4 Charles

Arlan signed the document and handed it back to Trisha. He was shaking from excitement. Luckily, Trisha didn't notice his trembling hands or she would have thought differently of him.

"Here's your key, Mr. Roa. Thank you for choosing our store." Trisha bowed lightly as she gave him the car keys.

Arlan nodded his head as he feigned calmness.

He was a construction worker before and he had driven their company's trucks. Driving a sports car might be different, but he was confident in his skills.

Arlan entered the car and started the engine.

Vroom! Vroom!

His eyes shone in delight when he heard the roaring of the car's engine.

Suddenly, he thought about something and stared at Trisha as he asked. "By the way, did I already pay for this?"

Trisha stared at him in confusion. "Yes, Mr. Roa. We immediately processed your order as soon as we received your payment. Everything has already been taken care of so you can now freely drive your new car." She replied as she nodded her head. 'Did he forget that he had already paid for it?' She thought to herself.

"Alright. Thanks." Arlan left after getting her answer. He had no idea how the car was purchased under his name and he just attributed it to the mysterious ways of the app on his phone. He even had the thought that the app might be a creation of god and he was just lucky enough to be chosen to use it.

Trisha stared at the car that was moving further with unblinking eyes. "He is so young and handsome. He can even afford to buy such an expensive car for himself. Is he a son of a businessman?" She muttered to herself. She smiled as she looked at the contacts on her phone. Arlan's phone number was in the list and she even added it to her 'Favorites'.

Meanwhile, Arlan had already entered the main road. His rare car immediately attracted the attention of the people.

He felt extremely good when he noticed everyone's jealous gazes. He used to be like them every time he sees a fancy car.

Arlan passed by his former workplace and he noticed one of his coworkers smoking outside the gate with a dark look on his face.

'Charles? It's not yet lunchtime so why is he outside the building?' Arlan stared at the man in surprise. The guy was one of the few friends he have.

Charles was one of the regular employees of the construction company. His salary was higher than Arlan's and the guy even buys him food during lunch sometimes. He was about thirty years old with a height of five foot ten. He had a rough facial features and dark skin because of constantly working under the sun.

Arlan rolled down the car window of the passenger seat and shouted. "Hey, buddy! What are you doing there?"

Charles furrowed his eyebrows when he heard the familiar voice. He turned his head at the fancy car in front of him and was shocked to see Arlan in the driver's seat. "Arlan?!" He exclaimed in shock.

"Let's go. We'll talk somewhere more private." Arlan said as he opened the door to the passenger seat.

Charles had so many questions in his head when he saw his friend driving such a fancy car. "Alright." He replied as he quickly took a seat.

"Have you had lunch?" Arlan asked as he maintained his eyes on the road.

"Not yet." Charles replied.

"I'll take you to a restaurant and we'll talk there. I know you have a lot of questions. I'll try to answer them later." Arlan muttered. The two remained silent after that short interaction.

Arlan drove to a nearby restaurant. He never dared to dine at this place before, but now that he has some money, he wanted to try the taste of their dishes.

Charles silently followed his friend. For some reason, he felt that he was a completely different man now. He looked neat and decent in his formal attire. He was even driving a sports car that looked extremely expensive. He knew that Arlan was only living in a cheap apartment and he could barely eat three times a day so what was going on?

Arlan ordered their food and they took their seats at the corner of the second floor.

"Why were you outside the company building during working hours?" Arlan asked while looking at his friend.

Charles stared at him seriously as he crossed his fingers. "I heard from the others that you were fired by the company. When I asked Jackson about the details, he told me that you embezzled the team funds, but I knew that you weren't the kind of person who would steal money so I slapped Jackson out of anger. He complained to the big boss and I was fired this morning. I was smoking outside to suppress my rage." He sighed and shook his head after muttering those words.

Arlan frowned when he heard this. "So it's Jackson again, huh? That greedy fat pig wanted me to be the scapegoat for his evil deeds! I'll take my revenge sooner or later."

"Arlan, you seem to be keeping something from me. What's up with that car of yours? How did you manage to get it?" Charles could no longer hide his curiosity.

Arlan hesitated for a moment. Charles was his friend, but the matter about the app on his phone was too shocking that the other party might treat him as a lunatic if he told him about it. Furthermore, he thought that it would be dangerous to expose it to anyone.

"You know what's bitcoin, right? I managed to retrieve my lost e-wallet account and it has some bitcoins in it. I exchanged it for some cash and the rest was used to buy the car." Arlan randomly bullshitted. He could only lie to his friend to prevent future troubles.

Charles raised his eyebrows in surprise. He knew about bitcoin. It was one of the most expensive digital currencies in the market. He never would have thought that Arlan actually bought bitcoin before. His face eased up as he muttered. "How lucky! How much money did you manage to exchange it for?"

Arlan thought for a moment before giving a reply. "Just a few million."

"Huh? What?!"

A waiter suddenly arrived bringing the food they ordered. "Sir, here's your order. Enjoy your meal."
