21 Chapter 20

[Toneri's POV]

As I decimated through the hordes of orcs coming in from all directions, I couldn't help but notice the increase of their power.

At first, I only orcs that were around the rank of B or C, but as time goes on, not only are there more orcs with different classes appearing, some of them even have good weapons. There are even some orcs showing up riding some kind of creature that looks like a hound... Riders? Orc riders? I dunno.

Anyways, take for example this guy in front of me

"Kii... Kkiii..."

On my hand was a body of an orc covered in his blood while holding a mace. But let's focus more on his weapon, this thing actually has enchantments on it. And I don't mean by Minecraft enchantment table type of enchantment but the rune type of enchantment. If I have to guess, this thing could probably be sold for a lot of money if sold properly.

So, what did I do? Simple. I collected them. Sure, according to the hunters association contract that if a hunter(s) were to clear a gate and collect some items, the collected items will be distributed to their guild. But if the said hunter isn't in any guild, then the association will take the items in the cleared gate and distribute some money to the said hunters.

As for me? I haven't really joined any guild right now. But! I am planning to join a specific one. So, for now, I'll let the association get their hands on the items I COLLECTED and receive some cash.

Hm? I'm angry? Haha, no. Just a bit frustrated. :)

Anyways, enough of my greedy monologue, what I want to know is—

'Hm?'

In the distance, I sensed some presence of people entering the gate

'Oh, I guess my time is up.'

"Hah..." Letting out a light sigh, I piled up all the items I collected from the orc warriors, mages, and orcs that use aggro.

(A/N: An Aggro-type skill is just a 2005 RPG game term for the tank class nowadays. In layman's terms, someone who taunts the enemy mob to attack them)

And seeing the seemingly endless waves of orcs rushing in from the caverns, I used Banshō Ten'in to destroy the ceiling to block off their path

*Crack—*

*BOOM*

(A/N: I swear, there's something about literary sound effects that makes it look... Off.)

"URRRGGGHHH!"

"AGHH!"

"UWOOGH!!"

Soon, more and more orcs got crushed by the rubble of rocks that fell down from the top. Some orc mages tried to use magic but failed as I stopped them by throwing in some Rasengan, of course.

After a few minutes, the path leading to the boss room got blocked off.

And the rumbling sounds echoed throughout the cavern that may or may not have alerted the hunters that entered the gate and are now rushing to my position

"Hunter Toneri!" ×2

Oh, and would you look at that. Two people running towards me wearing dark armor and a robe. This gate had a lot of orcs so it should be around A-Rank, so my guess is these guys may perhaps be around the same rank or lower.

I turned around and asked "Were you guys sent by the association?"

Almost instantaneously, the person wearing the robe (which I think is a mage, obviously) answered me "Yes! The Association personnel are now currently outside!"

Whew~ they sure are fast. I'm sure those three students I saved just called them yet they already got here...

I shrugged and replied "Can you two tell the people outside that I'll clear this one first?"

Yep, I'm planning on clearing this dungeon here and now. There's something in the boss room that of quiet... Interesting.

The mage hunter looked a bit reluctant but finally gave in and replied "Y-Yes... Although, I can't promise that the Association would willingly give you this gate, Hunter Toneri..."

Hearing her reply, I chuckled a bit. "It's fine... Even if they get angry, I'm the one that'll get punished... And what are they gonna do? Revoke my hunter's license? Haha..."

"..."

"..."

The two stayed silent for a while and looked at me as if they saw someone digging up his own grave.

"..."

Of course, I too was silent realizing what I just said.

Shaking my head and sighing I gave me a last reply "Hah... Anyways, just do it. I'll probably just... Umm... Get restricted from clearing gates..."

Giving me one last stare, the two ran back to where they came from intending to do what I ordered.

Turning my back once again to the sealed path connecting to the deeper layers of the gate, I let out another sigh.

'Let's just get that item I'm sensing...' With that one last thought, I blew off the rubble in front of me and killed the orcs waiting on the other side.

* * *

"Ki... Kkii... Kiki... Oof" —Last words of an orc warrior before dropping dead to the ground.

