I heard a loud knock on the door, if it was any fainter I probably wouldn't have heard it not with the way I enfolded in the blanket. I stiffen immediately, the supposed they were at the door. The house became deathly silent at the knock and it wasn't until I heard the door open that I realized I had been holding my breath.
"What are you doing here Alaric?" From the sound of her voice, I could tell she wasn't pleased. I smirked at my thin walls who would have thought it would come in handy.
"Princess!" The voice sounded genuinely surprised to see her.
"Cut the act Alaric, you knew I would be here. Why else would you set out with almost an army with you?"
"This can hardly be called an army and there is no doubt that we are no match for you my Princess.'
"Don't beat around the bush. Why are you here?"
"The Sage requests that you come home."
"You're kidding. Home?" She laughed before adding' "So where exactly is this home he speaks of?"
"The castle!" The voice said matter-of-factly.
"Alaric I haven't lived in the Castle since I was a little girl. The Sage ordering it now doesn't mean a thing to me."
"Princess you seem to have forgotten the Sage's words are absolute."
"And you forget your place Alaric! Now would that be all?"
"Yes!"
There was a slight pause before the Vampire Princess asked, "How is he?" At the thought of vampires, I couldn't help but think that the they were vampires. A chill coursed through my body.
"The Sage?"
"Alaric!" She called out a little sternly. "Do you think I care about the Sage's well-being?"
"I am sorry Princess Callidora but the Sage has forbidden us from giving out any information that had to do with Prince Ciro."
Callidora! Is that her real name?
"You're dismissed," she replied followed by a loud bang and the house shook from the shock of the door closing. I gasped in fear. Thankfully it wasn't loud enough but covered with these thick materials I doubted any sound could make it through.
Who was Alaric? Who was Prince Ciro? And whole the hell did they keep calling the Sage? These were just a few of the questions I wanted answers to and I bugged me a lot that my parents were being extra secretive. Why did they think I couldn't handle the truth? At this point, I was feeling more hurt than angry.
I heard my room door push to forceful could have sworn that it had ripped off its hinges. No footsteps and I heard my closet door open that was when I realized I have never heard the vampire's footsteps before.
"Get up!" She barked.
I snapped, I did exactly as she asked without questions and she comes in and yells at me. Who the heck does she think she is? Vampire Princess or whatever I didn't give two f's. "Would it kill you to be nicer?" I glared at her after all the thick materials had been taken off me.
"Take whatever you can't buy. We are leaving."
It took a while for her words to reach my brain. I heard them alright but I had a hard time interpreting them. "What?" I asked and the materials on my hand fell with a silent thud.
"I don't think I need to repeat myself." She stood with her side against the wall of my room and even with my anger I couldn't help but think she looked gracious as hell. Wearing all black she looked like some sexy ninja.
I rushed out of the closet and every step I took hit the floor with more force than was necessary. Stopping directly in front of her slouched form, I raised my hand and pointed at her. I was angry, manners were the least of my worries.
"You don't tell me what to do! Just because I stayed in the closet for you doesn't mean I'm about to listen to your crazy idea of leaving. Are you freaking nuts? Why the hell would I leave? You should leave, you're the reason all this crazy stuff has been happening…" I was going to say more, I would have said more if what happened next hadn't happened.
I was vigorously moving my finger telling her what I thought when she grabbed by my arm and lifted me up. I am sure my eyes popped out of their socket, I was at least four feet off the ground. I looked at the Evil Vampire Princess- I just kept adding whatever adjectives I thought was proper -and she smirked. I really hated it when she did that but right now it wasn't hate that I felt, it was fear.
Just one look on her face and I knew she wasn't messing with me but was absolutely serious. I wanted to beg with my eyes but my pride wouldn't let me, I didn't care who she was or how strong she was. I was determined to have my way. I hardened my face as much as I could and glared at her. It had no effect on her instead her smirk grew even wider.
She flipped her hand and my leg went up making me flat in the air and brought her hand down as if to hit me against the floor. I couldn't help it, as badly as I wanted to seem strong and unaffected. The thought of my body hitting the ground with that kind of force broke through and I screamed. My eyes were tightly closed as I braced for the impact.
Her hand stilled and I landed with my feet. There was no pain whatsoever, I opened my eyes to find her grinning at me. My first thought was creepy. "So, we can either do this the easy way or the hard way." The look on her face said she wouldn't hesitate to hit me if she had to.
Before I had time to respond, my parents burst through the door of my bedroom and found the Evil Vampire Princess (EVP) gripping my arm. My mum was the one who reacted first. "What are you doing to her?" She yelled and pulled me out of the Evil Vampire Princess hold. There was no resistance and I was released.
I hugged my mum as tears popped out the side of my eyes. "She's a child for chrissake." My mum continued. "I know you want her to do as you say but this isn't the way to go about it." I was slightly shocked this was the first time since EVP moved into the house that I have seen my mum address her directly.
My dad came closer and rubbed my head, I felt my throat rumble in satisfaction. "Fear won't give you what you want and neither would manhandling. Let us handle this." His voice was soft as he spoke and I didn't want him to stop rubbing my head. EVP left the room without a backward glance.
