36 You Are Not A Burden

The temperature in Veritas was indeed cold, but warmth filled Ruby's heart after she heard Matthew's words.

She smiled gently, her eyes filled with tears as she moved her lips. "Thank you,"

Matthew grunted. "I told you to stop saying thank you, but just tell me how you feel."

When Matthew let go of her hand, Ruby wrote, "I feel happy, but also afraid that you will get into trouble if you go to a dangerous place."

"You don't have to worry about anything." Matthew said, "I'm not a man who can be killed easily."

If someone else said it, then Ruby would think that person was just talking nonsense. However, when she heard Matthew say it, for some reason, Ruby was sure that Matthew meant what he said.

"I believe in you, Matthew," said Ruby.

"Ruby can't be coming with me to Mount Parnassus!"
