Chapter 9 Flee

Liam and Albert were talking and Anna was standing behind Liam. The nurse was preparing the medicine and injection for Albert Lewis.

"It's time for your injection." the nurse informed them.

Albert nods hearing her and places his hand forward so she doesn't have any problem when giving the injection.

"Done!" the nurse replied, retrieving the injection and rubbing small cotton to close the pores.

"Here is your medicine and You should let the patient rest so that he recovers fast." the nurse told him after placing the medicine and warned Liam and Anna before turning around. "I will come later to check on your condition."

"I understand and thank you." Liam nods at her.

Albert Lewis glanced from his bed to see if there was any other nurse or doctor left after she left.

"Xiao Liam, listen , I want to say something important to you." checking there was no one other than him, Liam and Anna, he turned to grab Liam's attention. Speaking in a weak but serious tone.

Liam pays attention to his father listing his serious tone. "What happened? Do you want me to call the doctor?"

"I want you to leave this state." Albert Lewis shakes his head and tells aliam.

"W-what?" Liam was startled when his father suddenly told him to leave this place. "But why?"

"You don't need to know that for now. Just go somewhere far away from here." Albert refuses to inform Liam about anything.

"How can I leave you in this condition?" Liam denies his father shaking his head.

"You can't stay here. It's dangerous here." Albert Lewis tries to persuade Liam.

Liam was adamant about his decision to not leave his father's side. And more so after listening to it, it's dangerous.

Albert was caught in a dilemma not knowing how to convince Liam. He knew it would be hard to persuade Liam to leave his side in this state. Even if he was healthy Liam won't leave his family no matter what.

It was a headache for Albert to persuade Liam. He was looking for any other route to induce Liam to leave here when his sight caught Anna standing behind Liam.

Albert tried to communicate with her through his eyes. Conveying his message to persuade Liam to leave here.

Anna was in crisis looking at Mr Lewis's pleading gaze. She treated Mr Lewis like a father so she was a bit uncomfortable by watching him pleading with her.

Nonetheless, she understood one thing; that it has to be something very hazardous and will put Lewis's life at risk. That's why Mr Lewis didn't want Liam to stay here and leave as far as possible.

"I... I think you should listen to uncle." Anna tried to meddle in and convince Liam.

"W-what? You too?" Liam was shocked after hearing Anna, siding with his father.

"It had to be something dangerous. Otherwise, why would uncle try to send you away?" Anna not letting him finish got to the crux of the problem.

"Xiao Liam you should listen to me and Anna and leave from here as soon as possible, and try to live a happy life." Albert also told the same thing to Liam as he smiled weakly with a fatherly expression.

"B-but..." Liam wanted to refute.

"You both should leave now!" Albert started abruptly looking at Liam then shifting his gaze to Anna.

Anna nodded at Mr Lewis and held Liam's hands pulling him out of the chair and dragging him through the door.

"Father..." Liam keeps calling to his father as Anna pulls him through the door.

Anna uses a bit of her force and drags him out of the room making their way downwards.

Two people were walking in the corridor holding their hands. One of whom was a handsome male and the other was a very gorgeous and elegant young lady, but if one looked closely they could see that their appearance was quite dishevelled.

The young lady was pulling the man walking through the hallways with hurried steps. Echoes of footsteps could be heard as the hospital ward was empty at this moment. This young man and woman were Liam and Anna.

*Tap... Tap... Tap... Tap...!*

At that time more footsteps were ringing in the background.

Liam tried to turn his face and look behind in the direction of the footsteps but Anna squeezed his hand tight making him turn to look at her.

"Don't turn around; they are here. Just continue walking." Anna informed as she hurried her steps.

*Tap... Tap...!*

In the background, the sound of footsteps increased after Anna heightened her pace. It can be clearly interpreted that they are following Anna and Liam from their reactions.

Anna starts running, Liam also runs behind her. Existing hospital gate and going toward the direction of her car.

"Get them! Don't let them escape!" one of the men shout from behind looking at Anna and Liam started running as they run after them.

"Quickly get in the car." Anna opens the car door and started the car.

*Wroom!*

"Shit! Hurry open the gate. We can't let them leave." watching them getting in the car one of the men shouted to prepare the car and chase after them.

*Wroom!*

From above, the scene looks beautiful. As the moon shines in the atmosphere reflecting its image in a puddle of water.

