14 Revelations

"Nabu…" I just let out a dry sigh. "What the fuck… Why did Jessica put on your helmet!?"

"She was holding the helmet of fate, and I sensed she was in danger. So I sent out a minor compulsion through it to make her put it on!" The female Doctor Fate in front of me declared proudly. Not a hint of shame at all.

Emmett and Carlisle picked themselves up off the ground where Jasper and Edward had sucker-punched both of them.

"Who knew little Eddie could pack such a punch," Emmett said while rubbing his cracked jaw. He didn't sound particularly upset; in fact, he seemed more happy about it, to be honest. Carlisle just turned and looked at the destruction of his home before he let out a resigned sigh.

"It sounds like Edward ran off," Rosalie said as I listened in and heard rapid footsteps growing more distant. At least he was able to regain control of himself fairly quickly.

"I'm going to go and check on Jasper," Alice said before she turned towards me with a pout. "Did you have to hit him so hard, Kara!? You literally sent him blasting off like Team Rocket!" She chastised me before she took off and had it in the direction her husband went sailing. I felt a little bad about that, I supposed I didn't have to hit him that hard… Putting someone through an actual wall was pretty epic though.

"We're going to go and see if we can pick up Edward's trail before he gets too far," Carlisle said as he and Emmett also headed out of the house.

The departure of the others left behind a somewhat awkward silence, which was interrupted by a fit of laughter from the last person I had expected.

"Pffff… hahaha!" Bella, who I thought should be the most freaked out, was the one who had started laughing. "Alice is referencing Pokemon, Jessica is Doctor Fate for some reason, and Supergirl literally sent a vampire flying with an anime style punch. Hahaha, I have no idea what is even going on anymore…"

Honestly, that makes two of us…

...

The group dinner was pretty much over at that point. Thankfully, once the situation had calmed down, we were able to get the helmet off of Jessica and calm her down… a bit. She was somewhat still freaked out at losing complete control of her body to basically an alien god. For their own safety, in case Edward came back, the three human girls had left the Cullen house a few moments later.

Obviously, Jessica had many questions for pretty much everyone, especially me, considering I was Supergirl, and Angela apparently knew, leaving Jessica feeling left out. It's not my fault she's known as the gossip queen of Forks, and no one trusts her to keep a secret.

...

"Sooooo," I said awkwardly to everyone at the table. There weren't a lot of people. Just Esme, Rosalie, and myself. "This chicken is really good, Esme. And I know you helped too, Rosalie, so thank you…" I trailed off at the silence in the dining room.

"Thank you, dear…" Esme said with a strained smile. She was probably a bit upset that the front of her house was wrecked and her son ran off to who knows where. Well, hopefully, he ran to visit the Denali clan, but honestly, with how messed up the timeline was, he could be in Mexico slumming it with the chupacabras… Now that I think about it, I wonder if there's another vegetarian vampire clan in Mexico that's the true source of that myth?

"..."

Rosalie turned towards me with an irritated expression. "So now our secret is exposed to Jessica of all people!" Rosalie said bitterly.

"Hey, that wasn't on me!" I replied, defending myself. "Edward and Jasper were the ones who lost their shit."

"Language," Esme whispered almost instinctively at this point. I apologized.

"I guess you're right," Rosalie replied. "I still have no idea what the hell set them off. They're around students all day long in school, and I've never seen Edward react like that. I always figured he had the best control, right after Carlisle…" She said and I guess she had not heard about blood singers at this point. As soon as I saw Bella in their home, I should have grabbed her and made a quick escape, but I didn't voice that thought. Besides, even if I had taken her away, there's a good chance Edward would have picked up her scent in his home and immediately tracked us down anyway.

"I'm sure you guys will be able to figure that out once he contacts you from wherever he ran off to," I explained to her calmly. "What you should be stressing out about, however, is having to explain yourself to Jessica and Bella tomorrow at school…" I trailed off jokingly.

"Explain myself!?" Rosalie asked, "You're the one who just exposed yourself as Supergirl, so I'm sure you'll have plenty of fun explaining yourself." The blonde vampire snarked back at me. I just gave her a cheeky smile in return.

