29 An Ugly Green Problem: Conflict

"...yeah, I'll see you then." Spider-Man replied cutting the call as he landed on top of Dr Connors house. "Eryl, blackout."

"Done." Eryl said as the lights went out just as the sunset behind him. Spider-Man closed his face eyes and actively used his enhanced Spider-Sense, marked the layout of the building and pinpointed the location where each of Norman's henchmen were stationed at. "All the best."

"Yeah, thanks." Spider-Man replied as he jumped down onto the lawn as he heard the guards inside scramble as the lights went off. Landing behind a guy without making any noise he grabbed the man's mouth and twisted it before he could make any noise.

Webbing the dead body to the wall he buckles a bit and jumps up in the air as a guy arrives turning around the corner to stumble back in shock as he finds his fellow man webbed to a wall.

"Shit! He's here-" Spider-Man landed directly on him. Grabbing his face and slamming it onto the cobblestone lawn pavement. The man's face was permanently imprinted on the pavement. Hearing the shuffling noise the men who were at Gates came rushing from the same corner. Spider-Man webbed their face before they could make any noise and jumped towards them. The two men's eyes widened as he saw to fist approaching but the fist was the least of their worries. Spider-Man ejected his stingers and impaled both of the men, dead in the face, piercing through the skull killing them. Webbing their dead bodies together Spider-Man knocked on the door twice.

"Charlie?! Could you open up this fucking door! This bloody door just locked me out, mate! Fuck! I'm pissed!" Spider-Man said with a British accent.

"Keep it down ya rascal! I'm coming. Jax go check why the lights went out. The generator is in the basement and beat the bitch up if she makes a fuss." A voice answered as he felt footsteps approach and a few seconds later the door opened up. "Oh, it's open you dumbass. Who's Charlie by the way-oomph."

Spider-Man drove the stinger straight in his neck as he severely punctured through the man's throat not allowing him to scream.

Letting the body fall in front of the door other the home Spider-Man kicked the limp leg of the man out of the way as he closed the door behind him.

Taking a deep breath and spreading out his Spider-Sense once again he sighed as planned his next move. Secreting pheromones he filled the room with it and smirked to himself as he sensed the men in the house approach him a few moments later.

He ejected his other stingers as the men approached him in a trance-like state. Casually cutting their throat or stabbing them in the heart Spider-Man left dead bodies in his wake as he walked towards the basement.

"Eryl, basement lights please." Climbing down the stairs Spider-Man was greeted with the sight of a henchman holding Martha Connors hostage as the basement light lit up courtesy of Eryl.

"Spider-Man..." Martha looked on in disbelief which turned into a slight sense of relief. The henchman becomes even more agitated as Spider-Man approached him.

"S-Spider-Man! You... You stay away from me! O-Or... Or I'll kill you." The man threatened as Spider-Man stopped in his track making the man smirk.

"Good evening, Mrs Connors, nameless mob." Spider-Man greeted casually as he resumed walking them. "I'm sorry you had to go through all of that-"

"Are you fucking deaf! I said I'll kill her!"

"Umm... Man, I... I heard you clearly. It's just that I'm not interested in poor decisions." Spider-Man said shrugging his shoulders. "Do you think killing her is going to stop me from killing you? Nah, I'll just have more than enough motivation to torture you. Are you into pain? Sure go ahead do that. Cause once I'm through you, I'll make you regret being born."

Spider-Man's words worked like magic the man was scared out of his mind and under the effect of pheromones let's go of Martha. Spider-Man approached Martha and catches her before she hits the ground.

"Sleep well, Martha." Spider-Man said putting her to sleep. Carrying her in his hand he prepared to leave but stopped as he turned his head back a bit to look at the last henchman.

"Do me a favour will ya?" Spider-Man asked in a faux polite manner as the eyes of the man glazes over and stops shaking.

"Kill yourself." Spider-Man said, continuing to walk out of the basement as the man placed his own gun against his head.

*Bang!*

A muffled voice of a gunshot is heard accompanied by the noise of a dead body hitting the ground only a second later.