After... Umm... About 10 minutes? I was finally about to reach the boss room. And God damn is this gate infested with many monsters. If I have to take a guess, there'll probably at least be hundreds of orcs in here... If it weren't for the fact that the orcs were at least ranked C or D, then this gate would have been categorized as an S-Rank the first time it spawns.

Anyways, after plowing through all those orcs, I finally got my sights on the boss room's door.

And, of course, without any regard to any traps or ambush lying ahead, I opened the gigantic doors and entered. But I'm no fool. Seeing those orcs with enchanted equipment, of course there'll be an orc that made them. So since this is the best room, the boss orc should have the strongest enchanted weapon— a.k.a the thing I want :)

So, after entering, I activated my TCM, and just as expected, 8 orcs holding enhanced weapons ranging from blunt hammers to sharp swords. I commanded a truth-seeking orb to my hand and used Ginrin Tensei Baku to blow them off.

"So... You are the being that had been killing my tribesmen..."

In the distance, a husky and ominous voice rang out. Obviously, the boss monsters.

But what piqued my interest was the orc's ability to speak with me. As far as I know, only Jin-Woo is capable of speaking the monster language... As for me? Well, I found this out shortly after the fight on Jeju Island. Basically, my perception is so fucking high, I can feel the intent behind the words that come out of the mouth of a being I'm talking to and translates them and vice-versa.

But only a few monsters have intelligence so I don't really get to talk with them that much. So the orc sitting on his throne in the distance surely got me interested.

"You must be the boss of these orcs, right?" I answered back

He just looked at me in the darkness while sitting on his throne made of bones. Soon, he picked up his greatsword and introduced himself "I am Guroktaru, Chieftain of the redblade tribe. What is your name, killer of my kin?"

I just smiled at him and answered back "Toneri. Otsutsuki Toneri."

"Very well, You who calls himself the name of Toneri! We shall fight and only one shall remain alive!" He said while running towards me.

Of course, I could clearly 'see' the fright in his eyes. He's scared. He knows he'll die if he fights me. But he still has to do it. If course it's because they are being commanded to 'kill humans'.

Respecting his choices, I made a giant Rasengan and rushed to him. He prepared himself for the impact as I smashed the giant Rasengan into his body. He tried to block it but failed and got blown off to the other side of the arena.

His armor is broken but his weapon was still okay, as expected of an item I sensed as strong.

I walked over to him at a fast rate and kneeled beside his dying body.

"You knew you would die, why would you fight?" I asked.

He started at me with his blood dripping down his forehead as he spoke with difficulty. "For I... Huff... I have found... A strong opponent..."

"... Is that right? Or are you simply just following the orders of the voice in your mind?" I added

*Cough*

Oh... Now he's coughing up blood. Poor guy, he's dying real fast.

"When... Huff... I fought you... There were no such voices... Huff..."

Hearing this, I raised one eyebrow and continued to ask him "Wait... What do you mean? Isn't your purpose to kill humans?"

I mean, I'm not wrong. Their main purpose IS to kill humans. And the whispers in their head assure that would happen.

"Haha... That... Is the problem... Warrior Toneri..."

I can feel it. What he's about to say will be his last words.

'MAKE IT COUNT, DAMN IT! FINISH YOUR WORDS PLEASE! DON'T BE LIKE THOSE FANFICTION AUTHORS THAT CREATES CLIFFHANGERS TO KEEP THEIR READERS WAITING FOR THE NEXT CHAPTER!' I screamed internally

He continued. "The problem is... Our mission... Is to kill you, humans... But you... *cough* You are no human... You simply wear the same face as them... Haha... *cough*"

With that last laugh and cough, the orc boss slowly died, leaving me with a dead body and a good weapon that I would definitely steal.

----------

A/N: That fucking migraine headache lasted for one and a half days, oh my god.

I wasn't able to do anything for two days, now my homework piled up.

By the way, have you guys seen the new comic version Emperor's Domination? Li Qiye's crow form looks sh¡t 😂

I thought he'll just be a giant crow with red glowing eyes, but in the comic version he's a demi-human crow, what the fuck? Me, along with other people's expectations were thrown to the trash bin
