1 End of World and Beginning of a New Era

We thought that by the end of 2050 humanity would develop far more than anyone could imagine and become the most powerful existence but we were wrong. A meteor crashed to our Earth in 2050 and from the meteor powerful radiations started coming out which covered the whole world.

The rays caused some kind of changes in people. It was like those superpowers shown in mangas and movies even the animals and terrains started changing. All the continents which were formed earlier started to join or divide.

People called the superpowers "Abilities" and people with those powers were called "Fighters".

(The abilities were like systems shown in games.)

Not long after the spread of radiation dangerous creatures started coming to cities through portals that appeared randomly at different locations sometimes from the ground, sometimes from the sky, from water bodies everywhere. They were all more than 50 meters tall and devoured anything that came in their way; so we named them "Devourers" The lasers they shoot from their eyes, turned 1000 of cities to dust in a few seconds. 

The sudden appearance of those shocked people and panicked their hearts. Millions of lives were lost, even the powerful nations could do nothing against them. Powerful weapons like misiles, tanks and nukes could only give them a scratch.

I was also going to become a victim of them but then I saw a light coming towards the creature. That light cut the creature into two half. Then from the shadows came a man and said "You okay kiddo?"

Then many people like him came to rescue others. I was amazed by that sight and my heart felt like it could burst at that moment with excitement. Those saviours called themselves as "Fantasy Fighters".

The Earth we once knew, its name was changed to Fantasia Gi.

Due to the destruction of many nations, the government came to end and after 20 years fifteen powerful fighters formed fifteen nations by force and became rulers of those nations. To prevent the powerful people from dictating weaker people completely, the organisation "Fantasy Fighters" was formed which was supervised by the "Divine Ten".

The meteor that fell on December 2049, was a kind of ore that contained the divine power of the ancient Gods. That meteor when stroke the surface of Earth, released all the powers contained in it.

Apart from this all animals evolved into magical beasts which were hunted by humans for their core and materials.

The ridiculous and confusing thing was, that humans could level up by absorbing the energy in magical cores and achieve immortality. With this, the beginning of a new era for humanity started.

I am Adel Cronin a student, of Fantasia's second-biggest academy, Raven High after Sacred Supreme Academy where teachers teach students how to become fighters. Today is the day for which I have been waiting. I will be able to know about my ability and be one step close to becoming an official fighter. Being an official fighter can help you in earnings and give you fame. I don't have any big goals, I just want to become strong enough to go for hunting high-level dungeons.

(He was standing in a queue waiting for his turn to come but suddenly felt a tap on his shoulder and never expected to see him there. A man with bright skin, slight long black hair, a handsome face and a sturdy body wearing a white furry long coat with gold embroidery and black shirt, called him.)

"Hey kiddo how have you been lately?"

"It's you! I can't believe my eyes",

My eyes are filled with joy and my excitement has reached its climax.

"Do good in your upcoming tests someone will be watching you. And when you are strong enough, I will let you challenge me in Heroes Tournament. Until then goodbye boy."

( His heart started pumping so fast that he felt it would burst. In his mind he was thinking)

"He wished me good luck. Even though I thought of living a slow life but is I get a sttong ability I will become the strongest and challenge him."

So what would be my ability? To shoot lasers, or superhuman strength, maybe space control like [Cosmic King], one of the "Divine Ten"?

"Please put your hand on the crystal plate to know your ability and wait for results"

(A voice echoed from the machine.)

I used to be the best in everything and not to brag, I was the smartest person in my whole class maybe I would get an amazing ability.

If I get something like that then I can easily reach knight-level.

#Author note: The fighters could level up condensing the energy acquired from absorbing the cores.

(The more they condense energy the more powerful they become. If two fighters are at the same level but one has more condensed energy than the other; then the former one will be more powerful.)

"Results of student "Adel Cronin" is here. The title "HERO" has been confirmed. Ability verifying...found results. Ability DYNAMIC CREATION has been confirmed. Starting level.....cannot be measured...starting level unidentified. ERROR! ERROR!" the machine started showing error and then it shut down.

(On hearing this, people around Adel start whispering)

"Are you serious creation ability with title HERO?"

"Must be some kind of error."

"Yeah, how could a useless non-combative ability get that title?"

(A title is like an achievement earned by an individual if he/she meets the required condition for that. Titles were extremely rare to get since the conditions required are quite typical. But there were some titles which selected people were born with; the HERO, the CHOSEN and the ENVIED.)

"Look who's here the genius Adel Cronin with a title like HERO and a trash ability like creation. Look at my ability and my title. I have also been given the title of HERO and my ability is GRAVITY SURGE. Do you notice the difference between us now? Can you face me now? Do you regret now what have you done?

(A girl of the same age as Adel was glaring at him.)

She is Elena, my childhood friend. We used to play together a lot when we were kids but that day of the new year changed our destiny. We got separated from each other due to the chaos after that I never contacted her anymore because she was more comfortable around the noble families children. I was an orphan but her parents were the one who took care of me.

You can say she is a tsundere, she cares about others but doesn't let anyone see her true nature. She is not a bad girl. But I don't know if she cares about me anymore.

