15 Chapter 15 Mr. Smith

After Jin Wei and Victoria completed their morning baths, Victoria prepared breakfast for both of them. After satisfying their hunger, they left their residence.

As Victoria left the building, exposure to sunlight significantly weakened her strength.

"W-what is happening? W-why do I feel sick all of a sudden?" Victoria asked weakly as she realized she was sweating more than usual.

Jin Wei looked at her state and recalled that Victoria was now a vampire. In sunlight, her strength weakened significantly.

Fortunately, Jin Wei had brought an extra sunlight-resistant ring. While lacking an inventory feature, it had an auto-fit function. Without glancing at her, he placed a thin white ring with a red pattern on Victoria's ring finger, fitting her perfectly.

"W-what... are...?" Victoria began to complain but then realized she was no longer weakened, and her strength was back to normal.

"Take it as a gift," Jin Wei said as he walked in the direction indicated by his wristwatch.

Victoria was speechless for a moment but quickly regained her composure and walked behind Jin Wei since their classroom was in the same direction.

...

After 10 minutes of continuous walking, both of them finally reached their classroom.

Staring at the door to the classroom, Jin Wei smirked.

[A13]

The letter 'A' stood for the floor level, representing the floor level (A to E), and the number '13' represented the classroom number (1 to 20).

Jin Wei had a reason to smirk. If he remembers correctly then this room should be the classroom where the protagonist Liam and the other main characters stay for half of the novel. Many schemes and plots from jealous rivals and competitors happened in this class.

There is a phrase, 'Keep your friends close and your enemies closer.'

Jin Wei, who was a Mafia leader in his previous life, followed this rule his whole life, which helped him survive many times. So he was naturally happy that he got in the same room as the protagonist.

"Are you going in or not?" Victoria asked from the back with a bit of irritation.

Jin Wei nodded, went to the last back seat with Victoria, and then sat down.

Although Victoria wanted to sit in the front, seeing Jin Wei's insistent look, she sighed and went to the back with him.

The room was quite big, about a hundred students could easily study in this room.

...

"At the correct time of 8 AM, the teacher entered the room. He was a tall, lean old man with short light-colored hair, circular glasses, and an unkempt beard and mustache. His hair was parted on the left side, and his face showed distinct cheekbones and wrinkles. He wore a white shirt with rolled-up sleeves and dark gray pants, with his name written just above: 'Mr. Smith.'

Jin Wei knew him very well. In the original story, Mr. Smith was a big supporter of Liam.

Mr. Smith was a character influenced by his father, Erwin. Erwin wanted to save humanity and to do that, he did everything he could. Before he died, he created another him by manipulating his son.

Mr. Smith inherited his father's way of manipulating people. Despite having no talent for cultivation and being just a peak Bronze rank cultivator at the age of 36, his value in the military was higher than some strong sergeants.

Since the military couldn't use him in war due to his lack of strength, they employed him to manipulate young students into becoming pawns for the military. In battle, these students would be willing to sacrifice their lives for the greater good of humanity.

While lost in thought, he suddenly heard a noise, snapping him back to reality.

"Hello, everyone! I am your new history teacher. You can call me Mr. Smith. If you have any questions, please let me know. I will try my best to help, regardless of your ranking," Mr. Smith said with a genuine smile.

"Now that my introduction is done, I will begin attendance. Please respond after you hear your name and ranking," Mr. Smith said in a gentle tone and started attendance with his tablet.

"Rank 845, Joey Chuck."

As soon as the name was called, a small young man with nerdy glasses raised his hand and said weakly, "Present!"

Nodding, Mr. Smith continued,

"Rank 632, Troy Morrison."

"Present!"

"Rank 445, Julius Halfwing."

"Present!"

...

...

As attendance continued, Joey realized that he ranked last in the class, and the second last was 200 ranks higher than him, making him the weakest in the class. This realization made Joey more fearful.

Liam, who was right beside him, comforted Joey as they were roommates.

"Rank 15, Sakura Gleam."

"Present."

"Rank 11, Liam Sin."

"Present," Liam said with a smile. In the novel, Liam ranked 10th, but because of Jin Wei, his rank now decreased by one.

"Rank 10, Timothy Bartman."

"Present."

"Rank 9, Amanda Stern."

"Present."

"Rank 8, Lily Foster."

"Present."

"..."

"..."

"Rank 5, Jimmy Tempest."

"Present."

"Rank 4, Melissa Hall."

"Present."

"Rank 3, Victoria Scarlet."

"Present," Victoria, right beside Jin Wei, said with a cold tone. Since she was sitting in the last seat, no one noticed her before, but now, as everyone saw her, they fell for her. In their hearts, they already began to think of her as their goddess.

Some girls began to feel jealous, but they knew they couldn't compare to her. If only her rank were low, she might have suffered from bullying because of her beauty.

"Rank 2, Jin Wei."

"Present," Jin Wei said in a cold tone without even looking at Mr. Smith. Just like in Victoria's case, Jin Wei also garnered many gazes and praise. Just looking at him, they began to think he was some idol or something, and now many girls wanted to try their chance with him.

"Rank 1, Rex Voss."

"Present."

With Rex, the attendance finally finished. Now that everyone thought carefully, they realized that all the first 11 students were in the same class, even though the selection was random. This surprised everyone.

Now that the attendance was over, Jin Wei spotted all the main characters of this novel world. This was a great help for him.

After that, Mr. Smith started his history lesson, which lasted for about two hours. Since Jin Wei had no interest in the topic, he taught Victoria how to talk through telepathy with him during the class. This was only possible due to their connected soul.

After the class was done, Mr. Smith left with a friendly smile, and some low-ranking students already saw him as their idol.

Because his behavior was kind toward everyone, including those with low ranks, and he always wore a smile on his face, it left a positive impression on everyone.

On top of that, he also gave much motivation to all the students and explained how he was weak, and had no talent, but still achieved many things in his life and became the teacher of the military academy. He also didn't forget to praise the military here and there. This motivated everyone to work hard.