"Nope," I said. "I'm planning on skipping school tomorrow… and maybe the next day." At least I had a good excuse that there was a superpowered, possibly evil robot on the loose. Rosalie just huffed at me in clear jealousy. They couldn't afford to also be skipping school on the non-sunny days otherwise they'd start looking even more suspicious.

"You shouldn't go skipping school," Esme said with a small frown. "Your education is important, after all."

"I hate to break it to you, Mom," Rosalie cut in, "but Forks High School isn't exactly the gold standard in education." I nodded along with her comment. It certainly was not the peak of high school education. I'm pretty sure they didn't offer any AP classes at all in fact.

"Yeah, we were too poor to afford rats, so they had to dissect tomatoes instead…and that's how I met Edward!" I giggled as I explained to Esme, who just gave me a pout in return. I did see a small smile return to her face though as she was remembering happier times.

The rest of the meal, well, at least for me, was filled with small talk and Rosalie and I trying to cheer Esme up, assuring her that Edward was likely okay. After I finished eating, I picked up Nabu's helmet and decided it was time to head home for the night. The vampires would likely be awake the rest of the night, dealing with all the damage that had occurred. I'm sure by the morning their house would be completely repaired.

—-----------------------

The next morning, I made the decision to skip school for the day as I had some superhero matters to attend to. At the top of my agenda was finding information about TO Marrow, the supposed creator of Red Tornado in the comics.

*Knock Knock.*

Someone was at my front door. I used my X-ray vision to see that it was Bella Swan. Apparently, she couldn't wait even a day to confront the supernatural.

I went to the door and opened it. "Hello, Bella?" I said. "What brings you here, and shouldn't you be at school?" She seemed a bit nervous and eager to come in, so I stepped aside to let her.

"I could say the same to you, you know. Why aren't you at school?" Bella replied as she stepped into my home. Despite her nervousness, she added a touch of sass, which I found intriguing. This was a different side of Bella, and I liked that she had some backbone.

"Touche, I suppose. So, what brings you here?"

Bella turned and looked at me with determination. "I know you're Supergirl!" She blurted out.

Yeah, I know... I mean, I did just punch a vampire through a house right in front of her. So Bella knowing I was Supergirl wasn't exactly a surprise anymore...

Bella must have noticed my deadpan stare because she blushed. "I meant to say that differently. What I meant is that I know you're a superhero, and I want to be one too!" Bella declared. Following her declaration she looked at me with some trepidation, clearly waiting for a response of some kind. I'm not really sure what she was expecting from me.

"Ok..." I trailed off. "So be one," I said bluntly. Did she think she needed permission or something from me?

Clearly, by the dumbfounded expression on her face, she thought she did. "Just be one?" She questioned out loud.

"Yeah, you clearly have some kind of force-field superpower, and it was strong enough to repel a rampant vampire. All you really need after that is a bulletproof costume, and you're pretty much set. I'm not your dad; I'm not gonna stop you from being a hero if you want to be," I explained to the girl.

She continued to give me a dumbfounded expression. I heard her muttering to herself. "Huh? I thought she'd try to talk me out of it, and then we'd compromise on me becoming her sidekick or something." She shuffled her feet a bit.

Now I was confused. Did this girl want to be my sidekick? I wasn't really a sidekick-having kind of hero though…

"The sidekick days are pretty much over once you hit 18, Bella, and that's coming up soon for you, isn't it?" I asked her, to which she said yes. "Alright then, listen Bella—"

BEEP BEEP

I was cut off by the sound of my phone beeping, signaling that I just received a text message. I checked my phone for a second, and it was a message from The Flash telling me to call him when I was free.

"As I was saying, Bella," I continued, "I'm not going to talk you out of being a hero if that's what you really want, but I'm also not going to glorify it for you. When we fought those aliens, Rosalie literally had her head ripped off by Zod." I said, and she had a shocked expression on her face when hearing that.

