8 Who do you say is loitering!?

The following day, Claude went to school as usual.

Surprisingly, everyone, at least those whom he discussed with yesterday, politely greeted him as he worked.

Although it felt weird, Claude simply shrugged it off and continued working. Obviously, it would be pointless for him to continue working as a janitor given that he is already a 4th-Rank Mage.

However, this was the only type of profession where he can be low-key. Furthermore, the pay is good as it can pay for his daily essentials.

As a person from the modern-world, he doesn't like conflict that much. One could even say that he detest it. So being a tiny inconspicuous janitor is a dream job for him who wants to stay low-key.

Soon, the school bell rang and everyone ran towards the cafeteria. Naturally, Claude followed-suit as well. Unlike Essence Practitioners who feed on the essence of the world, Mages still need to eat.

"Mister Janitor, here!" In a large table, a group of people sat and called for Claude.

Naturally, those people were Vaun, Luna, Riyah, and two new faces.

One of the two new faces had bruises all over his face and his eyes looked vacant, he also looked a bit malnourished.

After ordering his food, he went to their table and sat down alongside them.

"This is..." Frey said.

"It's the Senior we were taking about," Deimos said in a hushed tone.

Frey's eyes turned wide and was about to say something before he was stopped.

"Don't. The four of us speculated that, the reason Senior is working as a janitor is because he wants to stay low-key. If you reveal it to everyone now, the Senior might get angry and kill you." Deimos quickly said, "Think about it, if not for being low-key, would the Senior work as an inconspicuous janitor?"

Upon hearing this, Frey thought it was logical, so he tried his best to keep quiet. But deep inside, he can't contain his excitement.

This Senior is a high ranking Mage after all.

Claude was oblivious about their awe towards him, so to ease the awkwardness, he asked, "By the way, how much have you guys comprehended after we discussed yesterday?"

Yesterday they discussed about magic formulas and the likes. Naturally, he was curious about their progress. Given that they are geniuses, they should've comprehended a lot.

"Oh, about that..." Vaun smiled awkwardly and proceeded tk explain, "Apart from Riyah and Deimos, all of us had only comprehended the tip. That's because the Senior's magic formulas are too complex to learn quickly, even with Senior's simplified explanations."

Claude froze.

Complex?

Aren't these guys geniuses?

Why can't they even comprehend such a simple magic formula?

Does the word 'Genius' have a different meaning in this world?

Claude's dissatisfaction aren't unfounded. After all, he already over simplified the magic formulas from the Intermediate Magic knowledge before explaining it to them

If they can't even comprehend such simple magic formulas, aren't they no better than trash?

Noticing Claude's expressions, everyone felt so embarrassed that they want to dig a whole. The Senior had already simplified the magic formulas yet they only understood the tip.

No wonder they lost to the students of Aizen's Imperial Magic Academy.

After a long while, Claude shook his hands and said, "No worries. Everyone starts somewhere. It's normal for you to only comprehend a tip." He paused, and with a reminiscing tone, he continued, "You know, when I first became a Mage, I took a full half a day to comprehend Intermediate Magic."

Everyone felt relieved at first, but then they heard the last sentence.

You took a full half a day to comprehend Intermediate Magic!?

Why do you say it as though it's a long amount of time!?

And why does your tone sound as if you're still dissatisfied?

All their minds buzzed simultaneously. They really can't understand the mind of their Senior.

...

When he was done eating, Claude didn't start working immediately. Instead, he went to the back of the school to relax.

The Myriad Kingdom's Magic School is built in front of a mountain, so, when looked from afar, the school looks very majestic.

Utilizing wind magic, Claude quickly arrived at the back of the school. He had long wanted to watch the view of River City from atop, however, he didn't have any magic back then.

It's just that...

"Why is there a hut here? Is someone loitering around here? Why doesn't the school do anything about this?" When he arrived, he quickly found a hut located at the foot of the mountain.

Truth be told, the hut looked very shabby. It looks as though it would break down at any time. But Claude didn't care about that.

What he cared about was who would be so daring to loiter around here.

One should know that this is still within the scope of Myriad Kingdom's Magic School. Although the school isn't the most powerful, it still has a 4th-Rank Mage as a Principal.

At this moment, he hears an enraged roar, "Who do you say is loitering!?"

Claude felt danger, so quickly reacted and unconsciously dodged to the side using wind magic

In almost an instant, dozens of sharp spike were erected at the area where he was at.

His eyes narrowed and looked at the blurry figure, "This is... a 5th-Ranked Mage?"
