38 A Share of Secret

"After that, I saw Elihim, who dropped on the ground, stood up."

"..."

"He stared at the one who dropped him. That man then fell on his back. At that time, I felt their body heat rose. Not warm... but hot! I looked at Elihim again and this sharp blade just appeared out of nowhere. Elihim grabbed it and stabbed in on that man!"

"Wait, out of nowhere? You sure you're not seeing things? You're in a stressful situation after all."

"Then are you saying that when I saw their arms bent, I'm seeing things too? My husband can testify on this if you want."

"No... continue."

"... sorry, after that, I'm too scared to look. But I believed that when other men tackled Elihim. He felt down and when they were about to escape, I looked again, my son's arm and eyes just popped!" Lyssa's face showed a horrified expression that Merim couldn't deny what she was saying, "At the same time, the escaping men's legs bent!"

"The... the other way?" Merim asked.

Lyssa nodded again with a paled, yet, darkened face.

"I looked away again, of course. The next scene I saw was when my son, Elihim, climbed upstairs as if he did not lose an arm and eye. I glanced then saw that seven men lying on the ground there." she pointed before the front door.

"But after that, he turned around and covered his right ear. I couldn't forget that moment. It is true, I'm a bit scared because of what happened. But is that the reason why he went away?"

"Wait," Merim stopped her, "Why did he cover his right ear first?"

When Lyssa was about to cry, she answered, "I don't know. But blood spurted between his fingers. I think what happened to his arm and eye, happened to one of his ears too. That was when I felt incredible energy filling me up! Meanwhile, Heron's wounds were slowly disappearing. As Elihim walk out, there was some kind of mysterious force again that dragged the seven dead men and followed him up. I and Heron were shocked but after a while, he went out to look for our son but Elihim is already gone!"

Lyssa was about to burst into tears but calmed herself with deep breaths.

"I... I see." Merim thought hard about it.

There was a period of silence before he asked.

"Does Heron's family has a strange history?" he asked because he knew that Lyssa's side of family is clean.

"Strange history?"

"You see, Mrs. Enova, there are some children whose body is offered to the devil by their ancestor-"

"No! Heron's family is not something like that!" Lyssa then realized that they have yet to tell Merim about the fact that Elihim is just their adopted child.

"Wait, Sir Merim. I don't know if I should tell you this so I'll speak with my husband first."

"What? Are you still hiding something?" Merim couldn't believe how deep this goes.

"Umm... excuse me."

Lyssa then ran up to the room while wiping her tears.

"Should we tell him?"

"About what?" Heron raised an eyebrow.

Lyssa glanced at Ellie so she whispered. Until now they are still hiding the fact that Elihim is adopted. They feared that if any of the siblings learned about this, their relationship may break.

"About Elihim's adoption."

Hearing this, Heron sweated. After pondering, Heron sighed and nodded.

"I hope he can forgive me. It was already seven years ago anyway."

"Okay"

So Lyssa went down to tell Merim.

"So about that, actually, Elihim is adopted. Seven years ago, you defeated the beast king, Heron scouted the beast's territory to find Elihim there."

"Wait wait wait! Slow down. Seven years ago? Beast king?" Merim tried to recall and remembered when he was hired by the hunters when this town was still a village.

Furthermore, he also remembered why he was there.

'I was sent there to find about the strange meteor my senior saw that day! Don't tell me...' he looked at Lyssa and said, "Continue"

"Umm... so I was saying, Heron only found Elihim in the middle of the forest. Thinking that Elihim is a special child, he decided to bring him home."

"..."

Merim was speechless.

'No... no... it must be a coincidence.'

"Is that all?" his face turned solemn.

"Y-yes... I already told you everything. But I hope Sir Merim can keep it as a secret."

Merim's face twitched. Before they talked, he promised to keep what he was about to learn a secret. He really wanted to tell this to his superior but...

'It must be a coincidence and it's already seven years ago.'

"Yes, I am not a man without honor. I will keep this secret to me unless you give me permission."

'That sounds like a threat...' Lyssa bitterly smiled.

"If that's all. I thank you for being truthful to me... if that was the truth. However, if I learn that it is not or that you are still hiding something from me regarding this topic, all promises will be void and you couple will regret it."

Lyssa nodded, "Okay, Sir Merim. I'm confident that I only spoke the truth. Wait, actually, I haven't told you about yesterday."

"Uh... there's more?"

After saying it briefly, Merim finally got the gist and stood up.

"So that's why you are cheerful earlier. And in short, that mysterious kid may be hiding around here?"

"Mysterious? Umm... we aren't sure but there is a possibility."

"I am an Earth Imagi. As long as he is standing on the ground, I will be able to find him."

Lyssa heard this and felt grateful, "Thank you, Sir Merim. If you can, please tell him to come home and that we miss him?"

Merim turned around and nodded.

"Fine, a little courtesy to you for telling me the truth if I do see him."

When Merim came out of the house, a pigeon watched over him from the rooftop.

Inside the cave, Elihim spoke to himself.

"Should I let him meet me?... Fine, let's see if he can be trusted or he needs to die."
