"Side Chap" The One Who Used To Be a Hero/ The Queen of Jistav.

(Everything happening in this chap is happening within a non specified timeframe from the end of the war. So could be a week could be a couple of years. I didn't want to set a specific date and then have timeline issues.)

~The one who used to be a hero.~

Hello there, my name is Masayuki Honjou. And I am not a hero.

A lot of things have happened since I was suddenly transported into this new world. But I can only say that my life here only really started until I met the leader of this nation. Once I was free from the skill that made everyone look up to me I have found my life to be simpler.

And I like it.

"Ah, good job on the designs today Masayuki! Don't tell anyone else, but I heard that you are getting a promotion soon. Keep up the good work!" Said a vampire wearing researcher clothing.

"Ah, Sigrid-san, thank you. It sort of feels like I was built for this job. I can only be thankful to Ramiris-san for giving me the job."

Sigrid patted my back while laughing.

"I told you to drop the -San. Aren't we friends? Tell the wifey I say hi. And remember that we are meeting up with Cedric and the rest in five hours."

"I'll see you all soon."

Sigrid, Cedric, and the rest were friends I had made after I lost my chosen hero skill. My fears were kind of confirmed as I grew distant from the ones who were following me when I was a hero.

Two of them even vanished without saying anything.

But I must have had some leftover luck in me since it didn't take long for me to meet Sigrid. And through him, I made more friends. Real friends.

Grabbing through the streets of Tempest I went around my day. Buying the food on the list that June had given me.

On my way home I passed through a small cafe that brought back some memories. And just on time, she emerged while holding a small bag in her hands.

"Masayuki!" a light-green-haired woman smiled brightly before giving me a quick kiss on the cheek.

It was June, a water nymph, and my wife.

We had met the day after I lost my status as a hero and I was wandering around Tempest. She saw me looking all lost and decided to join me for a walk to help me become familiar with Tempest. And the rest is history.

The best part. I know she loves me for who I am, and not because of some skill that couldn't be turned off.

We had ended up getting married some months after meeting each other. But by the time it happened, it felt right. Plus, that was just sort of how things worked for monsters' relationships. And June, being a nymph, was even getting a bit worried after some time had passed without the question coming up.

June began to tell me about her day with an excited tone as we made our way to our home.

"You wouldn't believe what happened today! We had to beat up a Kraken that came tried to steal our fish. But then I said to him 'No you don't Mr. Kraken. If you want a portion of what we caught you have to work for it.…"

~The Queen of Jistav.~

A beautiful elf was currently in an office. She was looking out of the window thinking about all that had happened in the past months.

She had been able to reunite with her citizens whom she had lost. Thanks to everyone's efforts, the environment has been restored to what it once was. They had been able to go into the ruins of Jistav and they had recovered a lot of the knowledge that had been lost along with some old artifacts.

And with Adalman as the lead researcher, they had started the process to begin the research of magic. It was Kagali's hope that they would be able to bring Jistav to their past glory. And all signs seemed to point that way.

Now she just wanted to get rid of the final burden on her heart.

"How are ya enjoying the crown?" Laplace said as he appeared in the room.

"It is not too bad…" Kagali answered with a light chuckle.

"So about the thing ya wanted to talk about…" Laplace said, sitting down with the rest of the Jesters.

Kagali looked down sadly at the people walking through the streets before turning towards her Jesters.

"He's dead."

Noticing her expression they stood up and brought her into a group hug.

She had told them about it.

Rimuru had discovered the soul of her father among the souls that used to make up Footman.

At first, he had simply been kept inside of Rimuru's stomach to deal with later as per her request. And now that everything seemed to be going well she had asked him to bring her father out.

Jahil was brought back in what was basically a useless body. Incapable of using or interacting with magicules. His limbs had special chains that weighed so much until the point he could hardly move. All of this for her to ask him one question.

"Why?"

She wanted to hear the reason why he had done so much to their kingdom and to her now that he would be unable to lie. Maybe in hopes of receiving a different answer. But she received the same thing she had been told in the past.

"Because it is fun"

With nothing else to say to him, and with the assistance of Rimuru, they destroyed his soul. Leaving absolutely nothing behind.

But the few moments she spent in the same room as him were enough to awaken all of the emotions she had felt back when she was a child. So she called the Jesters.

She spilled her emotions onto her family before calming down. And once she had a moment to breathe she reached out to their faces and removed their masks. Finally revealing the faces that they had hid for her sake. Back when she was still wearing the deformed face in the body her father had placed her in.

"I think…. We don't need these anymore. We can move on." She said while holding the masks tightly in her hand.

"Hehehe, the ladies better watch out. Now that Footman isn't wearing his mask all of them are going to be falling head over heels for him." Tear said with a playful tone as she began to dance with joy around the room.

Footman could only chuckle to himself as Tear's joy began to affect the air all around them.

"Boss, I called the day off in the guild. Want to celebrate? It has been a long time since the last time we had a proper celebration of our own." Laplace said as he began to look at the exited Jesters.

"To the Moderate Jesters!" Tear exclaimed while lifting an empty glass after hearing the word celebration.

~A/n~

Bit of a shorter chap at 1.3k, but I couldn't think of something else to add to it that shouldn't just be a chap of its own.

Are there any big loose ends that I should revisit in a chap like this? Let me know if you remember any.

And, is there anything you would want to see in a slime diary special before the story ends?

There are still a few chaps before it ends, but I am just finishing up making the list for what's left.

And a bit of an appetizer for the next chap. "Ciel."
