37 Chapter 28: investigation
Emyrs: Alright let's go.
Sarah: (?) Isn't the exit this way? (pointing towards the direction of stemped movement) Leader, why are you running the other way?
Emyrs: Don't worry about me, I'll be doing some investigation. Just head back to the city and report to the king, we will meet there soon. That's an order!
Sarah: Wait, that's not what we agreed upon!
Emyrs: You can only come if you can catch up with me or else you'll be left behind alone. (Turns around and stormed away with great speed)
Natsumi: Woah, that's some quick fee-
Woosh-
A small silhouette dashed past everyone at mach speed.
Natsumi: What was- (Looks beside her and saw the outline of the missing Alice) No, Alice come back! (Tries to chase after Alice, but was stopped dead on track by Sarah)
Sarah: If you went you would only die, they are too fast for us, we should comply our leader's words and return to the city.
Natsumi: (Sorrow filled her once bright eyes) Bu- but my lovely Alice…
Faelyn: Haven't you guys notice yet?
Sarah & Russell: (unexpected interest towards the particular question) What?
Faelyn: Both our leader and sister Alice are unusually strong for their age.
Russell: (Retaliate) You are thinking too much, they are just talented that's all.
Faelyn: No, not only that. I feel as if both of them are holding back their true powers.
Sarah: (In deep thought) Now that you mention it, instantly killing an alpha type monster (ref. King of shadow lurkers) is pretty ridiculous.
Russell: Like I said you guys are thinking too much, our leader got the rarest weapon on the bacon dungeon remember?
Sarah: That only make us speculate further, if that was just random luck or was he pulling strings from behind. Let's focus on getting out of here, everyone has their own secrets to keep. I trust that our leader wouldn't harm us.
Faelyn: (tease) That's a little too much trust to put on someone you haven't met for long… or have you fallen in-
Sarah: (Rossy tint cheeks, turns away) Let's go…
Faelyn only smiled, "Romance like a drug, addictive to have but painful to lose". At the thought, his smile blatantly vanished, a sickle of mournful sadness took its place. Like the night sky, it's end is where one close their eyes.
Natsumi: (Struggling to let go of the hand that locks on to her) What are you doing idiot, let me go!
Russell: You think I don't want too?!
Natsumi: Remove your hands or else I'll slice you too a million pieces!
Russell: Bite me!
Natsumi: (aggressively) Rawr!

I think you guys left someone behind… What's his name again? (Seriously, I actually forgot his name at the time of writing this…)
Emyrs and Alice side

Emyrs: I didn't expect you to follow me...
Alice: I'll always be beside you, brother.
Emyrs: I thought we are currently in a husband and wife relationship?
Alice: Yik! Only brother and sister like you promised!
Emyrs: Erm... I don't remember promising anything but sure.
Both of them sped up but soon realised the air around them became denser, which increased the drag. Furthermore, their vision darkness and everything felt heavy.
Alice: (coughing) very thick… hard to breath.
Emyrs: (looking at the large red dot on his map) It's dangerous (mind) ahead, you should go back first.
Alice: (wear's slightly bent) Return quickly, I'll be waiting.
Emyrs: Don't worry, it will only take a while.
Inside the brewing darkness of the treacherous fog, Emyrs felt the weight of universe upon his shoulders. A sudden putrid stench hits him like a river. The unbearable reek forced him to shield himself in a bubble.
Sizzling sound could be heard the deeper he went. It came from the bubble that Emyrs made. There were only 2 reasons why the bubble would sizzle, the Ph(acidity & alkaline) or the heat.
It turns out to be the former. The dark element has trace amounts of acidity and in a dense amount it would straight out be extremely corrosive. Furthermore it is molecule in size, extremely small, till the point of able to penetrate you cells and take over you from the inside like a parasite.
Seeming things are about to be grave, Emyrs rushed to the first signs of life, the big red dot on his map. However, something was amiss. The only thing that awaits him was a vacant deserted wasteland of darkness.
Being slightly agitated, he searched and searched desperately, but to no avail. When you fail to find something repeatedly, you'll notice that your current ways would never work and you need to adapt; changing how you do it, not why you do it.
He sat down with a clear mind and went into deep taught. The so called flow state was the key. Countless possibilities flowed through his mind; one after another, he disposed the possibility like trash and finally after an hour, one solution clicked in his mind, maybe it wasn't alive.
Something as simple as that, slipped past his great mind. It is only after a long deep taught, did he finally found the source of the problem; something he had missed long ago.
With a newly found target, the source was right in front of him. His reliance on the map lead to this mistake. He wasn't about to make his reliance on a single function be his downfall.