"Rosalie?" Bella questioned, "Why would she have been there... wait!? Rosalie is Rose Knight!?" Bella asked in surprise. She then had a look of realization on her face.

Oh... did she not know that? My bad. Rosalie, I pretty much just outed your identity to another person. I apologized to the vampire in my head and made a vow to make it up to her later.

"Yes, Rosalie is Rose Knight," I confirmed. "And like I was saying, being a hero can be extremely dangerous. That's why I think before you really commit to it, maybe you should go on a trial run a couple of times to see if it's what you really want. When you're up close and personal fighting against criminals, it's a whole different experience than just fantasizing about it or watching it romanticized on TV." I explained to the girl seriously. Even I had almost died when Zod's ship came crashing down... the only reason he and those three other Kryptonians survived was that they were wearing those tough Warsuits. Even then a few of them didn't make it out…

Bella told me she understood where I was coming from. I suggested that she should have Alice make her a superhero suit for added protection when she couldn't create a force-field shield in time. Once she had that, I offered to take her on a few patrols with me and show her the ropes to see if she truly wanted to pursue this path in life. After our conversation, Bella left and said she would get in touch with Alice.

After she left, I decided to ring up Flash and see what he found out about our guy.

RING RING RING

"Hello?" I heard the voice of Barry Allen, AKA The Flash, answer the other end of the phone.

"Hey Flash, it's Supergirl," I said as I held the phone up to my ear.

"Oh, hey Supergirl. I've been waiting for your call, and I'm afraid I found diddly-squat on your suspect." Flash said to my disappointment.

"Dang that sucks…"

He continued. "Yeah, that T.O. Marrow guy… The man is a freaking ghost in the machine. And by that, I mean the political machine. Apparently, he was some bigwig government scientist who worked on some sketchy projects back in the 70's, and that's the last anyone ever heard of the guy. After that, he just straight up vanished off the face of the planet, at least as far as the internet and the police databases have to go by," Flash explained to me over the line.

I had asked him to find information about the creator of Red Tornado since he had better resources than me at the moment. T.O. Marrow seemed to have disappeared from the world in the '70s, before the internet existed, so I knew I had to resort to old-school methods to uncover any leads on him.

"Thanks for the help, Flash, and thanks for getting that information so quickly."

"No problem, Supergirl. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful. The guy is a genuine ghost. Though knowing you, I'm sure you'll find another lead. Good luck," he replied before hanging up the line.

That lead didn't pan out, but I wasn't out of luck just yet. I knew someone else who literally dealt in information for a living, after all.

With that, I slipped my phone into my costume's waistband as I took off into the air to see if I could track down another lead in Metropolis. I was heading towards the Daily Planet building; the newspaper had been around for decades, and I knew like any other paper, it would keep records of every single copy ever printed. Hopefully, someone had taken the time to digitally archive them all…

When I arrived above the building, I used my X-ray vision to search it, hoping the person I was looking for was in today. Luckily for me, she was. I flew down a few floors to what I assumed was her private office. Nonchalantly, I just knocked on the glass window behind where she was sitting, causing her to jump up in surprise.

The woman turned around and looked at me a bit gobsmacked before giving me a small glare as she walked over and unlatched the window, opening it up for me to fly in.

"Hi there, Lena," I said. "It's nice to see you again," giving her a smile. Was it kind of strange that I just showed up unannounced? We were supposed to be sort-of-friends at this point so I figured it should have been fine.

Lena just proceeded to stare at me for a moment, probably wondering why I had just entered her office via the window. After a few seconds, however, her pondering look turned into one that I would classify as more mischievous. "Hello Supergirl," Lena said sultrily as she walked up to me. "Couldn't quite get enough of me, I see~" She leaned in close to me and placed her arm on my shoulder as she whispered that last part into my ear. I could immediately feel the flush rise to my cheeks at such a blatant come-on from such a beautiful woman.

"W-well, I a-actually…" I trailed off as I embarrassingly found myself stuttering.

"Hahaha, to think I could get the woman of steel herself to blush so easily." Lena smirked at herself proudly. "Relax, Supergirl, I was only joking." She laughed as she spun around and sashayed back to her desk before plopping herself down in her luxury office chair.

