1 Before the 1st wave

I just woke up, and now I'm a god.

I instinctly knew everything. This is an innate ability that god have called Eternal Knowledge.

The universe periodically create new gods from existing living being, you just need to be intelligent and really, really lucky.

I was chosen, as well as seventy-two bilions other living beings, to become a god of the 72'958'496'294 generation. Yep, that's a lot.

We, god, don't have a physical body until we have finished our maturation phase. The maturation phase consist to protect a world from 100 waves of monsters. To do so, I have god's point. It's like skill point in RPG, except they are at another level. Let's come back on that later. The other asset I have is a hero, automatically summoned when I'm born as a god.

Let's look at the hero. It's a human male, just like I was. He is very similar to me. Let's speak to him.

- Hello hero.

- Who is this? Where am I?

- I'm the god of this world, and I need your help to protect it from monsters.

- What?! Why me? I don't know how to fight! Can you choose someone else?

- The selection is random, consider yourself lucky. If you protect this world from monsters, you'll gain a great power, you may even have a chance to become yourself a god! And now that you are here, you can only succeed or perish.

- If I die, will I wake up in my world?

- If you die, you die. No happy end.

Let him think by himself a bit. Let's focus on this world for now. This world look a lot like earth, but it's smaller. It's around half the size of the earth. The only intelligent species is human. The animals are less diverse than earth and the most dangerous is the size of medium-sized dog. Humans are very peacefull here. There's villages everywhere, but only less than ten cities. And this cities are each a small country, that govern a few or more villages. There's three main continent, but they are linked by ice on the pole. So you can walk from one to another, since the distance is smaller because this world is small.

What worries me is that there's not a lot of soldiers. Since the cities are very far from one another, they don't have a military. It's only some militia to ensure the law of the country is followed. This is going to be a big problem as more and more stronger and numerous monsters come in this world.

If I come back to the god points, there's three main categories where I can spend them. The first is hero. It will help boost my hero to a point he will basically be a superman, or a great mage that can invoke all kind of magic. The second is god magic. With those skills, I can just create city-level spell. The third category is army. It's not really a very well defined category, but mostly a mix of improvement for the civilizations of this planet.

If I focus on the hero, he'll become invincible in the early waves, and people will rely too much on him. The problem in the latter waves, is that the enemies may appear everywhere in the world. And the hero can't be everywhere. Of course you can invoke others hero, but it cost ten god points per supplementary hero. Even if there's some god skills that apply to all hero, it's very costly. And those skills are of course weaker.

If I focus on god magic, the problem is the scale and frequency of the spells. I could easily wipe out an army, but what about hundred of monsters appearing everywhere? And those spells can take up to one hundred years to recharge!

Then I could focus on the army. This is a good decision when the world is very big and there's a lot of country with big military. But I inherited a small and peacefull world...

I need to do a mix of everything. This is generally a bad strategy, and focusing everything in one area is better because of synergies. But I can't do that. If the human population is reduced to less than 10'000 souls, the maturation end and everyone die. And focusing on the hero can only work with a big world and a lot of human tribes hidden everywhere and who can defend themselves.

I have 20 god points. You can have from 2 to 50 god points. 20 is a decent amount, but I'll only gain one god point per wave completed. This is not going to work, I need to take the only god skill that allow to gain more god points. And this is Hero Survival. If the hero survive the waves, I gain one good point. And it cost 10 god points. I need to focus on the long term if I want to live. I take it.

With 10 god points, I need to make my hero strong and resilient enough that he doesn't die. The first wave is generally easy, nothing more than 100 orcs or 1'000 gobelins. And the ten first waves always appear near the hero and go to him. The problem is that there's only one town close enough to support him with a militia. And the militia is only 100 badly trained men and women. Ok, so let's say I'll spend 4 points on the hero, then 4 to improve the civilization regarding war and defense. Then I can use the 2 remaining points to prepare something to use in emergency, for later waves.

The hero can level up to level 50, which is the limit of this world. It's not even good enough for the ten first waves, aghh.. The good point however, is that he gain an ability every ten levels. And also, the base stats improve each level. When he is level 20, he will have the strength of two men. So let's help him a bit, I'll give him Fast XP so he can grow stronger very fast and gain new ability. I'll also give him Time XP, which give him XP continuously. This way he should level up a few time before the first wave. Generally hero can hunt monsters or bandits to gain level. But here, this won't work and he will remain weak if I don't give him some help to gain XP. Let's add resilience now. The people in this world don't wear armor, but I can improve that with army god skill category. Let's give him Abnormal Physical Resistance, it's a very good skill for defense on early wave. With that, I'll give him Titanium Sword Grow Item. This will give him a very solid sword, that will grow in quality with him, as he gain level. It's not as good as the others swords available, and it's not even a magic sword. However, this weapon will become better when the hero level up and I can always add god enchantment to improve it further when needed. For now it's just a basic sword with no capacity. But it's still the better sword of this entire world.

