=The Next Day, The Community Centre, Hallway
They were washing the windows.
"What if I can talk to animals?" Nathan asked.
"Why would you even think that?" Kelly asked.
"I saw this basset hound eating a kebab off the pavement. I was like, 'You dirty bastard,' and this basset hound gave me a right funny look," he said.
"He probably thought you were a twat," She said.
"No, it wasn't that kind of look. It was more like, 'Are you talking to me?' ... 'Are you talking to me?'" He said.
He got distracted by a bunch of mothers holding their new babies walked past across the other side of the main hall. The community centre held classes to help new mothers learn how to handle their babies.
"See? Babies. That's why I always use a condom... and if the girl looks dirty I use two. Belt and braces," He said.
The girl with the short black hair that bumped into him the day before showed up again. When she noticed Curtis a smile spread across her face and she waved at him.
Curtis smiled back when he noticed her. He raised his head to greet her. "Sam!" he said.
Nathan looked between the two of them and a smirk formed. "Oh? Here for that good BBC?" He asked while gesturing vulgarly.
Kelly smacked his head from behind. "Shut up will ya?" She said.
"Why do you keep hitting me?" He whined.
She glared at him. "Because you deserve it," she said.
Curtis walked off with Sam.
=The Next Day, Outside The Community Centre=
They were scraping flyers from the outside of the community centre using paint scrapers when Nathan suddenly stopped and ran off.
"What's he doing?" Kelly asked.
'Is it the baby?' Chris wondered.
Kelly suddenly turned towards him. "What baby?" She asked.
He sighed. "A baby that got powers," he said.
Alisha looked at him curiously. "How do you know that," she asked.
He shook his head. "I just do," he said.
"Neva' mind that. What powa'?" Kelly asked.
"It has some kind of psychic power. It's using it to find a new father. It's affecting Nathan," he said.
Alisha snorted. "Who would want Nathan as a father?" She said.
"Right?" Curtis said with a smirk.
"Then what?" Kelly asked.
Chris shrugged. "He's probably trying to kidnap that baby right now," he said.
All of them stopped scraping at the same time.
"Shouldn't we stop him?" Alisha asked cautiously.
They all dropped their tools and ran towards the community centre.
On their way in they ran into Simon in a rush to leave the community centre.
"I think I've just seen Nathan stealing a baby," he said nervously.
He quickly turned and headed back in with all of them following him.
"He just ran off with it," he said.
"If he gets caught, he's screwed. Call the prick," Curtis said.
Kelly tried calling
After waiting a few moments for it to ring she said: "Switched off."
"Fuck's sake," Alisha said.
"We need to find him," Kelly said.
They all ran off except Simon who turned around for some reason.
Kelly held the back door of the community centre open for him. "Come on!" She yelled after him causing him to finally follow along.
=Outside=
They kept searching until they heard Nathan's singing coming from the top floor of the car park.
"I went to the animal fair..." he sang.
They looked up to see him holding the baby precariously by the edge of the car park.
"What's he doing?!" Curtis shouted.
"The big baboon By the light of the moon," Nathan sang.
All of them ran into the car park and rushed up the stairs.
When they finally reached the top floor where they found Nathan still holding the baby and singing: "Monkey, monkey, monkey, monkey, monkey, monkey, monkey."
"What the fuck are you doing?" Kelly asked.
Nathan looked offended. "Hey! There's no need for language like that," he said.
He leaned closer to the baby he was holding. "Don't listen to her. That's a very bad word and she should know better," he said.
"You're acting like a freak," Kelly said.
"Give us the baby," Curtis said.
Nathan frowned. "You're not taking him! He needs me," he said.
"It's the baby, he's got power. He's making you think that you're the dad," Kelly said.
Nathan smiled gently. "He needs a dad. I know what that's like. My dad was never around. Look what it did to me. I'm gonna be his daddy," he said.
"You?" Curtis asked.
Nathan nodded eagerly.
"You're gonna be its dad?" Curtis asked.
"You're a homeless. You're living in the community centre," Kelly said.
"You got no money, no job," Curtis said.
"You're poor," Alisha said.
"And you've got a criminal record," Simon said.
"You're never going to convince its mom to put up with you. You've got enough issues landing stupid girls with no responsibilities in their lives. There's no way the mom is going to put up with you," Chris said.
"You can barely look after yourself," Kelly said.
Curtis looked him up and down. "Social Services is going to take one look at you..." he said.
"Seriously, the kid deserves better. Way better," Alisha said.
Nathan grimaced. "Him and his mum can come and live with me at the community centre. I can get free food from the vending machines. I'll steal booze from the kitchen. I'll steal from other babies. I'll go to the park and forage for nuts and berries," he said.
All of them looked at each other in confusion.
Suddenly Nathan froze and looked down at the baby in confusion and started holding it as far away from him as he could. "Why am I holding this baby? I'm not being sexist but one of you girls needs to take this off me before I drop it on its head," he said.
Kelly carefully took it off him. "Let's go take it back to its mum... before you get arrested... again," she said walking off towards the community centre.
"Wait for me," Nathan yelled running after her.
=That Night, Chris' Home=
Chris was training his powers when his phone chimed.
[Shy Boy: Help!]
Chris sighed. 'Oh Simon... tell me you didn't...' he thought.
