6 Dinner With The Giggs

Mr Caldwell? It couldn't be the same intense man from before, could it? It was a dream Robin thought so it would make sense. She groaned to herself. When will this dream be over?

Maggie took Robin's hand and led her into the dining room, the room was a long white room with beautiful scenic paintings of streams and hidden waterfalls on the wall, in the centre of the room was a long blue woven rug, on the rug was a black table. The table was decorated lavishly, there was a bouquet of white flowers, in the centre of the table. Each plate setting was had a large black marble table mat, with a napkin folded like a swan on each golden plate.

"Mum's used the fancy tableware! She must be excited that Mr Caldwell has agreed to come to a place like this" Maggie said a slight twinkle in her eye as she led Robin to her seat.

'Agreed to come here, this house is lovely who does he think he is?!' Robin thought 'how stuck up is this man?' She was about to say something to Maggie when Mr Caldwell walked into the room, it was the same man from before although he was now in a grey suit, his dark hair framed his thin face perfectly did he look more attractive than before? Was that even possible? His cold eyes caught hers, she froze as she felt the air leave her lungs there was something so chilling about this gentleman but she couldn't work out what it was. He walked over to her, before bowing his head slightly but never dropping eye contact.

"Miss Giggs it's a pleasure," He said, Robin felt like he was looming over her taking every breath from her. She broke away from his gaze and stared towards the floor.

"Thank you, Sir," she responded unable to look up encase he caught her eyes again. Mr Caldwell didn't respond he turned to Robin's mother and began thanking her for the invite.

'His voice is icy and he doesn't sound thankful,' Robin thought "If coming here was such a hassle why did he bother?"

Robin could hear her mother thanking Mr Caldwell for coming, the older man asked everyone to sit down and to begin to eat, so everyone did.

Robin stared at the older man, was this her 'Dad?' there was something vaguely familiar about him, his eyes were gentle like her fathers. Robin mother had died when she was a child, so she was confused as to why her mind had conjured her a dream mother she wasn't bothered or fussed, but why would her subconscious change her father, the person on this earth that she was closest too? The Man caught Robin staring at him and asked, "Is something on your mind, Robin."

"Oh No.." she paused wondering what she should address this man as. It was just a dream so even if she was wrong it didn't really matter, did it? "...Dad?"

Robin looked around the room quickly waiting for someone to start laughing at her, but no one did. 'Guess this guy is my dad then' she thought to herself.

The rest of the dinner Mr Caldwell didn't speak a word to her, he barely acknowledged she was there, he spoke to her parents, he wasn't rude to them but he also wasn't warm and kind. Her mother made a big deal of telling Mr Caldwell how 'Fertial' the Giggs family were. Robin wanted to bury her head in the sand like an ostrich.

Maggie obviously feeling uncomfortable as well with her mother telling the world that she and her sister where baby-making machines butted in saying."Doesn't Robin look lovely tonight, Ryan?"

Ryan glanced up from his plate of pork chops and studied at Robin as if he was staring at a prize cow, "She does clean up well, but I'm not sure she should be in white." He shot Robin a wink. Nobody noticed though as everyone was staring at Robins mum, who face was so contorted and red she looked like she was about to boil over.

"HOW DARE YOU, suggest my daughter has not retained her flower" Robins Mother began, but Ryan cut her off.

"Madam Giggs, I would never do that! Your daughter is obviously as pure as the most elegant lustrious flower. I only meant that white is not her colour, wouldn't yellow bring out the warmth in your daughter's eyes?"
