11 Royal Wizard Apprentice

"Eh?!"

Mike was caught completely off guard with what Dike just offered him since they had only known each other for less than 20 hours. What Mike had no idea was that magic users were usually found in 1 out of 1,000 people from just a single race at a glance, if those numbers were small then those who could use high-level magic through proper training were even fewer resulting in a grab from all major powers of the world for magic users. Plus to Dike, it looked like Mike had learned a spell just by glancing at it from the book. That was completely unheard of in the history of this world and Dike wanted to use the opportunity to bring Mike into the royal magic school to train him properly. Mike meanwhile had no clue that he could be considered as a genius among geniuses if people found out of his gift, it would be safe to say that wars would be fought just to get him on their side with his talents at magic.

The reason for this was that magic needed a few things to work. One was an aptitude of magic, of course, that would allow someone to cast spells through having a generic aptitude of magic or having a large amount of mana that they could use. The second part requires an understanding of the various hand gestures, mediums (objects that are used to help with magic casting I.E. Wands, staffs, etc), and finally the basic understanding of the mystic language. However, with the help of the system, Mike can bypass the requirements of casting the spells he learns as the system sets up the spell and Mike would only have to give the mana needed to cast said spell. So Mike would need no medium, no ancient language 101 class to be taken or anything else, all he would have to do is supply the mana.

Still, Mike was in a tricky situation right now as he had no idea how to answer Dike's proposal of becoming an apprentice wizard. There could be nothing but benefits that Mike could reap if he accepted as well as problems that could come with joining. Joining would allow Mike to get access to a bunch of information, spells, a stable income (Hopefully), and a place to sleep. The only problem would be the fact that he would probably be targeted for becoming an apprentice easily amongst his peers and probably have to deal with the politics of the royal court and other powers in the land. Still thinking about it Mike knew that the benefits outweighed the bad so all Mike can say is "Yes"

Dike was thrilled at this answer 'I got a genius as my first apprentice because of this his royal highness will rank me up! Wait how do I train an apprentice...'

Now Dike was stuck with an apprentice that he had no idea how to train as it had been a very long time since he was trained by a master. So he had no idea where, to begin with, any type of training for Mike or how to help him progress. So the best way to solve this problem would be to have him be baptized by the flames of war and have him take part in the reason he was here in the first place.

"So Michael your first mission is to-"

...

After a few minutes of talking Mike soon gives Dike an excuse to head upstairs into his room. After Mike enters the same room from a few days ago he sits on the bed after closing and locking the door. Finally, alone Mike had a lot of questions that could only be answered by the system and he had very little alone time so this was the perfect chance to ask some questions floating in his head.

"System what are favorability points?"

'Favorability points are accumulated by doing quests for people or organizations. The accumulated points can passively provide benefits such as discounts or special access to a variety of things. However, favorability points can be used to receive favors, items, materials, skills, knowledge, and other such things that they have access to which can be used instead of currency'

"Can I get rid of the system?"

'The answer at this time is no'

Seeing the answer that was given Mike could not help but feel relieved that there was a way to get his life back to normal.

"System where am I?"

'Location is the town of Riverdale'

"That is not what I meant..."

Mike racks his brain for some questions to ask before once again asking to see if there is a way that he can get some more information out of the system.

"How can I get rid of the system?"

'Unable to answer'

"Then who made this system?"

'Unable to answer'

"Why are you unable to tell me?"

'Unable to answer'

"You are starting to piss me off a bit, tell me something useful then that I can use at least"

'If the user wishes to receive answers they must get stronger'

"Again, WHY!?"

'Unable to answer'

A few veins on Mike's head pop out showing his rage at this stupid system of his that is not explaining anything to him at all. It was driving him crazy that the only way to receive something from the system was through the damned screens which was driving him a bit crazy. Having a conversation was a lot better for him to have than just what he felt were singular responses towards him with no sort of explanation to anything.

'The user has not used any 'system points' to unlock new parts of the system as mentioned in the 'Tech Tree''

Slightly startled at this Mike as he was not expecting the system to be able to read his mind and the realization of the fact the system could be improved upon.

