9 Chapter 1.7 To Change a Life

"I want to start this meeting with a few rules" I started, an important part of any sort of meeting was to start with the rules of the meeting, and by starting the talk I took the initiative as odd as it was to say it was good to take the initiative because it established dominance it was completely factual, by leaving a conversation you looked smarter and more in control two things that people respect and want to have.

"The first is that neither of us will attack the other with physical violence, no matter what the other says, agreed?" He got a short and quick nod from the old mayor, "the second is that both of us will only make promises we can keep, agreed?" Another nod from the man as he pays attention to me.

"Finally, if either of us breaks the contract or our word then the other is able to enact whatever punishment they deem fit." this one was probably the one that might have pushback, but its mainly so that they can feel like they have some sort of power over me.

"Very well, however, we will not be doing the meeting here, the real meeting will begin in the town hall, I merely decided it would be pertinent to bring you there myself." The amused look on the mayor's face made a small pang of embarrassment run through me as I realized I hadn't even given him the chance to speak since he woke me up.

He led me through the village past the poor area to the "rich" area of town. I use quotation marks there because in most places like one of the lower hidden villages this place would barely qualify for lower-middle-class, at this area was a large wooden building with a circular roof and those little shingle things that most houses back then had, it was definitely the town hall, and he totally didn't just know that because of the large sign that says "Town Hall" over the entrance.

I walked inside to find a small circle of adults in wooden chairs all-around a central podium where I suppose either I or the mayor am supposed to sit, turning to the mayor with a questioning look he pushes me gently towards the podium where I reluctantly get on a small step stool to look at all the people sitting down.

"Alright now that we are all here, I call this meeting into session, the subject today is the proposed exchange between our village and the newcomer Bishamonten, shortened to Bisha for the duration of this meeting and the foreseeable future. We shall start by hearing Bisha's offer then we will one by one place objections or propose changes, Bisha has seen to it that three rules be agreed upon before we begin, the first that none shall attack the other with physical violence no matter what is said, the second being we will both uphold anything we agree to under this, and the third being that if either participant breaks the deal the other can exact the punishment they desire on the other. It is to be stated that very few of these agreements that will be made here will be between the village as a whole and Bisha, only a handful of them, however these rules, if agreed upon, will affect every deal between Bisha and another villager, is all of this information understood?"

A small chorus of whispers runs through the room before nods of agreement happen a signal they understand.

"Very well, all in favor of agreeing to these terms say Aye" he continues as many people echoed him with their hands up.

"All against raise your hands and say Nay" a similar but noticeably smaller amount raise their hands this time, allowing me to see the people who disagreed and keep tabs on them, hopefully at least.

"Motion carried, moving on with the meeting it is now Bisha's turn to propose his trade, Bisha if you would kindly begin." with that he gave it over to me and I looked out over the many people, a sudden ball in my throat as the nervousness built in me, I was about to speak to an entire village of people…

But as I did I once again remembered my past, sitting in front of multiple people all looking at me all of them I knew, all looking ready for another day, and a calm feeling flows through me as my tense body loosens, leaning on instinct he shakes his head.

"Good evening village of Wakaimura, my codename is Bishamonten, although you have just been briefed, I am here for a simple proposal, I will make your village self sufficient without the need for money and strong enough to fight any bandits that may come in exchange for lending me a place to stay for my time here and any books I desire from your stock."

Yup this was my plan, I can stay for a month or two to teach some of the younger and older ones to hunt the Chakra beasts while I lounge around and read as many books to let me practice my jutsu as I want, I both help them out of their sticky situation and get some much needed time to train in a safe environment.

However it seems many of them are still confused by my offer, but look to be more intrigued, so I continued.

"Now I will not explain in full detail my plan, but I can give you the basics, I will unlock the Chakra of the children and a few of the adults, then teach them a few basic Ninjutsu and some very basic fighting advice before showing them how to use that in an actual fight by hunting chakra beasts, after that, I will teach them how to make the skin of the boar into a coat, because of the chakra properties of the cloak these cloaks will have different effects, with all of this, you should be fully self-sufficient, especially as the years go on and every child is taught to hunt like this, meaning you all should also know how to fight any bandits that come and try to take the stuff you get."

He could see a few actually drooling at his request which, while gross, definitely showed how enticing his offer was to these people.

