7 Big-faced Cat Review

After Ke Meng clicked the 'accept' button, the mission appeared on his list.

He then clicked into the mission details. 

'Video has yet to be posted'.

There was no due date to the mission, so it seemed like Ke Meng could do it anytime. 

The reward of the mission was resistance. When he clicked on the word 'resistance', the system explanation was pretty short.

"Resistance: Reduce the negative effect in a bad environment."

The mission would only give him some resistance. Although he had no idea how useful that little resistance would be, it was better than nothing.

Ke Meng then began figuring out how to complete the mission.

"Evaluate something strange? I only have two strange things at home."

Ke Meng looked at the dog basin in the bedroom. The puppy was sleeping soundly in the basin. Meanwhile, the other strange item he owned was the big-faced cat.

The cat looked rather strange while the young puppy did not. The puppy looked no different than a normal dog that had just been born.

Perhaps it would have an obvious difference compared to a normal dog after a week. It would turn into an elite monster guard dog that possessed body enhancement ability.

Ke Meng was surprised by its growth speed. However, he let it go as soon as he recalled it was something from the game world.

In the game world, a week was sufficient for the players to develop very far into the storyline. Therefore, the puppy's growth speed made perfect sense.

Ke Meng thought about it and made up his mind to use the Strange Knowledge Cat as the review object.

The Strange Knowledge Cat's appearance was peculiar enough. Given that it looked funny due to its strange appearance, it would definitely attract many netizens who liked retarded things from watching it after putting it on the internet. The requirement of getting 10,000 people to watch it should not be too hard.

Ke Meng walked to the other bedroom where there was a big, long table. There was a garage cabinet behind it, and there were a couple of small garage kits in there. 

He set up his camera and pointed it at the table.

Ke Meng moved the big-faced cat together with the basin onto the table. He flipped a cardboard box and covered the cat with it to hide it.

After pressing the camera's video-recording function, Ke Meng said his opening line while facing the camera, "Hello guys, I'm Ke Meng. I'm going to review a strange cat today."

He then removed the cardboard box, revealing the white big-faced cat before the camera.

The cat looked like it was in a daze as it stared into the camera.

"This is a strange cat. It looks very much like the MUR cat that's recently popular on B Site's MAD video category. However, its appearance isn't the focus of the review today." 

Ke Meng picked up a glove and pointed his finger at the big-faced cat's head, and then at its mouth.

"Dried anchovy will vanish for no reason as soon as it goes into its mouth. There's no eating process. It's insanely unbelievable. Let me show you guys now…"

Ke Meng picked up a packet of dried anchovies that had been opened and picked up a single anchovy with his chopsticks. He then shoved it into the big-faced cat's mouth.

Apart from dried anchovies, Ke Meng tested the frozen pork he had in the refrigerator. It vanished as well.

"See? This big-faced cat only eats meat. If you have a big-faced cat too, please beware not to feed it with your hand…"

After shooting the video, Ke Meng spent half an hour editing the video and picking the background music.

There was no complicated review in the video, so no special effect was needed. After editing it, he picked a simple screen as the thumbnail. After writing something on the thumbnail, a short review was completed.

After he was done with the video, Ke Meng suddenly recalled the big-faced cat's function just when he was going to upload the video on B Site. He managed to cancel the uploading in time.

The big-faced cat had a core ability, whereby a living thing would gain strange knowledge when one stared into its eyes for 15 seconds.

'If I put this big-faced cat on the internet, will the audience gain strange knowledge on how the big-faced cat came about?' Ke Meng wrote the question that he was thinking about in his tiny notebook.

To prove the possibility of what he thought, Ke Meng made up his mind to test the effect of the review video.

A review was required not just to complete his mission, but it was to fulfill his curiosity too.

If he wanted to complete the mission of having 10,000 views, the big-faced cat was the best object as it was interesting by itself.

The young puppy looked too normal. The chances of having people stay and watch were low, thus it was hard to get 10,000 views.

However, curiosity was the main motivation that moved Ke Meng. The mission award on the other hand was less important.

Ke Meng logged onto QQ as he thought to himself. He messaged Chen Momo.

"You there?"