"System open the tech tree"

At Mike's command, a holographic screen appears in his vision. The screen showed a single Branching off of the already unlocked slot there were five other grayed-out tech tree items branched out from the glowing one in the middle. For each one, it seemed that they cost one point to initiate the upgrade and Mike could see he only had one point to use. Mike looks at the upgrades that he could purchase which branching off the original starting point included System generated assistant, Upgraded storage, Backup energy storage for the system, increased processing speed, improving the information of creatures on the planet through the information sheet

"Hey System how do I acquire these system points?" Mike asks out of curiosity

'The user can gain system points by completing more difficult quests, the harder the quest the more points will be gained' Was the reply

"I would like to purchase the AI assistant module"

'Ding'

...

AI assistant module has been purchased. Would you like to turn it on?

Yes/No

...

'No, I only bought the stupid thing to flaunt my money like a rich kid. Of course, I want it on!' Mike retorts in his mind before simply stating "Yes"

...

Please input the required preferences and parameters of the assistant for the user

Voice: Male/Female

Emotions: Select

Personal requests: None

...

'Hm, this is important' Mike strokes his chin as he thinks of what to input. After a bit, Mike finally inputs what he wants and what would be helpful in this situation.

...

Please input preferences and parameters of the assistant

Voice: Female

Emotions: Supportive, Encouraging, Kind, Helpful, Energetic, and Funny

Personal requests: A bit sarcastic at times, likes to be praised, and is willing to help Mike out through her means

...

Feeling satisfied with what was inputted, Mike presses completed at the bottom of the screen and another 'Ding' resounds.

...

The inputs of the user are currently being looked over and will take 24 hours until fully equipped into the system.

Mike leans back to relax for a bit before realizing that he has not spun the wheel recently. Mike hurriedly pulls up the wheel as once more it fills up his vision this time next to the 'SPIN' button there was a spins remaining counter which showed up with the number 2 next to it.

"Does the wheel keep the number of days missed as extra spins?" Mike asks the system

A big bright 'Yes' appears next to the wheel in gold lettering

'The user will only be able to store up to 7 days of spins, and if they reach the 7-day mark they can do one spin with a higher chance of higher tier items' as a result after. Mike was not complaining about the limit for the spins as the more chances he had in a row the better and higher equipment is always good, but he just wanted to know how high does the chance increase for better stuff from the wheel. Still, Mike does not want to save up now so he hits the spin button and it starts to spin just like before. A minute later it finally stops on a weapon icon with another spin for a type of weapon, Mike quickly pulls up his inventory once done and sees that he got what the system classified as a common-grade short sword.

...

Shortsword

Grade: Common

Damage: 5-11 damage

Effects: 5% of causing bleeding which causes 2 damage per 30 seconds until the wound is closed

You now have a sword but are you sure you can use it?

...

Mike was not all that disappointed at this since he still had another spin of the wheel remaining. Hitting the spin button once more it goes round and round obedient before the wheel comes to a stop and lands on the image of three claw marks. Confused Mike checks his inventory but does not see anything new inside it.

Closing his inventory Mike sees that the wheel changed into a slot machine that only had one section on it. On the section (Sorry I do not know the proper terminology of slot machines since I don't gamble, so bear with me) the word 'Common' was currently imprinted on the slot machine that Mike could see Looking above the slot machine the word animal companion floated above the machine giving some clarity as to what Mike was about to receive. Now that he was seeing what he was going to get he did not think too much of it before grabbing the handle on the side of the slot machine and pulling down on it and letting go. The machine activates and started spinning.

As for Mike he took the time to ask the system the rankings of what he could get with The ranking as follows: Common, Rare, Very Rare, Heroic, Legendary, Heavenly, and Godly. Each of them was self-explanatory as to which one was better but it was difficult to find out what the animals were since the system was not telling him anything specific and this was Mike's first time doing this. After a few seconds of waiting and the slot machine was gradually slowing down. Then exactly after one minute, the machine stops at with legendary.

The user has gained a legendary animal egg and has been placed in their inventory

...

Seeing that he got a legendary pet Mike excitedly pulls up his inventory to see right next to his new sword was an egg. Mike decides to take it out of his inventory to inspect it further if possible. Once the egg appears in his hands, Mike immediately thinks 'My God what is this thing!'

The egg was at least 30lbs right from the get-go it was bright red, pink, and yellow striped from top to bottom, it was the size of Mike's torso and he could barely hold onto it with its weird shape and an unnatural heat that the egg gave off that caused the room to feel a little more humid. Quickly and safely placing it on the ground Mike looks at the description of the egg only to have his jaw drop to the ground.