For the army god skills, I wanted to choose Grant Advanced Metallurgy. With this the blacksmith will gain knowledge of advanced crafting skills with iron, and others metals. But I saw that only two cities have developed metallurgy, and the city near him is not of them. I need to make sure they can create good armor and weapon or they will never hold. Since it'll cost too much to make them move to an advanced industry, I'll take another road.

I'll make some of them magician craftman. This way they'll be able to create powerfull magical item. The only problem is that there'll be too few magician craftman to provide for all the armies in this world. But I'm guessing that after wave 50, I'll start loosing cities after cities. So I should focus on a few cities only.

To create magician craftman, I need to select Grant Magic as the first skill. This one does nothing, except allowing access to the magical section of god skill in the army category. Now I need to choose how magician gain their magic, beside their inside potential. It takes dozen of years to build a strong magic to an individual. I need to make them gather magic from another source to speed up the process.

I could choose Winds Of Magic, this will cover this world with magic winds that can make an individual immensely powerfull when a wind come across him. The problem is that it's very random. If I took Magic Of The Nature, they could harness magic from the nature itself. It provide a constant stream of magic and is more powerfull the longer you stay in the wild. But then they would become druid and stay in forest all the time. And I need to make sure the cities are the home of the magicians or they will all die unprotected. I didn't want to take that path, but this leave me the choice of choosing an evil magic, like Soul Collection or Dream Feeding, or to spend 2 god points to provide them with two differents but complementary source of magic. I don't want to use evil magic, it comes with a backslash of making some waves harder. There's even the possibility that the magicians could become corrupted, and that would be my end.

I'll choose Immediate Unleashed Magic Potential, this god skill make that every magician can control their full potential from the start. Some of them will become very strong this way, but they will just not be enough. I will then select Random Magic Inheritance. Every time a magician die, his magic will randomly be given to another magician. This way the magic can never be lost. The only issue is that a magician can only inherit one magic. Otherwise you could create a few super magician very easily. This will not be very strong at the beginning, but will gradully increase the power of the magicians.

Now, I need to give them a skill to use their power one. I want them to craft weapon and armor of high quality, but not only. I need those weapon and armor to make a simple human a supersoldier. I also need to grant them a skill that can improve over time. Let's give them Reveal Mind Armor And Weapon. That will give them the ability to create a magical armor and weapon corresponding to the person they apply this power to. Hum, no. It's not enough. Although it will create very strong individuals, it's still not enough. I need to find another powerfull skill. And again I don't want to use some black or evil magic that would backfire on me, so no Demonic Magic Armor.

I was thinking that the magician need to craft weapon and armor for the soldier, but why not for them? My goal was to have a small and powerfull force, so it doesn't change anything if it's a magician or not. Let's choose Magic Potential Armor And Weapon Equivalent. They will automatically gain invocable sets of armor and weapon matching their styles. The weapon and armor may not be as strong as those from Reveal Mind Armor And Weapon, but it doesn't cost magic to use, only to craft and repair. This way they could still use their magic. When the first wave is over, I'll choose a magic to help them become even more stronger.

Now, I have 2 god points lefts. I want to choose some powers that can grow over time, so it'll become really usefull later. My first choice is Grow Wingless Angel. Every wave succeeded where I didn't active this skill, a random number of wingless angel will be added to the skill. When I finally use the skill, no wingless angel will be added this wave. This is a good choice to add some powefull force to the fight later on.

For my second skill, I want to create an entity that will be strong enough to defeat a dragon. A dragon will be the boss of the wave 11 or one of the next. My hero would need almost all god points won to be effective against it. So it's better to prepare a solution beforehand. Let's choose Egg Of Drake Of Light. Although a drake is less powerfull than a dragon, by choosing this skill as an egg, the drake will grow more powerfull every wave he isn't born. After wave 7 he will have the same strength than the basic skill Drake Of Light. But after wave 10, he won't be strong enough to defeat a dragon. However this skill comes with a bonus. When a creature of light is born, it gains a boost for the current wave. With this it'll be able to defeat a dragon in one in one. However after that, it'll only be a drake, a powerfull one, but still a drake. He'll add great strength to the armies of this world, but he'll not get stronger.

Okay, I'm now ready. Let's sent the hero to the closest city. I need him to prepare them and himself to the first wave.
