4 No Pain No Gain

Katherine went back home with conflicted thoughts, on one hand she was very upset that she was unable to get a job but on the other hand she was happy that there was still something that she could do to earn money, she seriously needed to think about this modeling stuff, if she was successful then her life would definitely change for the better faster than she thought.

After freshening up she went downstairs to cook dinner for her and her family, as she was busy cooking a very delicious chicken teriyaki and, rice and other side dishes when her mother's loud voice rang in her ears "So? Did you get the job huh?"

Katherine wasn't sure whether she wanted to become a model or not yet, but seeing how her mother was so ready to kick her out even though her savings are not enough to rent an apartment or even a room in a decent and safe place, she turned around and said "Yes mom, I got a job offer from a modeling company, I actually accidentally met Mr Jacob Smith today and he offered me to work for him" Katherine answered truthfully.

Samantha looked at her daughter for a while before bursting in to a fit of laughter, after a couple of minutes she stopped laughing and said with a serious expression on her face "oh it was such a good joke, I haven't laughed like that in a while. After all you being Mr Smith's model is a very good joke, but I'm serious here Katherine did you get a job or not? If no then I suggest you go to your previous boss and beg him to take you back or I will kick you out, you have become too spoilt I think you need to learn a tough lesson before you come to your senses."

She looked at her mother with a serious and slightly annoyed expression and said "mom I'm serious about it, I really did meet Mr Smith today, and he even me gave his card and I can show it to you if you don't believe me, he said that as long as I can lose weight he would be more than happy to work with me, he even said that he will assign people that will teach me everything I need to know."

After listening to her daughters serious explanation Samantha knew that it wasn't a joke so she decided to believe her, she said "hmmp, then you better go and sign a contract with him and lose that stinking weight quickly, and once you start getting paid you must give me ten percent of your income because I have been feeding you for free and you have been living here without doing anything to contribute when you are a 25 year old grown ass woman."

"like seriously mom, you want me to pay you for rent and food? Fine, I will give you five percent of my earnings for a year, no more that that mom, I don't know why you are being this unfair asking me to pay you when my elder brother has been living here all his life and you never asked him to give you a dime, but it's okay mom I'll give it to you."

"You ungrateful brat, don't you know that children can never repay their parents? And how dare you talk about your brother like that, he's only 30 years old I'm sure he will soon get his life together and move out, don't you know how stressful it is for him working from morning to evening? He is still young so until he finds a wife that will take care of him he can live here for as long as he wish and you will not question me about it."

Feeling her energy being depleted because of this conversation Katherine decided to wave the white flag and focus on her cooking, when they finished eating she went upstairs took a shower and got her laptop to make some research about Mr Smith and his business, after finding enough information and seeing that he could be trusted she decided that she will take the job, she called him and after a few rings he picked up.

"Hello?"

"Hello Mr Smith, it's Katherine Kenneth, we met earlier at grandma Han's restaurant."

"OH yes, my muse! I did not forget you, so tell me what you decided, I hope you are taking the job."

"uhh yes Mr Smith I am taking the job"

"Fantastic, meet me tomorrow at royalty restaurant at 2 in the afternoon I will have your contract ready and then we will begin on working on your weight and other things."

"oh wow that fast... Okay, Thank you very much Mr Smith for giving this opportunity"

"it's my pleasure, see tomorrow, have a good night miss Kanneth."

The next day Katherine was both nervous and excited to meet with Mr Smith and sign her contract but since she was already here she decided not to cower back.

At Royalty restaurant, Katherine and Jacob Smith had lunch together and after lunch he handed her the contract and asked her to go through it carefully before signing it, Katherine took the contract and spent some time reading and pondering over it before she finally lifted her head and flashed him a satisfied smile before she took out her pen and signed the contract.

"It's an honor to work with you Mr Smith, thank you once again for this opportunity" said Katherine.

"The pleasure is all mine Miss Kanneth, and please don't be so formal with me anymore, you can call me Jacob or Jake, that's what my little sister calls me and you remind me so much of her."

Katherine blushed and nodded her head to which Jacob Smith found cute, if he wasn't gay he would have already fallen for her. After having more work related conversation Jacob informed her that they would register her in to a gym the next day and assign a dietician for her, "I hope you are ready to sweat and give up on your favorites high calorie diet Katherine" said Jacob Smith.

Katherine just smiled at him and said "Sure Jake, no pain no gain" he chuckled at her words and they both went their separate ways. Tomorrow Katherine's life was going to change forever in a way that she never imagined.