"Hey Elena you are right he is just a useless hero who just doesn't know a thing about fighting but still wants to show off with his petty knowledge. Let me show and tell you my ability is ELEMENTAL MANIPULATION which is far superior to your puny creation ability ."

(A boy with blonde hair appeared behind Elena. He was looking like some spoiled kid of a prosperous family, same arrogant attitude and boasting talks.)

He is Ridel Claventine a very proud and arrogant boy of our whole academy. His father is a very influential person so he often bullies others.

But I don't care about their curses, I am just too excited that I got a title like HERO and my ability suits perfectly with me. I can't wait to try out my abilities and one day fight 'Beings' but it might take me 100 years to slay one with my creation ability.

(Well as soon as the machine crashed some people came towards it and said)

"This is the machine's fault. Sorry for the inconvenience the results might be due to an error so we would check into this matter." (Saying this they went away.)

(This is how he ended up with a name like "The Useless Hero".)

Well, I should ignore the results. I should go try out my power first. I need to collect materials to craft something. Let's go to those abandoned towns. I can easily get some materials at a low rate there.

(Adel went to a small town nearby the city to get some materials for crafting. Lucky enough he got some basic materials to craft at least a knife.)

So I have iron ore, a magic stone, hard leather and a hammer. So by just hammering once, I will be able to create a knife. Most crafters do this!

Clang!

"I guess, one more time."

Clang!

Um, why is nothing happening?

KABOOM!!!

BZZZZZZZT!

What was that? Did someone attack this town?

(Adel turned around and looked up in the sky. He saw a Hitrapsi, an elemental dragon-like creature with the power of fire and thunder. He was taller than any buildings he had ever seen in his life. Emergency help didn't arrive there because it was just a small town, no one cared for the poor people.)

I can't save everyone. It is too much power for me to handle. I have to escape first.

(As Adel was going to run away. He saw a little girl trying to save her mother who was stuck in the rubble of a building. Seeing her reminded him of his childhood.)

BOOM!!!BOOM!!

(Suddenly the Hitrapsi started throwing lightning and flames. It destroyed the houses, cracked the floors and killed people as he was having fun.

I don't care anymore I am going to save them. But how can I kill it? Let's ignore that for now my priority is to rescue others first.

(Adel rushed towards the girl took her mother out of rubble then searched for other survivors and rescued them. Then he went in the direction Hitrapsi was.)

Even if I have rescused them I don't think they will be able to run with those injuries. Should I leave them or should I fight that thing? But if I run, how can i call myself a hero! But how can I use my ability?

"Adel your power lies in your imagination. Trust me and imagine what you want to create."

(A voice echoed inside Adel's brain then went silent.)

Who was that? I don't care anymore let's just do what she said. Imagine! Imagine! Got it!

"Ability DYNAMIC CREATION activate! Create- Anti-detection Mask"

In this world you should always hide your power because one you gain someone's attention, they will either recruit you or kill you.

"Hey, lizard you want to play? Then I will play with you." My heart is pounding at a very fast rate can I win or not. I don't have time to think about it let's just go all out. Let my imagination run wild.

"Create- Laser Arrows, take this if you have guts."

"You puny human how dare you challenge this mighty one! I can just kill you with my one finger"

(The dragon roared with rage and started throwing flames at him. Adel kept on shooting laser arrows but they just scratched its skin and didn't do any great damage to it.)

Is it an intelligent magical beast? It can talk so it must be one. I have to take it down fast. Think about all the video games I played, there can be a weapon that can defeat it. Something which can disturb the laws of space.

Wait a minute! I know something like that. I always saw it in my dream. I wielded it and killed many monsters with it.

"Ability DYNAMIC CREATION activate!"

"Create-Dimension Splitting Sword"

(Adel was holding a sword made purely from the cosmic energy of the universe.)

"You puny human do think you can kill me with your toy? Wait that is not a normal weapon. That power is terrifying. Stop it! You fool everything will get destroyed and you can't control that much power"

(The Hitrapsi said terrifyingly. He could feel the power of a divine being in it but he could see that the power was straining Adel's body.)

"You know what I just noticed you don't move from your place but you still didn't get much injured, that means you can travel between spaces but my sword can kill you easily. Not even the saint [Weapon Master] has this kind of weapon. Now say goodbye."

I wanted to say these lines. It's so cool.

"Hey, human let's come to a deal. Don't be so foolish. I can be your servant if you let me live."

"Guess what lizard you are buying time by talking rubbish to ready your most powerful attack; aren't you?"

"Human you are not foolish as much as you look but it's too late now die"

(Saying this the dragon Hitrapsi threw out a huge ball of fire and lightning fused, that could destroy a whole nation if landed.)

I remember how I swung the sword. "Take this, a vertical slash."

"Aaarrrrgh!!! Curse you human!"

(The slash cut the fused energy ball. But it did not stop there, it splits the Hitrapsi in two and distorted the timeline and space.)

Did I kill him? Hah, I never thought it would work. A moment more and my hand would have fallen off. I guess I will absorb its core to level up.

"I can feel the energy in my body has incresed a lot. Now then, I should check the condition of the little girl."

( Adel went near the little girl who was treating the injured.)

"Everything looks good!"
