10 Princess of a fallen clan

As I step out of my carriage, I took the time to observe my surroundings. Indeed, this looks like a palace of a forgotten concubine.

Ivy is growing and covering almost all the walls of the palace that its white marble shine is covered. The trees weren't taken care of, and it is almost barren and there is no accompanied fragrance brought by flowers in their garden that are almost always in palaces of all nobles. It is truly a depressing place.

And the servants who came here to greet me are only a mere number of threes. Two maids and a butler.

"My lady, is this truly a place for a concubine?," Emmy whispered to me.

But Emmy's doubt disappeared when there are servants who were waiting for our arrival.

'Indeed, it seems to be the right place,' Emmy thought.

"My lady, we are happy to serve you today. Lady Uld awaits," the butler bowed.

I nodded my head in consideration.

"Carina!!!"

"Your highness!"

I was slightly thrown back when Vance hugged me. "You really came!,"

"Of course. I promised, your highness," I said smiling. Honestly, looks aside, Vance is very cute. I can't help but to take care of him.

Vance turned towards a huge box Emmy was carrying. "Ah, my maid is carrying some sweets. It's so delicious. I bet you'll love it," I said as I giggled lightly at his excited response.

"Then let's go! I want to eat them with Carina!,"

"That'll be later your highness. I need to see Lady Uld first,"

"Mother?"

I nodded as I took his hands and squeezed it lightly. "I'll be back as soon as possible,".

Led by the butler, I arrived at a room that is too simple for a concubine's. It wasn't as dilapidated as the outside. But the living quarters of the royal family had always been more than comfortable. It should be lavish and decorated, fit for their dignity and name. But this...honestly. This type of treatment is more terrible than Frederick's mother.

I've been living for hundreds of years, but terrible treatment of concubines are still happening right under my nose.

"Lady Carina, I am happy to see you," a woman with a voice as clear as a bell greeted. She's very beautiful...well...to describe it perfectly, she has a comfortable and gentle features that almost seemed like she is out of place to be at such a simple room as this.

Her pale skin and black raven hair that is the same as Vance, and that jade green eyes. It reminds me of a certain friend of mine. And that birthmark on the side of her neck...

I realized I've been staring at her. "Ah, I apologize. I am Carina, daughter of Duke Aspera. A pleasure to meet you, Lady Uld,".

That birthmark. That's definitely it!

"I see you recognize this birthmark,"

I raised my head quickly. Unlike her features, she is sharp. And her tone is cautious. "So you know about my clan, the Frigore," she raised her teacup to her lips.

"And it seems you even know Xenia, my knight's master. You helped my son, on the first night of your debut where in common sense you shouldn't mess it up. It doesn't feel impulsive, in my opinion,"

Uld sharpen her gaze. "Take a seat, Lady Carina, and tell me your intentions,".

I gave a slight smile. This concubine is smart and cautious.

I like her already.
