9 A Mysterious Connection

The next class was Chemistry and it was a subject that the males in the class rarely liked. Most of the boys would prefer maths and physics over Chemistry any day but it was the exact opposite for the girls. 

As a result, the people who were responding to the teacher's question were mostly girls while the boys seemed to have become lethargic. Andrey, who was adamant about improving the efficiency of his powers felt his eyelids on the brink of shutting while he was trying to focus on the teacher's words.

As a result, Andrey along with most of the boys in his classroom slept during the whole chemistry period. Some experienced ones had mastered the art of sleeping with their eyes open and were able to embrace sleep without any worries while the less experienced ones were only at the mercy of hiding behind the figure of the student sitting ahead of them to get the sleep they so yearned for.

After an hour and a half the school bell rang which marked the end of the second period of the day. It was already twelve in the afternoon so everyone started rushing towards the Canteen like usual. 

By the time Andrey and Jacob came out of their drowsy state, they realised that Jenny had already left the room and it was the same for many girls in the class.

"How do they even become so hungry? Almost all of them are shorter than me and exercise less than me," Jacob muttered.

"Beats me, they might have a wormhole or something that eternally craves nourishment," Andrey came up with his hypothesis on the spot as he met eyes with Jacob. The two stared at each other for a couple of seconds and broke into a chuckle.

The two of them soon reached the canteen and saw Jenny waving at them from a seat as she said while enjoying her lunch, "I've saved your seats so don't worry and take your time as I savour my meal, Ah~ Delicious~"

The trace of schadenfreude in Jenny's voice was successfully able to irk Andrey and Jacob as without bothering with her the two of them went to the back of the line to wait for their turn to get food.

While waiting in the line Andrey saw a group of familiar girls chatting ahead of him. He remembered having a slight impression of their faces on the cricket field yesterday and knew that they were Lisa's friends.

One of the girls in the group also noticed Andrey and whispered something in the other girl's ears. The girl too turned her head towards Andrey and after noticing him told something to her group of friends before walking towards Andrey.

"Hey, you're Andrey right?" The girl asked. Her voice was quite rude which kind of irked Andrey a bit but he didn't show it on his face.

"Yes, what about it?" Andrey replied not minding to be polite.

The girl raised her eyebrows a bit after hearing his tone but didn't say anything about it as she continued, "Were you with Lisa yesterday after school?"

"Yes, what about it?" Andrey asked. He made it clear that he wasn't very interested in speaking with her but the girl carried on.

"Did something happen between the two of you? Answer me honestly," The girl further asked which irritated Andrey a bit but seeing the concern for Lisa that her words carried he relented and answered.

"Nope, she just gave me a treat to thank her for yesterday and then we went our ways," Andrey said as a matter of fact.

The girl instead of replying stared right into Andrey's eyes for a couple of seconds and just when Andrey was about to move his eyes away because of her intense gaze she removed her gaze from him and turned around while muttering to herself something which wasn't very audible to Andrey, "Then why is she..."

Jacob looked towards the girl who was now back with her friends, "You know her?" 

"Nope, just a friend of someone whom I know," Andrey replied.

"That Lisa girl?" Jacob added.

"Yes, I saved her from getting hit by a ball yesterday," Andrey further added.

"Ah, it makes sense now. I was thinking how is it that I don't know that you're friends with a girl from another section," Jacob said jokingly as he elbowed Andrey.

They soon reached the counter and took their food from the mess lady before going back to accompany Jenny.

"You know Rebecca?" Jenny looked at Andrey questioningly.

"Rebecca?" Andrey asked in confusion.

"The girl who was talking with you while you were in the line," Jenny reminded.

"Oh, her? No, I don't. She just wanted to ask me something," Andrey said. He didn't want to explain everything again to Jenny and understanding this Jacob answered Jenny's doubtful expression.

"I see, it was quite a shocker for me to see Rebecca talking with you as from what I've heard, she rarely talks with boys and because of her fierce nature, not many boys go and talk with her," Jenny said.

"Is that so? Well, why do we care, let's finish our meal," Andrey said as he started digging in his food to fill his empty stomach up. Though he said that, he was thinking about the reason why that girl would be so concerned about Lisa to the point that she would come to inquire him about her.

The lunch was soon over and the three of them went back to the class to attend the last class of the day.

Mr. Thomson soon walked into the classroom and started teaching the parts of the history that had been obscured from them for all this while.

Today was an introductory class so the students were only being told about the history of their former planet, earth. It was a long lecture which ended with the fact that their current planet which was named 'Shelter' was incomparable to their home planet, earth.

No matter how curious all the students were by the end of the class they were all exhausted as hell and just wanted to go back home and have a nap.

"Let's check the information regarding the Warrior Academy on CoNet today, we can discuss it with each other tomorrow morning so that we are better prepared for the exam," Jacob suggested to both Andrey and Jenny.

"That's quite smart," Jenny complimented.

"Alright," Andrey said as he picked up his backpack and walked out of the class. This was his way of giving space to Jenny and Jacob so that the already budding relationship between them could further improve.

At first, the two of them asked him to accompany them on the way back to school but he was quick on his feet at that moment and came up with the excuse of having a lot of chores to do at home since he was living alone and the two of them finally relented.

Thanks to that the two of them were able to enjoy some alone time without feeling guilty about leaving Andrey behind.

On his way down the stairs, Andrey saw the girl named Rebecca once again and the two of their eyes met for a second. Unlike before she didn't give him a second glance and went about her way.

Andrey was already aware of his average looks but still being treated like nothing by a beautiful girl made his suppressed feelings of insecurities rise again as he marched his way back to his house after exiting the school building.

Because of this reason he had been too distracted on his way back and ended up banging his head on a traffic signal pole.

"Ouch!" Andrey exclaimed as he intensely rubbed his head hoping that that it would not lead to a huge swelling.

As he was rubbing his head he looked towards the other side of the road and waited for the traffic signal to turn green for pedestrians. 

There were still forty more seconds for the signal to change colours. To pass time Andrey took out his phone to check his messages with one hand while rubbing his hand with the other.

Suddenly, from the periphery of his vision, he saw a figure rush past him and jump straight into the middle of the road. The sound of tires screeching entered his ears which was followed by a huge banging sound as the figure was slammed quite a distance apart by the vehicle.

Maybe it was due to the training he did in the morning class but just when he saw the figure getting slammed by the vehicle Andrey without a second thought used his Time Rewind powers and travelled back in time.

This time Andrey didn't take out his phone to keep his hands free and waited for the rushing figure. He didn't have to wait for long as just a couple of seconds later a figure rushed out of a bank and ran towards the road.

Andrey immediately restrained the person with his two hands while applying an ample amount of force to stop their momentum and succeeded but when he finally got the chance to look at the person's face his eyes widened as he said "L-Lisa...?"