"All clear." Spider-Man said as he set Martha on the couch. "Hostiles down, hostage secured."

"Roger, coming in." Yuri replied.

"And I have a little gift for you." Trish said over the comms as Spider-Man raised an eyebrow in curiosity.

The main door opened and Yuri came in along with several officers. Looking at the dead bodies Yuri just raised an eyebrow as she kicked on lightly.

"You know-"

"Of course, I was gonna knock them unconscious so once I was unaware one could just get up and shoot me in the ass."

Yuri gaped like a fish before closing her mouth and nodding. "Fair enough. But I was just saying it's a hassle to dispose of all these bodies."

"And that's my problem?" Spider-Man grinned which caused Yuri to sigh in exhaustion while the rest of the officers snickered.

"I guess not." Yuri sighed before she grinned back at him. "Jackass."

"Can't deny that." Spider-Man shrugged as Trish walked on with two officers behind her who were dragging Norman's henchman who was flailing around trying to escape.

"Your gift." Trish grinned as the officer's tossed the man in front of Spider-Man feet. The man groaned and then scrambled to get up but Spider-Man just stomped him on his back pinning him to the ground.

"Awww. I'm flattered." Spider-Man cupped his checks as Trish giggled to herself. "Such a good girl. It seems your team leader could learn something from you."

"I know right." Trish giggled as Yuri just rolled in her eyes.

"Now, let me get busy with my gift and open it." Spider-Man said with a vicious grin.

"No! Don't! You don't understand what you are doing!" The man screamed in fear as Spider-Man dragged him inside a room and closed the room door. "My boss! He'll kill you!"

"That's my problem." Spider-Man said as he threw himself on the chair and webbed it up. "You should be worried about what I am going to do to you."

Ejected his stinger Spider-Man placed the tip right below his eye as the tip pricked the skin. The man's pupil contracted in fear as Spider-Man's visor glowed ominously.

"Now... I'm going to need you to spill your guts out for me and if you don't, I promise you, I am going rip it out from your stomach with my bare hands." Spider-Man said causing the man to shiver in his place.

"M-Monster!"

"Cute." Spider-Man chucked as he increased the pressure causing the man to wince in pain. "Now... Where is Osborn?"

"I... I don't know-aaaahhhh!"

------

"Damn man." An officer shivered as the screams finally died down. "I don't want to imagine myself being in that guy's place."

"I know what you mean." His partner replied.

The door opened as Spider-Man walked out of the room. Wiping the blood off his mask and his hand with the bloodied shirt of his victim he threw it on the ground as he looked at the people staring at him with pale faces.

"What? Did you want to do the interrogation? Should have said so."

"Nah, It's alright." An officer said as he called the 'cleaners' to come and take the body away.

The 'cleaners' are another part of the NYPD directly under Harvey. Cleaners were secretive and only answered Harvey or Yuri, they were in charge of cleaning the mess of covert operations or cleaning behind Spider-Man.

"Umbra has secured hostage, Martha Connors née Stephens." Yuri said over to her radio. "Escorting her to the station."

Team Umbra was the team assigned to deal with certain threats with a certain lethality. The team started under the joint effort of Spider-Man and Yuri along with her friends and fellow officers who shared similar ideals that some threats required a more 'permanent' solution. After the Maggia attack, the team was made an official part of NYPD.

Threats were dealt with accordingly. No negotiation, no bullshit. Just execution.

"Roger." Yuri responded on her radio as she turned towards Spider-Man. "We will be on our way to the PD. I assume you have the information to Osborn?"

"I do."

"All the best then. Kick his ass." Yuri grinned as she bumped her fist in Spider-Man's chest. "And if you don't get hurt this time, I might give you a reward depending on your performance."

"Well, get ready cause you know I will." Spider-Man replied as he grabbed her by the waist and pulled her close. "Do you want me to escort you as you escort Mrs Connors?"

"Alright guys, this is our cue to leave." Trish said in a teasing manner as she walked out of the house along with the rest of the snickering officers.

