The status panel suddenly started to glitch only for it to disappear and reappear a few times then again for it to disappear only for it to not reappear this time, instead that interference prompt appeared again before another different prompt appeared

My status window only kept showing "connecting.. and failed to connect".

That night I couldn't even blink an eye, I stayed awake the whole night. I thought of escaping the place. I did not want to experience anything like that again, I could not fall asleep, I kept looking at the clock and it looked like the hands were barely moving at all. It was grueling

So, I went outside and sat on the grass stargazing.

The camp was a school, thus it had a lot of ground unlike last time where it was a road in front of a building and the whole area was a concrete jungle without any greenery, So at least this time there won't be much destruction, if the monsters were to appear again, with the government agencies here I am sure they would defeat them quickly before anything happens. So did I think at the time, I didn't know any better. I didn't know what the morning would bring.

When the morning came someone had woken me up, while they were cleaning the ground. I did not know when I had fallen asleep stargazing.

It was our first day in camp. Everyone who had arrived yesterday was tasked with some duty, some were sent to the kitchen, some were on cleaning duty, some were put on duty making sure that we were prepared all the time if anything like that happened again.

The soldiers ran laps around the ground as some trained in the middle of it, some sat in a group and introduced themselves, while some stayed alone and kept to themselves like me. I was injured, So, I was allowed to rest, thus I was not assigned any duty.

That's how the day went on till noon, but that incident happened. that incident, that changed everything in the camp.

I was in my bed, fast asleep at the time when it first appeared, So I don't know about the reaction of those who were there when it first appeared in the sky, the giant floating prompt that read

I was woken by the sound of the sirens prompting everyone to assemble up outside, thus I went on running outside as fast as I could.

A barrier was erected preventing everyone from escaping like the last time, the timer went off.

Someone tried to snatch a gun from a soldier and one soldier ended up firing at him he fell to the ground immediately, a woman ran over to him crying and went on to check over him if he was still alive. I later learned that it was the dead guy's wife.

A few guys from the crowd also stepped forward and went, then only for one of them to cover the dead guy's eyes as he nodded his head and prayed over him then they carried his body away.

Everyone was in total shock, as the gun dropped from the hand of the soldier who had shot the guy as his hands started to shake violently, as he looked over everyone's faces. Maybe it was only because he was a conscript and not a full-time soldier or the fact that it was his first time killing someone, or both.

We all thought that was the end of it, but it was just the beginning once the blood had been spilled, it did not matter how much more to be spilled.

As everyone looked horrified at what they saw, the +1 point. Now the status quo was broken and someone could get the loot crate even if others did not kill each other, thus was the motive I would guess for those who started firing.

As points riled up the ground became a barrage of bodies, people went running in all directions, those who fell on the ground or those who tripped over others or the bodies none got to see daylight again.

Many even stole guns, those who did not have guns fought barehanded, although the soldiers acquired a lot of points compared to the ones who didn't have fighting or did not have any shooting experience or those who fought barehanded or were choking people by hands, even there ammunition were to come to an end eventually.

Thus many hid or at least tried to...even the children were not spared from this carnage, Since their life also counted as 1 point, and they were easier targets compared to the soldiers and all that was on people's mind were just points.

It was not as if I was left unscratched either, Someone did come running toward me with a fire extinguisher in hand, but was knocked out by someone else before they could reach me, as I stood there the carnage went around me.

But since I was just at the school building's entrance I could just go inside running and hide somewhere till all this was over.

A guy came flying out of the second-floor window and fell on the ground before he got up and got inside again with just a jump. He was probably awakened and one of those who had lied about not receiving a reward from the system like me.

But it was not like I just stood there till the end untouched or without killing anyone,

An awakened person came out of the building breaking a wall and stood in front of everyone for a moment while everyone looked at him. Before he went flying at a fearsome speed and before a blink of an eye everyone was on the ground and the ground was clear of fighting.

I thought of going inside to take a look at what was happening inside but as I was about to I saw the awakened in front of a child who looked upon him with a dagger in his hand, shaking.

In my guts I knew what was going to happen, I did look at the door and thought about heading inside but I was somehow hit by my conscience looking at the child.

Although I was quite frail, I tried my best at the moment I went running toward them and managed to go in front of the child and cover him just as the awakened guy tried to pierce him with his hand at that moment, my skill unlocked