"Um…yeah. I knew that…totally." I squeaked out, but her raised eyebrow told me that she did not believe me. She totally caught me off guard there… I think that's the first time I've actually been flirted with in this new life, not counting Angela's short schoolyard crush.

Lena just gave me a wink before she started speaking again. "All right, I'm sure you're not here just for my lovely company. What do you need of me, Supergirl?" Lena said, shifting quickly from her flirty demeanor to her business persona.

"I'm sure you heard about the crazy tornadoes that were springing up randomly in New Mexico the other day, right?" I asked her.

"I did hear about that," Lena replied to me. "I also saw the mediocre cell phone video of you and Flash somehow stopping an F5 tornado by going around it fast in the opposite direction. It's a shame that the guy who filmed you two uploaded the video to YouTube for free so quickly. Daily Planet news would have paid him thousands of dollars for that exclusive footage."

I continued and explained what the video didn't show since the guy stopped recording right after the tornado was handled. I mentioned that the tornado was caused by a robot, and I suspected it was built by the old scientist, T.O. Marrow. I asked if she could have someone check the archives to see if they could find any information about the man, hoping it would lead me to a new lead.

Linda just put her finger on her chin before pondering for a moment. "T.O. Marrow? I feel like I've read about him sometime in the past but I just can't recall. And you say this man was some kind of high-profile government scientist back in the 70's?" She asked, and I told her yes. "Hmmmm, well, luckily for you, one of the first things I did when taking over this place," she gestured to the Daily Planet building with her arms, "was that I had everything converted from paper to digital. Some poor intern had the unfortunate job of scanning decades worth of newspapers in the store room and uploading them to our private servers."

I was relieved to hear that. Even with super speed, checking through decades worth of dusty newspapers would not have been a fun experience.

"Anyway," Lena said, "I'll have someone check over our archives, searching some keywords to see if we can find anything about your missing scientist." Lena thankfully assured me.

BEEP

"Excuse me, Miss Luther," from the intercom on her desk, the voice of Lena's secretary came through, "your… um… your brother is here to see you." The secretary finished saying, and I could see Lena's face take on a complex look before she let out a sigh.

I didn't feel like it was my place, but I was too curious about the infamous Lex Luthor not to ask anything. "So you and Lex, huh? Is there some kind of drama going on between the two of you?" I asked her.

"It's not that," Lena waved me off. "It's more playful, if anything. When our father passed away, he had to split the stocks of Luther Corp between the two of us. He could have split it evenly, but instead, he gave me 26% and he only gave Lex 25% of the company. My older brother has been basically pouting about that extra 1% for the past couple of months, and that I am technically the majority shareholder. Even though it's really him who runs LexCorp while I simply enjoy running the Daily Planet News Network more." She finished explaining to me right as the doors to her office opened.

"Lena, there you are!" A man in his late 20s, very recognizable, entered the office with a cheerful demeanor. I observed him as he walked in, noticing his striking features, similar to his sister, and the same brown eyes. However, unlike Lena's long brown hair, his head was completely shaved.

"Oh," he paused upon seeing me, "I wasn't aware you had a guest, especially one who is so high profile..." He said as he gave me a once-over. I could tell he wasn't checking me out, but more like he was appraising the situation he found himself in.

Lena stood up from her desk and walked over to Lex to give him a hug. "It's nice to see you too, Lex. Maybe next time, call ahead though."

Lex just playfully waved her off before he walked towards me and held out his hand to shake. I reciprocated and grabbed hold of his hand. When I did, however, I immediately felt sick and weakened. I almost stumbled for a second, but I managed to stop myself from making a scene.

This man had kryptonite on him for some reason!

"Is there something wrong, Supergirl," Lena said, as she probably saw my strange flinch upon taking her brother's hand. Thankfully, Lex released the handshake and took a few steps back from me before I physically started dry heaving…

I was pretty proud of myself for what I thought were my non-existent acting skills up until this point, as even though I was still feeling sick, I was able to play it off. "It's nice to meet you too, Mr. Luther, and I don't really want to alarm you, but you wouldn't happen to be carrying a glowing green rock on you, would you?" I asked while masking my concern.

