1 That Night

Five years ago...

It was December 13, 1999 and outside was below freezing and was raining so hard. Thomas was working on the women abducted case. Ten women were abducted while walking home at night and there are no news back from their family yet. Thomas doesn't believe it's an ordianry kidnap case. He sat there as he look back at each evidence found from those ten cases. They're all young ladies from the ages of 20-25 and all goes to Star Academy. The weird thing is the kidnapper would leave a red star mark on the scene. Thomas sat there with his crew and trying to figure it out what it means. "Where's Linda," Thomas called out. Linda was the new sergeant that came in 2 months ago. "I thought she was here," called the other and Thomas took out his phone and tried to call her. No one picked up and everyone went out to find her. When Thomas and his crew members got out the door, there was an envelope. The envelope said " TO:SMITH." Thomas took the envelope and opened it. It was Linda's badge and a slip saying "You'll never find me." Thomas and the crews look everywhere, but couldn't find her. From that day on, Thomas haven't got much rest and try every way to find the culprit. A few months have passed and there was no luck and from that day after Linda went missing, there was no more reports on missing woman. There was no new evidence and it became a cold case. Thomas left the department and opened his own detective office.

Now.....

It is 9 o'clock pm and it's raining outside. Thomas is sitting in his office and writing his report. He just solved the children abduction case. The only sound in the room is his typing sound and the clock on the wall. TICK,TICK, TICK.... Suddenly, there's a bang from the outside door and a gust of wind swoosh in. Thomas sat there calmly and kept writing his report. Click Clank, Click Clank and the footsteps are coming closer and closer. Click and his office door is open. "Detective Thomas, take a look," as she try to catch his breath. This is Thomas's assistant Xiaoyi, and she's been working with for five years. Xiaoyi handed him the newspaper and the headline said "I'M BACK SMITH." Smith is Thomas last name and no one ever called him by his last name like that. He knew who he is and just laid the newspaper down on his table. He gave a stern look at his assistant and starts walking away.
