38 Chapter 38: The Policewoman’s Request

"You're a really good person."

The policewoman sighed a little. Wang Hao had made her feel the little bit of warmth that this post-Apocalyptic world had left. He had given her some hope that many other good people might still exist out there.

She believed that those thugs had found it in themselves to do such inhuman things because they hadn't been good people at heart to begin with, and that's why they just did whatever they wanted after the Apocalypse occurred.

She was sure that most ordinary humans would never do anything like that, no matter what.

Wang Hao's appearance made her even more sure of this opinion.

"Ha, ha, ha…"

Wang Hao couldn't help laughing when he heard her call him a good person.

"What's wrong? Why are you laughing?" asked the policewoman, confused.

"You're the first person who has ever complimented me like this, so I'm very happy," said Wang Hao.

"Oh, I see…"

The policewoman nodded, then pointed to the area outside the door.

She asked, "There were so many zombies outside just now. How did you get in here?"

"Zombies?" Wang Hao frowned and replied, "There weren't a lot of zombies outside."

"There weren't a lot of zombies? How can that be?"

The policewoman's eyes widened and her mouth fell open. She looked as if she was very surprised.

"Why would I lie to you? It's true that there are usually a lot of zombies around, but I noticed that this area didn't have that many zombies walking around, and that's why I was willing to hit the streets. Otherwise, even if I were super-brave, I wouldn't dare to take such a risk," said Wang Hao.

"Really? But that's really very strange…I saw so many zombies earlier."

The policewoman was really puzzled by this situation, and she started to suspect that the mysterious sentient zombie she'd run into earlier had led all the other zombies away from this area.

But why would that zombie want to do something like that? Did it want to give her a chance to live on? That sounded absolutely ridiculous.

But that seemed to be exactly what had just happened. She couldn't help feeling very confused about everything now.

"A lot of zombies? But if you saw a lot of zombies, then why didn't I see any of them?" asked Wang Hao as he pretended not to believe her.

"I'm serious. The zombies attacked the police station and killed off all the thugs who had originally taken over this police station," replied the policewoman with a very serious look on her face.

"Are you serious? Then why didn't those zombies kill you?" asked Wang Hao a little doubtfully.

"I don't know why either. There was a commander among those zombies, and it didn't want to kill me, and because of him I managed to survive the attack." The policewoman thought about what had happened earlier, and she herself started to find it all very unreal.

"Ha, ha, ha…everything you're saying doesn't make any sense at all. I've seen so many zombies, and I've never seen one with any intelligence. I think you've been too tense over the past few weeks, and you're beginning to imagine things," said Wang Hao as he laughed.

"Sigh…I just knew you wouldn't believe me. If someone else told me this story, I wouldn't believe it either. It just sounds way too ridiculous."

The policewoman sighed. She knew that Wang Hao would never believe her story, so she didn't talk about it anymore.

"All right now, it doesn't matter whether it was true or not, since I don't think it matters to you anymore. Right now, you need to think about how you're going to survive," said Wang Hao.

In reality, that particular intelligent zombie had been created from one of his own Zombie Bombs. Of course he believed everything that the policewoman had just said.

As for those zombies that he'd controlled earlier, he had naturally found a way to dispose of them in a secluded area.

And because he'd gotten rid of so many zombies in one fell swoop, he had gained a lot of XP.

But in order to cover his tracks, he had to keep pretending that he didn't believe the policewoman at all. Otherwise, if she thought about it a little more deeply, then she might start to suspect him.

It was better to have one less worry than one more worry, so Wang Hao went on pretending not to believe her.

"You're right. All those things have nothing to do with me anymore."

The policewoman nodded, then she looked at Wang Hao and asked, "Then what do you intend to do now?"

"I came out to look for some food, and I've already found some. So I'm just going to find a place to sleep," said Wang Hao.

"Oh, where were you staying before this?" asked the policewoman.

She didn't have anywhere to go now, so she wanted to know where Wang Hao was staying. She wanted to know if he was living with anyone else. She wanted to see if she could move in with them.

But Wang Hao's response made her feel a little disappointed.

"I don't have a fixed place to live. After the Apocalypse hit, I've been moving from place to place," replied Wang Hao.

"So you're saying that you've been living all by yourself?" The policewoman was a little disappointed.

"That's right. After the Apocalypse happened, all the students in my school died, and I'm the only one who survived. I've been relying on my own strength to survive all this time."

The policewoman's eyes lit up when she heard these words. She stared at Wang Hao, then looked at the three zombies lying on the floor.

She said in surprise, "You're really incredible, making it this far all by yourself. I wouldn't have been able to survive for so long. How did you do it?"

"It was nothing really. These zombies might look very terrifying, but once you've discovered their habits and weaknesses, there are many ways of dealing with them. But most people don't really understand them, that's all," replied Wang Hao nonchalantly.

The policewoman heard how Wang Hao explained it so simply, but she didn't think that things were as simple as Wang Hao made them out to be. She started to feel even more admiration for Wang Hao.

As a result, she started wondering if she could live with him while she slowly looked for her family, since Wang Hao was so strong and capable.

"By the way, since this is a police station, then you guys must have guns, right?" asked Wang Hao.

He quickly explained himself after asking this question. "We're now living in post-Apocalyptic times, so I was wondering if it would be possible for you to find me a few guns. After all, it's very dangerous to go outside and look for food. If I run into a large group of zombies, it would be very easy for me to get bitten."

"You want a pistol? It's illegal for ordinary citizens to carry weapons," said the policewoman.

"Er…" Wang Hao was speechless.

But the policewoman continued, "But since we're in this lawless time, then all normal boundaries don't count anymore. I just want you to agree to one request of mine."

"What request do you have? Go ahead and ask it," said Wang Hao quizzically.

"I want you to take me along when you leave this place. Would that be okay?" asked the policewoman.

"Ha, ha, ha…of course, that's not a problem," said Wang Hao with a laugh.

He was more than happy to do that for her.

He had been wondering what excuse he could use to get her to live with him, but now the policewoman had taken the initiative to ask to stay with him herself, so that fit right into his plans.

"That's a deal then. You are not to abandon me," said the policewoman with a very stern look on her face.

"I said it's no problem, so it's definitely not a problem," replied Wang Hao very confidently.

"Come upstairs with me then."

The policewoman then turned and started walking out of the room.

Wang Hao quickly ran after her. He could have found all these weapons by himself, but with the help of this policewoman, it would make finding all these things much easier.

On top of that, the police station didn't only have guns. They also had things like bulletproof vests, handcuffs, tasers, high-powered flashlights, and radio communication devices.

If he'd had to search for all these things by himself, it would have taken up a lot of his time and energy.

So the policewoman's usefulness was very evident to him at this time.