"Tempting." Yuri said putting her hands around his neck and resting her head on Spider-Man's chest listening to his steady heartbeat. Sighing in comfort she hesitantly pulled back as she patted his cheek. "But you know I got this."

"I sure hope you do." Spider-Man said as Yuri tip-toped and gave him a peck over his mask.

"Bye, jackass." Yuri winked as she walked away. Spider-Man sighed to himself as he watched her go away.

"Hate that she has to leave, but boy do I love to watch her go." Spider-Man said to himself as Eryl chimed in.

"Peter, you are being perverted."

"Wrong. I'm just being appreciating being alive to see such a sight."

"Yeah." Eryl said not knowing how to respond. "I've pinpointed the location. We should get going."

"Yeah let's do that but let me drop by the Baxter's real quick. I need to make some adjustments." Spider-Man said as he walked out of the house and swung away unaware of the two figures standing on top of another house.

"I don't feel so good about this situation, Reed." Johnny said with a conflicted expression while Reed just looked at the distant figure of Spider-Man with a hostile gaze. "This just feels wrong!"

"Don't think too much about the process. Think about the results. We would be ridding the world of a psychopathic killer like Spider-Man and doing NYPD a big favour by freeing them from his mind control." Reed replied as Johnny just clenched his teeth and shut up.

"This may not be feeling good but this is necessary." Reed said with a cold gaze.

"It's for the greater good."

(A/N: Everybody! A huge round of applause for Reed Richards as we induct him into the hall of fumbling senile fools where he'd be joining the likes of Dumbledore and other legends!)

"Juno, I want you to finish Dr Connors formula while I go deal with the situation." Peter instructed Juno as he walked out of the lab as he was done adjusting his suit. He froze a bit as he came face to face with Susan Storms.

"Good evening, Peter Parker." Susan smiled as she folded her hands.

"Hey, Susan. Sorry I was just about to leave-"

"I wanted to let you know that it was really nice of you to disappear on me." Susan said leaning forward as she poked him with an accusing finger. "It made me feel really appreciated for the meagre breakfast I cooked for you-"

"I'm sorry, alright. Just stop with those jabs." Peter said as he gave her a strained smile. "It hurts me right here in my meow, meow."

"Yeah, you are the only one who can get hurt right?" Susan said as Peter sighed walking past her. "How much do you think it hurt me when I figured out the guy I let into my company, someone who I very much adore betrayed me?"

Peter froze in his steps as his eyes widened. Calming himself down he turned towards Susan with a sheepish smile.

"It was just breakfast, Susan. I'll make it up to you-"

"This isn't about the damn breakfast, Mr Parker." Susan hissed as she stepped in and grabbed Peter by the collar. She looked into his eyes as her emotions began bubbling up. She had a betrayed look in her eyes as her lips quivered. Peter steeled himself as he grabbed her hands. "I... I trusted you!"

"Let go of me." Peter said coldly but Susan didn't let go. Peter gritted his teeth as he overpowered her and pried her hands off his collar. Turning around Peter began to walk away. "I didn't want to hurt any of you."

"You know... I thought Spider-Man smelled nice." Susan said telling him how she figured out his identity. Peter gritted his teeth and just walked out of the lab. Susan wiped her eyes as she looked at the disappearing figure of Peter.

"I really thought you smell nice."

(A/N: She's basically saying she likes him.)

------

"What happens now, Peter?" Eryl asked worried for Peter.

"Working for Baxter's isn't an option anymore. I'll have to change my plans entirely but that will have to wait." Spider-Man said as he wore his mask as the HUD booted up. Spider-Man strapped a slimmer version of his previous gauntlet to his wrist and smiled to himself as it synced with the suit successfully.

Organic webbing solved the problem of him ever running out of webs but he still decided to keep the web-shooters but upgraded them. He now has multiple combinations of different webbings and he was certain it might come in handy in future.

Spider-Man clenched his fist as he looked at the moonlight.

"Alright then, let's put an end to Green Goblin's chapter."