"A glowing green rock?" Lena asked with a hint of confusion in her voice before her eyes widened. "OH! Are you talking about our father's pendant?"

"Your father's pendant?" I asked.

Lex reached beneath his shirt and pulled out a necklace with the pendant made of solid Kryptonite. "This was our father's lucky pendant. He apparently carved it out of a meteor that landed in Smallville outside one of his plants a few years before he died," Lex explained as he showed it to me. "Why? Is there something wrong with it?"

Yeah, there is definitely something wrong with it. The fact that now it's right in front of me, and I feel like I'm going to hurl again…I pushed through the nausea and continued speaking in as calm a voice as I could get out though.

"You're probably not aware since you're wearing that so close to your body, but that pendant's stone is actually made of something called kryptonite… and it's radioactive." I explained, and both of them took on shocked looks on their faces. While the radiation is extremely harmful to Kryptonians, it also wasn't good for humans to be exposed to Kryptonite for long periods of time either.

Lena, with a look of worry, actually ran over to Lex and tried to snatch the pendant out of his hands. At the last second, though, he pulled it back and slipped it inside his shirt again. I let out a sigh of relief as it wasn't directly in my line of sight anymore, even though I could still slightly feel its effects.

"Not that I don't trust you or anything, Supergirl," Lex said, "but my father wore this for years, and he never had any issues with it. I hope you don't mind that I'll have it tested in a lab to confirm what you just warned me about."

"Lex," Lena said as she gave her brother a dry stare, "our father died of lung cancer, and he never smoked a day in his life. Nobody could ever figure out where the cancer sprung up from. If that pendant is radioactive, it clearly came from that…" She trailed off as she pointed towards him.

"Oh… Right." Lex said with a sigh.

"Well, I don't want to interrupt you two any longer," I said, not wanting to linger around the Kryptonite any more than necessary. The longer I stayed, the weaker I'd become, and I definitely didn't want Lex Luthor, of all people, to know Superman's and my one weakness in the world. I hoped that once Lex had the thing analyzed, he would destroy it. "I'll stop by again tomorrow, Lena," I assured her as I took off through the window, soaring high into the air towards the Sun, trying to rid my system of the remaining Kryptonite as quickly as possible.

"Phew, what are the freaking odds that Lex Luthor of all people just randomly had a piece of Kryptonite…" I muttered to myself as I was hovering a few thousand feet above Metropolis. "Who am I kidding, this is the DC Universe. Of course, if anybody was going to stumble upon Kryptonite, it would be him."

I heard a rush of air as I turned my head to the side and saw someone who brought a smile to my face.

"Supergirl, I thought I spotted you up here," Superman called out to me as he flew close. "What are you doing in Metropolis? Were you looking for me?"

I explained to my cousin about the scientist I was looking for, along with the robot he had built, Red Tornado. For some reason, however, instead of being surprised, his face actually took on a dark look.

"This robot or android or whatever it was," Clark said bitterly, "you said that it had the ability to create a massive F5 level tornado almost out of nowhere…" He trailed off, and I saw something I'd never seen on his face - genuine anger.

"Um… yeah, that's right," I gulped from his expression as I explained to him. "What's wrong?"

What Clark told me next was truly shocking, and it left my eyes wide open in surprise. He explained the source of his anger, something I had never even considered as a remote possibility…

"Clark, I'm so sorry, if that's really true then–"

"Please, somebody help me! Please get away from me, you creeps! What the hell is wrong with you!?"

I saw Clark's eyes widen as we both heard the screaming of a woman coming from the city down below us. Without needing to say anything, both of us immediately turned and blitzed down towards the source.

"Please, no, oh my God, your eyes, both of you… what are you two!?"

I heard the frantic pounding of a scared heartbeat as Clark and I arrived above a dark alley in what I would classify as the seedier area of Metropolis.