However no sooner had the mayor given the floor to questions had three hands raised, one by a man and two by a few older women.

The man was clearly younger, maybe around 27, he had a lean frame and strong Triceps, the first woman was almost the exact opposite with a wrinkled face and graying hair she looked to be in her 60s with basic clothes indicating she is a mother as her concerned face practically screamed what she was thinking, the last woman merely looked around 30 to 40 and had blond hair a simple ponytail she let flow behind her with clothes that indicated she was a much wealthier woman to be dressing in a dress like she currently is.

Thinking it best to get it over with quickly he points to the older woman who quickly asks "By your own words does that mean that our children will be out there fighting the beasts like that one you drug inside? Even if they have an adult with them I don't exactly feel comfortable with it."

As she spoke a few eyes widened in realization, and they looked at me carefully, "you are correct ma'am, however, they will also be specifically trained for the task and will have training with Ninjutsu, now I know that many of you will be thinking that it won't make that much of a difference, but allow me a quick demonstration of what Ninjutsu will actually be able to do" With that he pulled out of his pocket a pebble.

"A simple pebble you see, nothing special about it nothing that would harm anyone" with that he runs through the hand signs, Ram, Ox, and Dragon, "Earth Release: Pebble Shot!"

The snickering of the audience at the name is quickly silenced as the pebble shoots out of his hand, bashing into the wooden wall and leaving a small dent in it.

"This isn't even a strong Ninjutsu, and the ones that I'm going to teach your kids are ones that will be incorporated into their actual fighting style, along with that there will be multiple children and an adult there whereas I only had myself. So to assuage your fears I can guarantee your children will most likely be fine."

While she didn't fully accept the explanation, everyone else most certainly did, and in the end, I didn't need acceptance from one person but permission from the majority of people.

The next person to go was the young man, who stood up and spoke in a very loud voice that spoke of much training, "You say it will be children and adults, but who are these adults, and what about people like myself who are already hunters for this village? Are we supposed to just have our jobs taken?"

He sounded slightly angry but mostly calm which was nice, and I thought carefully before speaking next, I had honestly not thought about the people already there, but it actually made the job easier, "Well I need at least four adult hunters, so why would I use bums from the street if I don't have to? No, instead I will teach any hunters the village has, then I will look into other people if I don't have enough from the hunters already here."

That was all complete bullshit, I had indeed originally planned to look through the homeless bums of the town, then pick the four I felt the best about and roll with it, but they didn't need to know that and I sure as hell wasn't about to break the news to them.

With a nod, the hunter sat down and I turned to the final woman who was looking patiently as I gesture for her to go, she stands up slowly before getting to her question.

"There are around 32 children in this village, do you honestly believe that you can train all of them Ninjutsu, fighting, hunting, and how to make this fancy coat all before we starve from lack of food? I think the plan is foolish enough with us relying on children for hunting, but to believe that you can do it in such little time is ridiculous."

In contrast to the rest of her, her voice is snooty and brat-like, as she belittles me almost literally looking down on me if it wasn't for the step stool I was on.

But I had to keep my cool so I merely smiled "Of course, I do ma'am, in fact, I'll teach these kids all they need to know in a month, when I'm done with them they'll be able to hunt those boars without Interference!" The confidence in my voice showing how intent I was on that.

However as I finished speaking a small smile spread over her lips as she looked smugly at me, "Are you sure enough to make a bet on it?"

It immediately clicks in my head what she's doing, trying to play on a child's confidence to get the upper hand in negotiation.

So of course I accept.

Sure I know that she's trying to play me but I have something she doesn't, a bullshit teaching skill that makes me awesome at teaching people shit, I'm sure a month, chakra, and good diets will make them completely ready!

"Most certainly, hell I'll make the bet for ya, if I do it, then I get to take the original blueprint with me and you guys keep only a copy," I said with a smug grin.

"Very well but if you can't you have to stay and teach every person in this village that wants to learn for a yea,r" now this is an interesting plan, I'm sure she would make me teach a shit ton of people…

"I'll be fine with it, but that's up to you all in the end, and you haven't even agreed to my terms yet, so maybe you should wait on that." the same smug grin on me as I told her that, the fool may have thought that she lured me but it was the other way around, it was I that lured you!

With that, the rest of the meeting went fairly simply, and I was off to meet my first somewhat long-term students, what hell of a life this would be…

A fun one at that.
