6 The line is scarier than Rabid Dogs

A couple of miles away, north from the field was a forest. Deep in that forest, a man was being chased by 5 Rabid Dogs. These Rabid Dogs, however, were a lot bigger. Their fur had a tinge of brownish-red while still retaining it's previously gray wolf-like, look.

The man being chased by these monsters is still Devin. But, contrary to what most of us would expect of him. Devin had a confident smirk on his face. Something that wasn't seen the previous time that he was chased by a wolf.

On his way, there was a huge tree to which he immediately started turning around on. He then activated his skills <Haste> and <Lethality> and started hacking away with his dagger at the Rabid Dog who was at the very back of the pack. As he attacked, the direction of where the Rabid Dogs was spinning changed. Thus, Devin made a sharp run and once again attacked the Rabid Dog who was last in line. Devin continued this up until he was left with only a single Rabid Dog left which he took care after using a combination of his skills via using a rotation. After they died he quickly started grabbing the loot and putting it on his inventory.

Devin had skillfully kited out Elite Rabid Dogs on an area that was quite a distance away from the village. Unfortunately, this idea of kitting them around a tree wasn't original as he saw others doing it, but with a party which he copied but with alterations as he didn't have a party to which he somehow managed to replace by using the skills that he bought.

This was the 3rd time that he did the same kind of thing so he was getting the hang of it. He saw that his EXP bar was about to reach the end and decided that he would do this one more time. Sadly, due to the long cooldown of his skills, he could only wait for a moment and stay still to recuperate the HP and MP that he lost on the fight. He also learned this when he listened in to others when he noticed that they were all sitting down on the ground. He didn't know that he would also recover his MP that way so it was quite a surprise for him.

After once again doing the same rotation, he received continuous notifications, the first was about him leveling up, the other ones were the fact that he managed to level up the skills by using them continuously. After looking at his skills, he was quite surprised to see that their cooldowns went down. Despite it only being 5 minutes, it still helps as he would be able to hunt more efficiently with lesser cooldowns.

Skills:

<Haste> (Beginner Level: 1. Cooldown: 55 minutes. Cost: 5 MP)

<Protect> (Beginner Level: 1. Cooldown: 55 minutes. Cost: 5 MP)

<Leap> (Beginner Level: 1. Cooldown: 25 minutes. Cost: 10 MP)

<Lethality> (Beginner Level: 1. Cooldown 1 hour, 55 minutes. Cost 15 MP)

<Resolve> (Beginner Level: 1. Cooldown 1 hour, 55 minutes. Cost 15 MP)

While he was looking at his Skills, he also noticed the fact that despite killing more than 5 Monsters, the quest asking him to slay 5 of them was still at 0/5. This frustrated him as he started to once again read the quest itself and try to make sense of what was happening.

<Quest Log: Recently the miasma has affected the nearby wild dogs and has transformed them into monsters called Rabid Dogs. These monsters are now attacking the fields on the village and are preventing farmers to tend to their crops. To once again maintain the peace, slay 5 Rabid dogs that are attacking the fields.>

After reading it for two more times, it finally hit him. The monsters needed to be recognized by the system as Rabid Dogs attacking the fields. If not, then they won't be counted. At least, that's what it appears to be as of now. Thinking about it caused Devin to make a heavy sigh.

"Well, at least I've leveled up and quite some time has passed. I think the fields would now be a bit more bearable."

Looking at the sky, he saw that it was now slowly turning dark.

"I guess I better start heading back."

When he arrived back at the fields he saw that there were a bit fewer users but still, there were still a lot of them. Seeing that it can't be helped he opted for going back on the cramped hunting grounds when he noticed that due to his competitors being low level, he could easily steal some kills as he has higher stats.

Which caused him to quickly get the 5 kills required to finish the quest. He then went back towards the Village head which now had a line that's not that long but also wasn't that short. Regardless, he had no choice but to follow suit and as he completed the quest he received 50 EXP and 50 Beginner's Village Reputation Points.

"Thank you for killing those Rabid Dogs, however, due to the miasma seeping out of the forest, I'm afraid that those vile creatures would return and once again destroy the fields. My alchemist friend from the city once told me that he had once crafted a potion that could ward off certain monsters from attacking. Can you once again help me?"

Devin quickly accepted the chain quest which required him to get 10 pieces of a Rabid Dog's blood and another 10 for a strand of their fur. Now, as he received this quest, he surprisingly saw that he already had 10 of them due to him collecting their drops from hunting in the forest. He then took it out from his inventory and presented it to the village head to which has cleared his quest. As a reward, he gained 200 EXP and 50 copper and an additional 100 Beginner's Village Reputation Points.

"Good heavens, that was quick, thank you, young lad! Unfortunately, my alchemist friend is still in the city, and at the moment I can't leave the village like this. Can you give this to the Village Guard Sam and give him this letter?"

Taking the letter from the Village Head, Devin now went back to the inn where he saw Village Guard Sam and the long line to talk to him. Disappointed, he still followed the line as he could still remember how the majority of the people in line would quickly bring out their weapons to those who try to cut through.