"I can't play PUBG now. I'm attending an online class, and I'm scared that my teacher will call me," the girl replied.

"Oh, I'll speak to you when you're free. I wanted to ask you to watch my new video."

"Sure, what kind of video is that? Eating? Daily vlog? Unboxing?" Chen Momo knew Ke Meng well.

"It's a pet unboxing video. I've sent you the video. Let me know when you're done watching it."

'Ding! Video has been downloaded.'

At the till of the convenience store downstairs, Chen Momo placed her phone on the counter while her fair legs were shaking slightly under the table.

Although the face mask covered her cute features, she was still beautiful with her big, watery eyes.

"Pet Unboxing - A Strange Review"

Chen Momo clicked on the video Brother Meng sent and found out that the review object today was a pet cat.

"Brother Ah Meng bought a pet? When did he buy that?" Chen Momo said softly.

When Ke Meng removed the cardboard box, a white MUR cat stood blankly in the middle of the basin. 

"Huh?" Chen Momo said out loud in surprise. She was very curious about when her landlord had bought a pet. However, that was not the important thing.

What was important was the cat's appearance!

With a tubby body and a dumb expression while its head tilted 45 degrees into the sky, it gave out a retarded vibe like those MAD videos on B Site.

Chen Momo felt rather puzzled because this cat looked a little too much like the MUR cat that had recently gone famous on B Site.

After seeing the cat with retarded expression, Momo was in the mood to watch more MAD genre videos.

The MAD genre had a strong culture on B Site. In other words, there were many retarded videos. The MAD videos made people smile and were a genre the audience would usually go for to kill their boredom. Chen Momo loved watching MAD videos too.

She watched Ke Meng feeding the cat in all seriousness, and then the food disappeared as if it was real. She felt entertained.

"I didn't know Brother Meng has the talent to be so funny," Chen Momo chuckled and said.

She messaged Ke Meng after watching the video.

Ke Meng seemed to care about her a lot as he replied within seconds, "Did you feel weird after watching it?"

"Yes, the cat is very retarded. It's funny! The video is amazing. Upload it to B Site now. Oh yeah, is it a real cat or a fake cat?" 

"It's a fake cat," Ke Meng gave a short response before he asked about Chen Momo's sentiments after watching the video in another way.

After testing her in many other ways, he found out she did not gain any strange knowledge.

Following his test on the girl downstairs, Ke Meng got five old classmates to whom he was close to watch the video. He asked if they felt anything strange after watching the video.

The old classmates' answers were similar. They thought that the strange feeling Ke Meng was asking about was the retarded MAD genre vibes the video gave out. They had no tendency of gaining any new knowledge.

Ke Meng was relieved to learn that.

Since one would not gain new knowledge from watching the video, he would post it online then. After all, he had to complete his review video mission.

Downstairs, Chen Momo returned to her online class page after noticing that it was almost time for her class while Brother Meng had stopped asking her questions.

Mrs. Chen was sorting the shelf out. She stretched her head and looked at her daughter. "What are you watching?"

"Nothing, it's just a strange cat. You won't like it."

"Oh," the lady responded and asked again a minute later, "How did he get a cat when he didn't even step out of his house?"

"Maybe the neighbor gave it to him?" Chen Momo thought about it for two seconds.

"But I didn't hear any meowing."

Momo rolled her eyes at her mother. "It's a fake cat."

Mrs. Chen stopped speaking and focused on sorting the goods before her.

Both of them were silent as they did their own thing. The voice of her teacher in the online class and the sound of goods being sorted echoed in the store. Shadows grew quietly under the lights.

The sky turned dim outside the window. It was a cloudy day with little light out there.

A pedestrian who was jogging passed by the convenience store. He peeped into the store by instinct.

Curious if it was an illusion, he saw two shadows stretch all the way to the wall. There were many shadows reflected on the wall.

When the jogger blinked, there were no longer any shadows on the wall.

The gentle lady was still sorting the goods out while the young girl was sprawled on the table, watching her phone. The duo ignored the pedestrian outside the store.

The jogger stopped for a couple of seconds. He shook his head and smiled after confirming that it was an illusion. He began jogging again.

The tiny store was quiet and peaceful as usual today.
