Waking His Majesty Up

Dark elements emerged from under Matthew's feet, then crawled toward Diaz's shadow. Within seconds, the dark element swallowed his shadow.

The sword in Diaz's hand fell to the floor, and his body seemed to convulse from being unable to breathe as if something was covering his nose and mouth.

[Stop it! Please don't kill him!] Ruby shouted in her mind, hoping she would make him stop.

Her ruby eyes stared at Matius fiercely while her hands gripped his wrist tightly.

"Milady, your words couldn't stop me. In fact, I want to kill him even more if you insist like this."

On the verge of his pain, Diaz was still trying to pick up his sword and throw it at Matius. However, an invisible shield formed around the man, thus making Diaz's resistance useless.

"Your Majesty … you must wake up," Diaz said in a low voice.

If Matthew doesn't take over soon, then it's not only Diaz who will die but also Ruby, who is still in Matius's hands.

"It's useless for you to call Matthew! His desire to kill is extreme these days, so it will be hard to beat my consciousness."

Ruby suddenly realized something. The desire to kill is also one of the emotions within a person. If Ruby could neutralize those feelings, maybe she could wake Matthew.

All this time, Ruby's ability to neutralize someone's feelings always came out without her consciousness, and she couldn't control it. However, if Ruby wanted to balance Matthew's feelings right now, she needed to muster up enough magic power to suppress all the killing intent in Matthew's heart.

Ruby has never tried it, but there's nothing wrong with trying first.

Ruby then closed her eyes and tried to take a deep breath. Even though she had never received formal training to control magic, at least Ruby had read the theory from a book, so she had a basic knowledge of handling magic.

When she tried to focus her mind on the magical energy in her body, Ruby slowly felt something flowing through her body and moved towards her hand, which was still gripping Matthew's hand.

[Matthew! You have to wake up!]

Ruby deliberately shouted Matthew's name in her mind so the man could wake up from his subconscious.

Red energy radiated from Ruby's hands to Matthew's chest, then covered the man's entire body ,and tried to suppress the black aura around Matthew's body.

"What are you doing?!" Matius shouted.

The man felt like something was forcing him to sleep. Matius can also feel Matthew's presence which is getting stronger and stronger, and he wants to take over his body again.

"Stop it!" Matius wanted to strangle Ruby harder, but his grip suddenly loosened as Matthew's voice appeared in his mind.

"I already gave you a warning, Matius." Matthew's voice echoed in his mind. "Don't you dare to touch my wife with your filthy hands."

Matius's soul was drawn into his subconscious, which was filled with endless darkness. When he wanted to rebel again, dozens of iron spears suddenly appeared from various directions, then pierced Matius's body without mercy.

"You jerk, Matthew! Why do you always ruin my fun?!" Matius shouted as he tried to pull out the spear that pierced his body. However, the spears didn't move at all, even though Matius tried hard to pull them out, as if the spears were locked inside his body.

Matius's blue eyes then stared intently at the man standing before him. Their faces were identical; it was as if they were looking in a mirror.

Like Matius, Matthew's body is also covered in wounds from the spear.

Basically, they are the same person. If one is injured, the other also must bear the same wound.

"For me, your enjoyment is my nightmare."

A black shadow appeared from under the floor and crawled quickly toward Matius's feet. The shadow crawled all over Matius's body, looking like a snake coiled around its prey.

When the shadow reached Matius's neck, it pressed hard against Matius's body, forcing him to kneel before Matthew.

"Your power was indeed greater when you took over my body. But remember, Matius. I am still the ruler of our subconscious. Therefore, don't you dare go against me, or I will tear you apart until you can't recognize yourself."

Instead of fearing Matthew's threats, Matius looked at Matthew mockingly and laughed like a madman.

"Matthew! Have you forgotten that our souls are bound as one? If you tear me apart, it's the same as tearing yourself apart!" Matthew shouted, "Are you willing to sacrifice yourself to see me suffer?"

Matthew replied firmly, "If you ever touch Ruby with your dirty hands again, then I'm willing to do anything to make you suffer."

"Including killing yourself?"

"Yeah, including killing myself."

Matthew then turned and walked towards the golden door in the middle of the darkness. The door is a connector between the subconscious and his consciousness, so if Matthew opens the door, then Matthew can regain control of his body.

"Is it worth it?" Matius's voice sounded just before Matthew opened the door. "She's just a useless crippled woman, so why should you bother protecting her?"

Matthew turned his head. He let out a small chuckle as he said, "If Ruby is useless, how could she have been able to force you back to this place?"

Matius was silent for a moment. He no longer dared to reply to Matthew's words after remembering that his soul was forced to sleep after Ruby touched him.

There is something unusual in that woman, something that is able to bind Matius's strength.

"Matius, I am giving you a warning for your own good. Because if something bad happens to Ruby, then you're the one who will suffer."

Those words instantly made Matius feel shivers as if there was cold water pouring down his soul.

He didn't really understand what Matthew was saying, but his heart also warned him to listen to Matthew for once.

When Matius wanted to ask a question, Matthew's soul had already entered the door, leaving Matius alone in the darkness.

As soon as Matthew opened his eyes, he heard Diaz shout beside him. "Your Majesty! Are you really Your Majesty?!"

Matthew turned his head to Diaz, revealing two golden eyes that seemed to glow in the darkness. "Yes, you can relax now."

Diaz breathed a sigh of relief. He immediately dropped his sword when he was sure the man in front of him was Matthew Harelle, his king.

When Matthew wanted to move his body, he finally realized that his head was resting on Ruby's arm while the woman tightly gripped his right hand.

Her ruby eyes seemed to be filled with a deep glint of concern. Even Matthew could feel Ruby continuing to write something in Matthew's palm. However, because she wrote too hastily, Matthew couldn't understand the words she had written clearly.

Even so, at least Matthew could guess that Ruby wanted to ask about his condition.

"I'm fine, Milady," Matthew said with a gentle smile.
