoring him. Even though he was feeling uncomfortable, he decided to not think of it for now as he focused on his newfound goal.

"But how should I gather mana? Maybe breathing would work? Let's try it, nothing bad will happen anyway... I hope."

Ignoring his last words, he sat down and sat in a cross legged position. He then inhaled deeply and then stopped and let it stay there for some time and then slowly exhaled as well. He repeated this action while trying to focus his attention on his breathing fully. He tried to feel the air entering his body though his nose, staying in his lungs for a while then slowly leaving it through his mouth. He imagined some kind of energy in the air he was breathing in entering his body and then tried to imagine it staying in his body slowly revolving around his body as he then released the breath he was holding along with it the remaining energy that didn't revolve in his body.

Genric soon was deeply immersed in his breathing that he forgot his own surroundings. The deer continued looking at him as it lay there not doing anything to it since it decided to trust Genric a little.

After a while, Genric finally opened his eyes and the first thing that he noticed is that he felt refreshed and his body is full of energy. He looked at his own hands and clenched it slowly, feeling his power. He then said out loud, full of excitement, "Yes, I did it!"
