12 Measurements

Kathy was immediately ecstatic. Getting rid of that armour that had been stuck in inventory for two years was definitely thrilling. Kathy knew that all she had to do was get the most out of it. She knew that Renard wanted the armour but had already promised him a reduction in price. Her eyes were shining with promise towards Renard.

Thankfully for Kathy, he hadn't noticed anything due to him being in his own inebriated state. The amazement he felt was due to how powerful the systems effect was. Renard couldn't believe it, it completely removed the de-buffs that were on the armour. Overpowered.

Renard's foggy thoughts came back to him as he remembered where he was. It only took a moment for him to smoothly continue the conversations with Kathy. "As I just said, I would like to purchase this set if you wouldn't mind. All I need is for it to be reshaped so it fits."

Renard's cheeks suddenly had a faint pink hue appear on them. He had just realised that he would need to have his measurements taken to make the armour fit.

Before Renard could start to fantasize Kathy chirped, "Of course, if you just follow me I will take your measurements." Kathy walked round the counter and started walking towards a curtain that covered a door frame. As Renard walked towards the curtain he felt as if bugs with hot legs were crawling all over his body.

"If you just step in there for a moment, I will warn you before I start taking your measurements. You seem a little nervous, it must be your first time. Don't worry too much, as long as you stand still and let it just happen nothing will go wrong. It's not like it's an unpleasant experience after all."

Kathy shot off round through a door to the side of the curtain, she prompted Renard to enter the curtain again as she left. Renard felt a little confused as how Kathy was to take measurements through the wall. He soon thought of a answer for himself. Renard believed that there must be another entrance, Kathy must had gone off to get some measuring tools.

Renard reined his mind in as he headed in through the curtain. 'I must not let myself get carried away like this, my rise to power must not have any blemishes in it's history. Public opinion is everything.'

Renard's movements paused for a moment as a sinister thought drifted into his mind. 'I could just become evil, I could do what ever I want then, hehe.'

'Pssh, who am I kidding, if I want to become powerful I need as little issues in my way as possible. If I just decide to become evil I'm going to end up provoking someone powerful and be destroyed. Even with my system I don't have the confidence in it to overcome obstacles of that manner.'

'Maybe when I am stronger than most people I can give it a go.' A glint flashed in Renard's eyes and the corner of his lips raised slightly.

Renard parted the curtain and stepped into the room. When he was inside the room was only about a metre in each direction. The most peculiar thing however, was the lack of a door. 'How is Kathy going to get in, surely she doesn't have to come back round through the curtain, that is just bad design.' Renard harrumphed.

Renard neglected to notice the gems in each corner of the room. They looked inert and dull, they almost blended in with the darkness.

"Get ready!" Kathy's voice came from above.

As Renard looked up there was a dome placed in the ceiling. It was made of a glass like material and transparent. Renard could see Kathy sitting at the lip pouring a glowing liquid into the dome. At the moment the liquid hit the dome it went straight through, splitting into eight beams that flowed into each of the crystals in the corners.

A strong flash came from all of the crystals at the same time for a brief moment.

As Renard read the report the system gave him the liquid left the crystals and floated back up to the dome. Once the liquid settled in the bottom of the dome, Kathy placed a cloth in the liquid. Renard couldn't see exactly what was going on but he did see writing appear on the cloth which Kathy quickly transferred to a wooden slab beside her.

Kathy then took the cloth and held it over a bowl to her side, the cloth swiftly disintegrated and the liquid fell into the bowl. Once this happened a look of relief appeared on Kathy's face and she spoke to Renard. "You can head back to the counter now. I will be down with you in a moment."

Renard was stunned. Although he had seen the system before, which he considered magical, it really didn't compare to something truly magical. This was the first time that Renard saw the possibilities that were available in this new world. Eagerness welled up inside him. He couldn't wait to complete the quest for the Lord of this town and get a cultivation technique.

Renard walked out of the curtain and headed back to the front desk. It didn't take long for Kathy to reappear. Renard was alerted to her presence by the chirp of her voice from behind him. "You sure seemed excited to have your measurements taken. It must be your first time seeing a elemental powered equipment, it really is great."

"However, if you think that machine is amazing you should see some of the equipment that is made with spiritual energy. Those cultivators sure do know how to make amazing stuff, the only downside is how expensive it is. You basically have to be a cultivator to afford it. Unfortunately, that all comes down to talent at the end of the day and you aren't likely to find that in a place like Littlefeather."

"Anyway, from your measurements I've worked out the price. It should cost you 1 Gold and 2 Silver in total. I the price seems quite high in comparison to other sets of leather armour but you have to remember that it is elemental infused leather." Kathy summed up her ranting with that statement.

Renard accidentally blurted out his thoughts. "Wow, that is cheaper than my room."