*Splash!*

The image of the beautiful moon got distorted when a car crashed on it; Splashing the water everywhere on the road.

*Splash!*

Another car was following closely.

"Hurry up and overtake them!" one of the men yells while looking forward, "it would be bad if we can't catch them, you don't want to bear the consequences, do you?" everyone shivered listening to him.

"Give me the gun."

"What about the girl?" one of them asked worriedly and told, "we can't hurt her or it would cause a problem"

"There would be an even bigger problem if we don't catch them! So shut up and give me the gun." he bellowed, searching out his hand for the gun.

"Don't blame me for anything later." He opened the window aiming ahead with the gun and started shooting.

*Bang... Bang... Bang...!*

*Clank... Clank... Clank!*

All the shots were the metal frames of the car and didn't break any glass of the car.

"We have to reach the airport terminal as soon as we can. I guess they won't try to chase after us because of the airport police and security," Anna suggested after hearing gunshots it was good that the bullet didn't puncture any of the rear wheels. She started to zig-zag while driving to avoid the bullet.

"Shit! Shit! Shit! That bitch." her pursuer cursed at her bravery.

"What are you doing? you fucker! Speed up, they are nearing the airport." he hit the driver telling him to catch up to them.

"What are we gonna do now?" Liam asked concerned as the chasers were still persistent to follow them.

"I have an acquaintance in the airport authority let me get his help and see if there is any flight waiting to tack off." Anna grabs her mobile phone and dials a number.

*Ring... Ring...!*

"Hello! Anastasia, is that you?" A somewhat hoarse voice sounded from another side of the call.

"Hello! Uncle Greg, I need your help..." Anna told him about their situation and asked if there was any flight waiting to tack off.

"Don't stress! I will arrange everything. You just come here." Uncle Greg assured her preparing for the arrangements.

"Thank you very much!" Anna heaved a sigh of relief hearing that.

"B-but, what about you?" Liam asked her from the passenger seat looking at her worriedly.

"Don't worry! They are after you. They won't try to do anything to me." Anna smiled at him.

"B-but..." Liam wanted to say something but they already reached the airport. "Look, we are here."

Anna turns the car into the airport parking lot. Opening the gate she holds Liam's hand and checks in the airport.

"Miss you can't go in without a ticket." The security check stopped Liam and Anna, denying their entry.

"Let them in!" At that time a hoarse voice sounded and they all turned to look in the direction of the voice.

"Uncle Greg!" Anna voiced out watching a middle-aged man walking in their direction.

The security guards salute Uncle Greg as Uncle Greg is higher officials of the airport authority. And they didn't want to anger him. So, they allowed Liam and Anna through.

"Please come!"

Liam and Anna toward the queue to board the plane.

"Anna.." Liam called out to her.

"Get going! Go somewhere far away. I will try to find you when everything calms down." Anna tried to smile but it seemed like they were crying but still she didn't let him see her in this state.

"I-i..." Liam was interrupted when a voice rang out.

"Please hurry up! There are also other passengers waiting in the line." the guard informs Liam.

"Just go, okay! Take care!"

After taking a last glance at his girlfriend and fiancee, Liam boards the plane.

After Liam left Anna's eyes blurred and tears started to fall like a waterfall. Watching the plane take off, her face was stained with tears as they continued to fall. Anna watches the plane fly away until it vanishes into the clouds. Standing there contemplating.

"M***ck! They got away." a man with a gun curses as he watches Liam and Anna driving into the airport.

They knew they would not be able to chase after them now. Or they will be doomed. Which they are as they didn't complete the mission.

"What are we going to say to the client?" the driver asked at the same time the phone rang.

*Ring... Ring...!*

"Fuck! It's her." he cursed at his bad luck.

"Miss~" he answered the call when the other side cut him off.

"Did you get the work done?" from the other side a cold voice sounded sending shivers down their spins.

"I... I am sorry Miss! But they got away." he replied, beads of sweat formed on his temple.

"Tck, useless!" she clicked her tongue and asked the details. "How?"

"He boarded the plane and the girl was with him. She helped him," he answered, explaining the details of a car chase till reaching the airport. All the incidents without hiding anything, because he doesn't want to end his life early.

"That dog! Better not come in front of me or I will make his life more miserable." she snorted and cut the call.

"I felt like I was walking on lava." he sighed and wiped his sweat.

"She is like a viper." another one commented.

"I bet she is; I don't want to get to her bad side." After that they left the location.
