6 Funeral...maybe not

Three days have passed and today was the supposed approval date of the funeral for the grandmother of Luo Feng. Luo Feng had started rebuilding his composure although the stabbing pain of the emptiness he felt inside. Although the late approval date was due to having less money, at least his grandmother could get a funeral to respect her life and to have a place to visit and honor all the memories she left behind.

Looking at the fire of the cooking pot smiling slightly hesitantly…

[Shoti….if I were to leave...would you still think of me.?]

Clasping her hands together she fiddles with the hem of her shirt slightly nervous about the answer…

Luo Feng looks to her with a worried look, eyes wide and spluttering words before thinking

[Why would you leave me Ahma? Are you going away? Don't leave me alone please…daddy and mommy never stay…]

Bringing a hand to Luo Feng's face she caresses gently and laughs lightheartedly…

[Why would I leave you alone when you don't even know how to wear socks properly? I won't leave you shoti….]

Wiping some tears that had fallen from his face he pouts and with a relieved look shakily smiles at his grandmother…

[You promise?]

Such few words filled with hope…she can only smile brightly, lifting the mood slightly

[I would never leave you, you are just six years old! How could I leave such a cute shoti!]

Covering his face with his palm he could only make a blank stare...tears brimming his eyes.

[Why didn't you keep your promise? Why couldn't I save you!? Why…]

Wiping his tears harshly he remembers the words he swore to accomplish…

'To go against fate to have happiness'

Thump! Thump! Thump!

Smiling encouragingly while rubbing his neck slightly worried

[Luo'ze someone is here for you…]

Luo Feng could only nod at Yang Cai...his eyes void of any emotions, hiding them behind a strong wall and preventing any weaknesses to be exposed to everyone, even the dearest of friends.

Calmly speaking and handing the papers with a giant 'declined' stamp on it...

[Luo Feng, I am very sorry to inform you that your grandmother cannot have a funeral service due to insufficient funding. I express my condolences for your loss, but all we can do is cremate her body for a smaller fee, for you to be able to keep her ashes or we would be forced to dispose of the body.]

Looking down he doesn't have anything anymore...much less money to pay for it.

[I would pay for the cremation, it's the least I could do…]

[All right then, the ashes would be delivered in a week. Thank you for your time and my deepest condolences.]

Xxx

Looking up confused and slightly pained...

[Aunty...why did you say you would pay? I don't have anything and I'm just a burden to you, uncle and Yang'er….]

Cutting him off with a smile and an understanding look…

[You and your Ahma are also part of our family...as I said, it's just the least we could do with our money.]

Bowing on the ground to Yang Cai's family he could only let out

[I thank your family for taking me in and paying for my Ahma's cremation. I sincerely thank you and will as much as possible not burden you for long…]

Yang Cai was flustered seeing his friend on the ground bowing formally and respectfully and helped him up…

[You are and will always be my first and closest friend...you are no burden, just try to smile once in a while. I missed when you laughed and smiled more.]

For only that moment he thought that...maybe Yang Cai was just a blessing after all of his misfortune. He had a chance...he needed to find the killer and get stronger. Maybe this system would help him get the happiness that he craved. He just needed to master it and maybe...just maybe he could even fight against the thread of fate that has been planned out for him. He first needs to find out….why and who caused this whole problem and took the life of his dear grandmother.
