38 Chapter 29: Uprise of demons

There was a wide fissure on the ground that spewed out mass amount of dark element, no differ from a volcano exploding out thick ashes.

Emyrs wanted to clogged the fissure, but he hesitated for a moment. Trying to close something that has such high pressure would only cause more problems. He was stuck in a dilemma. Would trapping it be better or filtering it? Decision fatigue kicked in, looks like even god has trouble making decisions. {Just destroy this entire place...zzz}

Emyrs: purify!

Dazzling white sparks covered the fissure, a roaring sound emerge from within, it was pretty obvious that something is in pain.

Emyrs: Looks like it's working.

The dark fog around Emyrs seems to be fading as Emyrs increase his power of the spell, [(SR)purify]. With the dark element density tumbling at an insane rate, Emyrs' job here is done.

However, things aren't always as easy as it seems. From within the fissure, black toxic glasses cause the whole ground to rumble, harder and harder.

Emyrs: Something's fishy here, let's check it out.

Emyrs summer assault elegantly in the fissure, extreme flashes of white light shot out the fissure at intervals like a flickering ship light of morse code, seemingly random yet filled with unexplainable heights of charm.

Emyrs: (baffled and petrified) What... what is this...

Right in front of Emyrs was some kind of mutated hive mind, intoxicating colour of green paired with black thick liquid that barely hangs on its many large pores. In some of the unclogged pores blew out misty void like substance that quickly evaporated to dense dark fog that Emyrs was trying to purify.

It was levitating in the air, spinning slowly like the planets that make up our universe. Ignoring the floating hive, the ground itself was far worse, carved up further than the eye could see, implying the acidity of the liquid goo was an extreme. From what Emyrs can see, horrified him, the corroded walls of the world were sticky and black like fossil fuel, what's worse was the fact that the residues of evaporated goo, started to pulse, beat after beat, it morphed itself into a massive creature one by one, crowding the vision of Emyrs.

Those unexplainable sickening morbid creatures came to life, and like a hive mind started to rise one by one like ascending souls, but this time was the ascending of destruction. In a very long time, he came to know the existence of fear once again. It was something that he had thought he had conquered long before he came to this world, let alone now, but no, it was only residing on the utmost edge of his mind.

"[ The hive mind, is a core part of maintaining a balance in this world- error*$=#]"

Do you wish to destroy this hive mind? There may be unimaginable consequences.

[Yes] [No]

Instilled by a long forgotten sense ,fear, he pressed Yes. When he realized he had done it was already too late... People make choices with emotions not wisdom... He had truly done it now, and he has to pay for the unimaginable repercussions in the future.

The hive mind was petrified, then pale, then crumbled to the river of time, never to be regained...

Emyrs: (his fingers were trembling uncontrollably, as if an alien had taken over him. It took him a while before stopping and sighed ) Consequences, ah, consequences... (turning back towards the fallen dark creatures) at least they would be one less hassle to deal with.

He teleported back to met with Alice. Greeted by a warm hug, many worries were lost along with it. He patted back at the little girl's head.

Alice: (unwilling to let go, hugged with effort) I was worried. You were gone, long, very long. I couldn't feel you... You, missing.

Emyrs: I'm alright now, let's have an all you can eat feast tonight. {it's called a buffet}

Alice: (instant change of attitude, eyes gleaming with gluttony) food!

POV Eddy and the rest of Emyrs team

At the royal palace, a place sparking with gems and shiny ornaments, behind the tall impenetrable doors guarded by a plethora of elite soldiers lies Eddy and the rest of Emyrs' team, eyes, nailed towards the soft silky red carpet of the icy floor. None of them dares to take a peek at the giant silhouette that sat sturdily at his throne made with heavenly jewels and other worldly treasury; beside the man, was a thin man wearing a robe, young but frail.

As many would tell you, never offend the right hand man of a powerful leader, because he or she will be just as powerful. The young man had a cold temperament, and ocean blue eyes. He stares into the soul of the young adventurers; there was a moment of silence, and the young man whispered words softly at the giant's ear, he nodded, the young man backed down.

King: (looking down at the adventurers, words as powerful as a dragon came out ) Rise you head.

Some hesitated, some were shaken, some were instilled with fear and some raised elegantly, from those small movements, the king could vaguely guess their position on the social status. After all, as a king, he meets with people of all types around the world.

King: (the stiff atmosphere dimmed) I heard you, adventurers, are here to report about an unexpected sighting; I'm intrigued, enlighten me.

Eddy: (speaks up) Yes, my king, as we were traveling the ancient forest, we witnessed first hand of numerous mighty monsters migrating to a new place, out of fear as I presume.

King: Hahaha, interesting, very interesting, tell me more!

Eddy: We were searching for a silver thorn in that forest but while heading back, something unforeseen happened. Large hot boulders showers down from above, disintegrating anything it touches. In the midst of all those, tyrannical monsters crashed down our paths, fleeting in panic. Unfortunately, we did not stay as it might be too dangerous. My king, I feel an ominous presence of me. I predict that without well planned strategies and fortified forts, it might be our downfall.

King: {author: Reminds me of Garen} Can't be too cautious right? We are going to expend resources on defending against the cunning Krist kingdom anyway, their attitudes seems to me lacking these days, might as well do it now. Casson, arrange the builders to start now, don't forget to increase pay.

Casson: Yes my king.

King: (turned back at the team) Worry not, reward shall be given to those who warn. 500 gold!

Casson: (horrified) 500?!

King: These are good men, and good men will be rewarded.

Casson: but-

King: (echoes of deep voices could be heard) Now, you know what to do.

Cassan: yes, my king

Eddy and the team: Thank you for kindness, your majesty

King: No worries, also Eddy, stay back I would like to have some words with you.

Cassan handed them a massive leather pouch, and the rest of the team left, leaving Eddy behind...

End...
