A year passed by since the cosplay incident and after that, the relationship between Xiao Ling, Xia Qingyue, and Xiao Xianzhi was awkward for a few days, which became normal.

Xia Yuanba was frustrated as he felt his cultivation stagnating, but he had trust in his brother's abilities and when he said that he will find an opportunity later, he believed in it.
Xia Yuanba chose Gauntlets as his weapon, and Xiao Xianzhi taught him the moves he could remember from his past and let him focus on them and make them his muscle memory. After Xiao Xianzhi made Vegito's dress for him, Xiao Yuanba wore this dress every day and practiced it.

On the other hand, Xiao Ling focused on the seals. For the first 2 months, she focused on calligraphy and when she broke through to Nascent Profound Realm after 5 months, she started to seal her Profound Energy to create seals for every basic thing.
When she wanted to walk, she would create seals on her legs and make herself walk automatically.
When she wanted to jump, she would create seals with the intention of jumping, and then keep on jumping until she stopped giving energy. This is to increase her speed of Rune making while getting used to the feeling of using Seals.
Because of her, Xiao Xianzhi could now focus on higher levels of seals, and make her make the seals that he wanted to test.
Not only seals, but Xiao Ling also focused on using a dagger for close-quarter combats as advised by Xiao Xianzhi to make sure she wouldn't be disadvantaged because of seals in the future.