"It doesn't matter what we are, all that matters is that you are our next meal." A menacing voice snarled out towards the scared woman.

The scene that Superman and I had arrived at was two figures in black cloaks pinning a scared woman to a wall in a dark alley. Neither of the two figures had heartbeats… They were vampires.

"All right, assholes, let the woman go," I said, and the two vampires underneath the cloaks actually jumped up a bit in what I assumed was fright from being startled. Good, these blood-sucking assholes should be afraid of us. Since we flew here, they obviously didn't hear us coming.

The terrified woman's expression turned to one of hope when she spotted Superman and me. "Superman, Supergirl, please help me! I don't know what these two want, they just grabbed me off the street and pulled me here. And their eyes, their eyes don't look human at all, they're glowing red!"

The two vampires in the cloaks spun around from facing the woman, and Clark and I got a good look at their faces. Their red eyes widened in shock at seeing the two of us hovering in the air slightly above them.

"What the hell!? Who are you two supposed to be!? And what's with those outfits?" One of the vampires barked out at us.

Faster than they could react, now that they were no longer focusing on the woman, Superman zoomed right behind the two of them, grabbed her, and took off out of the alley. The two of them could only freeze in shock at the insane speeds they probably just witnessed. A few seconds later, Superman returned right next to me, glaring menacingly at the vampires. I just hovered right next to him smirking.

"You were planning on killing that woman, weren't you?" Superman trailed off as he continued glaring at the two of them.

"So what if we were?" the other vampire spoke up. "Do you know who the hell we are!?" He reached into his coat and pulled out a pendant that I immediately recognized. "We're members of the Volturi! We're on top of this world and its food chain. I have no idea who you flying assholes are, but going against us is a crime punishable by death!"

He had no idea who we were? Really? Were the Volturi just completely out of touch with any modern media or news? Superman and I were some of the most recognizable faces on the entire planet, and they really didn't know who we were? Were they even aware there was an alien invasion a couple of days ago!?

"Supergirl," Superman spoke to me, and I turned and looked at him. "These are the vampires you had been warning me and the other heroes about, aren't they... the Volturi?"

The two vampires smirked arrogantly as they heard Superman talk about them. I told him yes. Although these two just looked like stupid grunts, they must have been new disposable members or something. They didn't particularly give off that ancient feeling that the older vampires such as Carlisle or Jasper had.

"That's right. Now you know who we are. Are you afraid yet? Well, it's too bad because you're not going to escape us," the first hooded vampire said as he held up his hand, and to my surprise, a miniature tornado actually formed within his palm. He smirked at his gift like it was anything impressive. What the hell was a 5-in tornado even supposed to do? Wait… tornado?

Uh-oh...

Now was not the time to be bringing up tornadoes of any kind around Superman! That was a guaranteed way to set him off! Especially after what he had just told me earlier. I glanced at him, and he had a furious look on his face from seeing the mini tornado in the vampire's palm. "Wait, Cla—" Faster than I could even speak out, Superman was already right in front of the two vampires as he pulled off an actual double Lariat and immediately decapitated both of them. Their heads went flying and slammed into the alley walls, leaving cracks in the bricks as their bodies now dropped to the ground, unmoving.

Well... that's one way to handle it, I suppose.

Superman let out another huff of anger before he realized what he had done and had a solemn look on his face. "Relax, Clark, they're vampires, remember? Cutting off their heads isn't actually going to kill them. They're fine," I spoke to him, and he let out a sigh of relief. Him and his bleeding heart, even facing monsters, he was still hesitant to put them down permanently.

"So what should we do with them?" Superman turned and asked me.

I told him that for now, he might as well take their heads and bodies back with him to his Fortress, where he can store them away for us to interrogate later. If these two were genuine members of the Volturi, then they would have some incredibly useful information for us when the Justice League eventually made a move to take down their entire dynasty.

Superman nodded to me before gathering the pieces in his arms and taking off into the sky. Before he left, he reminded me to contact him once I got a solid lead. It appeared that he wanted to handle the Red Tornado situation personally.

