16 Chapter 16: Disaster Strike (part 3)

"AAAHHHH!"

Witnessing his brothers dying one by one in front of him, Arnoux descended into madness, launching relentless attacks on his opponent without concern for his own defense.

However, being weaker than the wolf, he started sustaining injuries.

"Captain!! Calm down!! If something happens to you, we will all die here!!!" Zam screamed at the top of his lungs while parrying the opponent's attacks.

His desperate cry had an effect as Arnoux's frenzied expression began to subside.

Realizing the dire situation they were in, Arnoux needed to come up with a solution. If they continued like this, they would inevitably meet their end.

Arnoux clenched his teeth so tightly that they began to bleed. He was about to make the most difficult decision of his life.

"EVERYONE!!! RETREAT!!!"

"Captain... You..."

Zam, Nox, Eryx, and the two new body tempering individuals stared at Arnoux in shock.

"Captain... We-we can't abandon them." Zam's eyes were filled with tears.

Everyone present was like family, and leaving them behind felt like leaving their own kin to perish. It was something they couldn't bear.

"We have no other choice!! If we stay here any longer, we will all die!! What about our families waiting in the village if we die?" Arnoux's tears streamed down his face, this decision was agonizing for him as well. However, if they died here, an even greater calamity would befall the village. He couldn't allow that to happen.

"Everyone!! Don't apologize, we understand! Retreat now!! Just... Just tell my family I LOVE THEM SO MUCH!!!"

"ME TOO!! YOU F**KING WOLF, EVEN IF I DIE TODAY, I WILL TAKE A PIECE OF MEAT OFF YOU, BASTARD!!!"

With heavy hearts, everyone began to flee. As they ran, they could hear the final battle cries of the two fallen comrades, a sound that pierced their souls like a knife.

"Okay, stop chasing!" Argon telepathically commanded.

Yes, he possessed the ability to send telepathic messages, as long as it was with a monster created by the system, he could communicate anywhere.

The wolves halted their pursuit and finished off the two remaining foes.

Argon observed the dramatic scene unfold, yet he remained indifferent.

After some time, he sensed that they had left the dungeon using the returner stone.

"Now that they've left the dungeon, the mission should be considered complete, right?"

Almost instantly, a mechanical voice resonated in his head.

[Mission complete: You have successfully defended your dungeon.

Reward: 100 soul coins]

"Now, I can finally purchase the last defense for the first floor—the goblins."

Argon was only able to accommodate two tribes or dens on the first floor. If he were to force a third one, overcrowding would occur, leading to internal conflicts and the monsters killing each other.

If they began slaughtering one another while numerous intruders entered his dungeon, and most of the monsters were still in the respawn phase due to their internal battles, who would defend his dungeon? He could only imagine the impending disaster. After all, these low-level monsters acted on instinct, and he couldn't prevent them from killing each other.
