16 Chapter 15
[General POV]
"Ms. Selner? You okay?" Said Toneri as he waved his other hand in front of Selner's blank face
After Selner touched Toneri's hand and used her ability, she sat there eyes opened. They knew she was in some sort of trance, but what is it?
The rest of the people in the room were also confused, especially Michael and Adam. Usually, Selner finishes her upgrade under 20 minutes, but she just stayed still for half an hour
*GASP—*
Finally, Selner broke the silence and breathed heavily, cold sweat running down her head while her eyes were full of fear.
*Huff... Huff...*
She kept her breath g heavily while holding her chest. Seeing this, Michael stood up
"Ms. Selner!"
He went to her and supported her back to stand up.
"Hey, you! Go get something to help her!" Michael yelled at one of the guards in the room
"No... It's... Fine..." Selner spoke with some difficulty
She then turned to Toneri who was also confused as the others.
She gulped a bit and tried her best to speak
"Hu-Hunter Toneri... I think our first session was a... success"
Although she said this with a smile, Toneri could sense forceness in her tone.
'Somethings... Suspicious...' Thought Toneri as he looked at Selner intently
He made a mental note to investigate this matter later. He knew Selner must've come across something when she tried to help him. As someone who knows the series, he knows that Selner can sometimes see the force behind a hunter
"A success huh? Well, that's a relief. By the way, are you okay?" Asked Toneri, acting ignoring her intense sweating and fear in her eyes.
"No-Nothing... It's fine... A-As for our second session, it will be held in a month... Is that fine...?" She said while walking towards the sofa and sitting on it. After that, she drank some water
Toneri squinted his eyes and finally confirmed that she is under pressure. He was not the only one who noticed this; Jin-Woo, who saw the whole thing, deduced her actions and came up with the same conclusion as Toneri.
However, unbeknownst to them...
'I must do what she says... I can't fail...' Thought Selner, obviously scared as the figure of that white-haired woman flashes in her mind
'If what that woman said was true... Then...' Selner thought while secretly glaring at Toneri at the seat
*Gulp*
She subconsciously gulped and spoke to Toneri "And by the way... The effects of the upgrade will manifest in the next 6 hours or so... So please stay away from citizens until then..." Selner said, then continued "I-I think we're done here, Hunter Toneri... As for Hunter Sung... Your session will happen shortly after..." Selner said, oblivious of what will happen if she tries to use her skill on Jin-Woo.
"Wait..! Hunter Toneri, about the citizenship..." Michael was about to drag Toneri but was stopped by Selner's hand
"This... Ms. Selner!" Yelled Michael helplessly
However, Selner just showed a warm smile and said to him "It's fine... Whether he wants to transfer to the US is his decision."
Although she sounded calm, her time was a bit assertive.
Hearing this, Michael sighed helplessly and signaled Adam to escort out Toneri, to which the latter nodded
"Hunter Toneri, let us go." Adam said politely
"Alright" Toneri agreed.
'I don't want to watch her mental breakdown so I'll just leave now...'
After that, he bid farewell to them and exited the room with Adam

[Toneri's POV]
Oh yeah, something definitely happened to Selner. One question is; who or what caused it?
Let me recount what happened... She touched me, used her ability, blanked out... And then all of a sudden she turned nervous and fearful...
What did she sense, hear, or saw?
Without much of clues, I can't make any speculations. I can, however, make theories. For say, a malfunction happened while using her ability, or perhaps the upgrade wasn't really successful and failed and she just lied to me, or perhaps the most absurd and unbelievable theory I have... She saw the progenitor of chakra... Which is almost impossible as there is a literal world barrier separating this world from the world the progenitor is sealed in.
'I guess I could ask her for more questions when our second session is done.'
After making another mental note to almost a bucket-list full of mental notes in my head, I changed my appearance with a simple transformation jutsu and casually walked to my residence.
During the walk, I felt weird. Constant fluctuation kept happening inside me. I could feel my chakra coils... Getting destroyed? Modified? Create more? I honestly don't know. But one's thing's for certain, it hurts like hell. I mean, if it weren't for those painkillers I had to buy, I doubt I could be keeping a straight face walking in public.
I mean, can you imagine that? Imagine it like this. You know how your muscle fibers get destroyed and rebuild themselves, right? It's kinda like that. My chakra coils act as the muscle fibers and they're being continuously... Changed...
Well, although it hurts like hell, it is improving me by leaps and bounds, so I have no complaints about that... With this, my control of a jutsu can be strengthened and I may perhaps do much more advanced jutsus
Perhaps this is the upgrade Selner promised me, I guess. If this is only the first session, then what else could I gain from the other 2 sessions? What else would I gain more from the upgrades?
'I can't wait...'

After a long walk and riding transit, I reached my residence and walked in.
My body is aching so hard I just slapped down to the sofa and didn't even bother changing my clothes. I'm still wearing the formal suit I used in the funeral ceremony
*Ding!*
I used all my strength I have left from the constant muscle ache and internal pain to grab my phone to check what the notification I got
It was a message from Michael who texted me through my social media account

Michael: I'm sorry Hunter Toneri, but your next session will be postponed to two months due to some problems with Hunter Sung and Ms. Selner. I hope you understand the situation.

Seeing this, I couldn't help but sigh loudly
"*Sigh...*Yup, called it."
There's no way in hell the next session won't be postponed. I mean, have you seen the original series? When Selner tried to upgrade Jin-Woo, she got a literal mental breakdown. I'm not even surprised when Michael sent me this message.
With that out of the way, I guess I'm free for the next two months?
I could go on a vacation, slack around the house, train other aspects of my abilities that I still haven't tried out... Oh yeah! I was supposed to train Sage Mode! But... It's risky as hell...
Furthermore, I just found out a devastating fact. I don't know if this world has natural energy or not. In order for me to use Sage Mode, I need to first learn how to harness natural energy found in the atmosphere and the earth... But in this world, I don't even know if there is one.
But another shit reminder hit me.
'Ah... That's right... I accepted Ryuu's invitation to Japan...'
God damn it. I just can't catch a break.

A/N: Sorry for the late upload and short chapter... Some family problems are happening right now regarding my older sister and her boyfriend getting her pregnant. The bastard in question right now is hesitating and kept asking if it's his child. And I swear my blood boils whenever I see this shithead asking my sister that. (P.S: She really isn't my real sister, just my older cousin. But she lives with us and I see her as my sister)