That made me reflect back to our conversation we had in the sky a couple of minutes ago. Clark had given me a shocking revelation. It was a freak tornado that sprang up out of nowhere that ended up killing his father a little over a year ago. Clark apparently thought he was hallucinating from grief at the time, but he told me that he recalled seeing a red blur flying through the sky shortly before that tornado had appeared out of nowhere…

-Interlude-

"So, Doctor," Lex said as he entered the secret lab hidden beneath Lexcorp tower. "Have you discovered anything else from the blood sample?"

When the superheroes literally ripped the alien ship from the sky and sent it crashing towards the outskirts of Metropolis, Lex immediately knew it was an opportunity he could not afford to miss. He spent millions bribing the cleanup crew to scavenge the wreckage, and while most of it turned out to be worthless scrap metal, he did find one incredible prize – the canister.

Hidden within the bowels of the ship was a sealed canister made of indestructible metal. Fortunately, it was easy to open, revealing a single vial made of crystalline material. What was truly special though, was what was inside that crystal vial…a small amount of alien blood! When that was discovered Lex knew that the millions he spent had been absolutely worth it. Since then, his company's scientists had been working tirelessly studying the sample.

Lex's head researcher had a few drops of the alien blood in a petri dish in front of him. "Ah, Mr. Luthor. This sample is truly extraordinary. What I have found most intriguing is the sheer adaptability of this blood! It should be impossible that such a thing exists–"

"And yet, here it is right in front of us," Lex finished the man's statement, captivated by the doctor's enthusiasm. "So tell me, what have you found about this blood sample so far?" Lex asked.

"This blood, as I have found, is completely indestructible. You wouldn't believe the various tests I've already put it under. I've electrocuted it, I've burned it with fire, hell, I've stuck it in the microwave, and no matter what I've done, the blood remains completely unfazed, always restoring itself from any damage inflicted upon it. I'm telling you, this could be the cure to everything – every single disease, every single illness, every single injury!" The doctor was speaking louder and louder, his excitement reaching the roof!

Meanwhile, Lex's eyes widened at the groundbreaking information he just heard. If that were true, he had just stumbled upon the find of the century... no, the find of the millennium! "That's absolutely amazing," Lex said as he approached the petri dish to get a closer look. To his and the doctor's surprise, however, when he got within a few feet of the petri dish, the blood inside started to bubble!

"That's never happened before," the doctor said excitedly. "I wonder what caused it?" The doctor ran up to the petri dish for a closer inspection as Lex took a few steps backward. To his surprise, when he did, the blood immediately stopped bubbling. Curious about this possible coincidence, Lex took another step forward, and once again, the blood in the petri dish started to boil. The doctor noticed Lex's behavior and turned to him. "Is it reacting to you, or is there something special on your person that's causing it to react this way?"

Lex didn't think he had anything on him that would be causing this reaction, until he thought back to his recent conversation with Supergirl earlier that day. He reached into his pocket and pulled out his Kryptonite necklace. As soon as he did, the blood started reacting and bubbling even more.

"Fascinating," the doctor said, examining Lex's pendant. "Whatever that stone is made of is clearly causing some sort of reaction with the blood. Would you mind leaving it here so I can run some more tests?"

Lex agreed; he had actually been looking to get rid of this pendant anyway after Supergirl's warning. He never suspected that it was releasing a small amount of radiation that could have led to him getting cancer had he worn it for longer. He didn't want to end up going the same way as father did. That was for sure.

Lex handed over the pendant to the doctor, who set it down next to the petri dish. "I'm going to leave this here overnight next to the blood sample, and we'll see if there are any changes. For now, though, why don't we head out, and I'll explain to you about some of the other projects we've been working on down here." The two of them left the lab, with the doctor enthusiastically explaining all his recent work to Mr. Luthor.

Unbeknownst to them, after a few minutes of bubbling, the blood suddenly stopped and remained eerily still. Then, millimeter by millimeter, it slowly started moving from the middle of the petri dish towards the piece of Kryptonite now resting nearby on the table…
