I Am The Witness

The life of a 26-year old author, Aixela Louisiana Supresencia, was simple with her mother and sister who raised her. Aixela was orphaned early because of a mishap that caused her to meet the man who turned into her inspiration in writing her novels. This man is the one who saved her life. Aixela dreams of becoming a famous author like her late mother but the right time for her rise has not yet come so she just continues to write and take care of their family business where she met her boyfriend Louis. Her relationship with her boyfriend went well until it gradually cooled down and changed. One day she decided to visit the grave of her bereaved mother. She does it every year but unexpectedly, this visit will make a big difference in her life. On her way back to the airport, she accidentally witnessed a crime that caused her and Police Inspector John Dether Anton Dy Jr. to cross paths. Anton was the police officer who helped her when the culprit tried to chase her. He also provided a witness protection program to Aixela where they had to live under the same roof to guarantee her security. Anton has dreamed since he was a child to be a good detective like his late father and as he was preparing for his promotion test, he met Aixela which also caused him to change his outlook in life. The two did not get along well with each other at first, but later they became sympathetic to each other, especially when Anton helped Aixela to move on when she broke up with her long-term boyfriend who fooled her. Aixela, on the other hand, helped Anton prepare for his promotion test. The two became close to each other and investigated the case together. Along with the various trials they faced while resolving the case was the deepening of their feelings to each other until they discovered something.

:Moving On

Aixela's Pov:

When we left the farm, Officer Dy immediately went straight to the precinct. I told him to rest first, but he said he still had work to finish. He just drove me here to the house and told me to rest. Yet of the two of us, he was more tired.

After I changed my clothes, I lay down on the couch and forced myself to sleep, but every time I close my eyes, the scene in the restaurant is what I remember.

I tried to get that scene out of my mind, but it really couldn't be removed. So I thought of entertaining myself. But when I opened my cell phone, a picture of the two of us appeared on my wallpaper.

I immediately went to my gallery and searched for my best picture. I made it my wallpaper. I also searched for all the pictures of Louis and me and tried to delete them, but my hand seemed to have a life of its own, and I couldn't remove it.

Until Denise's face suddenly appeared on the screen. She was calling.

"Hey, girl! Look what I've ---" she stopped speaking when she noticed my face.

"Why did you stop? Just keep going. I'm listening," I faked a smile.

"What happened?" She asked.

"Shouldn't I be the one asking that?" I tried to giggle.

"What happened?" she repeated with a lower tone.

I took a deep breath. I was forcing myself to smile, but my eyes could no longer stop the tears I was hiding.

"We're--" I sobbed subconsciously. "We're done.."

She pressed her forehead. "What did he do?"

"I saw him--"

"Ok, stop. Let's not talk about him."

"I'm sorry..."

"Sorry for what?"

"I didn't listen to you."

"Bitch, it's not your fault. Just shut up, ok?" she said which made me laugh a bit. "What do you want me to do with him and his snake? Do you want me to bury them alive?"

"Silly," I giggled. "Don't worry about me. I feel much better now. Thanks to you and Officer Dy."

"Why? What did he do?"

"He just made me realize how stupid I was."

"I'm sorry to say this, but it's good to hear. Finally, you hit your head on a rock and wake up from that foolish love. Just remember, never let yourself be fooled by him again. For sure, one day or two, he will call you. Listen to him but don't believe him. Just have closure and the end, hmm?"

I just nodded.

"You're old enough to make your own decisions. I'm just here to support you or to bash you. And I hope I'm going to support your decision this time."

"For now, I want to focus on myself first. We still haven't talked after the confrontation happened at the restaurant, and I think I'm still not ready to talk to him. I want to make sure that I can face him before talking to him. I want to rebuild myself first. Of course, my heart can't be fixed overnight, so yeah."

"Yes, you're right. Just remember, I'm only one call away. And don't push yourself too much. Take one step at a time. Moving on is a long process, so you don't have to rush things out."

"Copy!"

"So, what are you going to do for now? Do you want me to visit you there?"

"No need. I know you have a lot of things to do there. And Mama will be left alone there, so don't worry about me. I'm just heartbroken and not paralyzed. For now, I think I would use this feeling to make a novel. I have to make myself busy. Besides, I already miss writing. So instead of just looking at the cops on the precinct, why not make a story, right? This heartache will be my foundation and inspiration for the new novel I will make. We never know if it can be published here."

"Right, sissy! I support you! I'm excited to read that novel."

"Thanks, Denise. Also, can you just tell Mama about Louis and me? Maybe I'll just be crying when I told her. You know how crybaby we are, right? Besides, I want to talk to Mama about that when I'm really ok already."

"You have nothing to worry about. Just focus on making the better version of your heart. The tougher and the wiser version, hm?"

"Noted."
