4 First Night

****

After awhile Kayden came to the city wall where he could vaguely see the outline of the entrence which was lit up by large torches on either side.

'You know, this place would probably look pretty nice if I actually could see anything.' Kayden thought.

He walked up to the gate and passed the guards who seemed to ignore him. They were talking amongst themselves and Kayden was unable to fully make out what they were saying.

"So it seems that the two of them have yet to return..."

"There is always the possibility that they may have....."

"It's not like they could do any worse than....."

Kayden picked up bits and pieces but he threw it into the back of his mind and continued out into the grasslands outside Irella City.

Kayden wandered through the darkness and thought of two problems.

He cursed himself. He had no weapons or abilities and even if he could try hunt with his bare hands he cant see in the dark. And gemini had no particular attack ability which was not very useful in the grasslands.

***

The grasslands were just a large open field, with the occasional rock formation and tree here and there. The air was warm and humid and the wind blowing over the grasses made for a soft breeze.

Kayden was at a lost now.

''Whats wrong?'' Gemini asked as Kayden had stopped moving.

''.....no weapon, no skills, no night vision.'' Kayden was unsure of what else to say.

''.....''

''....''

''...Ah!'' Gemini finally realised

''...''

''...Hmm, there should be a outbuilding here somewhere for resting hunters... maybe someone will have some spoils you can buy?'' Gemini suggested

''Alright this is the only chance I have now or I think I may starve to death.'' Kayden said.

''Right then, lets go.'' Gemini said.

'Will this end up being another dead end...' Kayden thought.

Kayden was walking down a dirt path when he came across a small wooden house, the light appeared to be on inside. He decided to ask whoever was there for food. The door was unlocked so he stepped in, the inside was filled with clutter, old furniture and bookshelves and closer to the window was some animals hung up.

Kayden walked past all of the items and went up to a room which appeared to be the living area.

Kayden knocked on the door.

No answer.

He turned the handle and pushed the door open, he was greeted by a man in his mid thirties.

He was dressed in a black cloak. He was carrying a sword at his hip and wore a bow around his waist.

''Hello, I'm looking to purchase some animal spoils. Are they yours over there?' Kayden asked.

The man nodded.

''Yes, those are my spoils. A few wild boars, deer and a fox.'' The man stated.

''Would you be able to sell me a Boar? Im not sure what price you want for it...'' Kayden asked.

Kayden was slightly worried of being swindled, he didnt really know the value of money in this world. The pouch he got from the guild included 5 gold coins, 25 silvers and 75 copper coins. He wasnt sure if this was a little or a lot of money.

The man seemed to be silent before nodding and pulled out a bag. ''10 silvers'' He said.

Kayden gave the man 10 silvers. He didnt feel like the man was conning him and that it was a pretty good deal.

Kayden thanked the man and found a vacent room. He dragged the boar into the room and made sure to lock it.

This lodge held several bedrooms they were in rough condition and quite small only about 2-3 metres long. enough for a bed, a side table and a chair. But it would have to do, and considering it was free Kayden didnt mind.

'The boar had been killed for awhile and the blood should of congealed a lot by now' Kayden thought

''How should I even drink from this...'' Kayden muttered

The Boar had a thick skin with tuffs of hair in places. It was a dirty dark brown colour and had a big belly. Its head was covered in fur and its body was short and muscular.

Kayden stared at the beast, he knew he needed to drink blood.

''Might as well try it,...'' Kayden said.

Kayden grabbed the boars neck and by instinct he then took his fangs and pierced the Boar, the blood tasted salty but sweet but there wasnt a lot from just the one puncture wound so he had to try it in several places to get enough.

Gemini witnessed all of this.

''...Are you a savage?'' Gemini spoke bewilderdly

''How else do you expect me to get Blood? Kayden complained.

But Kayden had to agree with Geminis comments, looking at the Boar that appeared ravaged I dont think anyone would want to touch this after hes gnawed on it here and there...

Kayden had to admit the process wasnt great it would be best if the beast was fresh then it would be a lot smoother. He even had a bit of the boars fur stuck in his teeth which made him want to throw up.

''...well thats it.'' Kayden decided to dispose of the corpse now before heading to bed.
