4 The escape

After the male puppet became useless to him, Mark could only rely on the girl dressed yellow.

She had long black hairs and some eye-catching curves. Her eyes were light-green, and her skin was pale.

In fear that the female puppet would suffer the same end of the male one, Merlin immediately concentrated on using his mental power to the limit.

As so, his pill body began to emit a whitish fog as it became ethereal. Then with a leap, the white mist entered through the puppet's forehead.

Inside, Mark encountered a dark space. Yet, a green glow was coming right from the middle of that strange space. It was a complex-looking seal!

Now that he made all his way there, Mark decided he would not back off. In a strong impulse, his misty form advanced in the seal's direction with incredible momentum.

In a flash, the white mist engulfed the green seal. However, contrary to Mark's worries, it only took his mist form a split second to extinguish the mysterious green seal.

The moment after its destruction, Mark felt his mist form expand! And then, in a flash, the puppet's eyes opened up.

At first, Mark could only move his eyes around. Yet, some seconds after the possession of his new vessel, he began to feel his limbs.

And it was at that moment Puppet Godfather suddenly became empty-head for a split second. Immediately, he turned his head in the puppet's direction.

"The puppet..."

Yet, before he could voice his thought, he was hit flying by a black scale-filled fist.

The demonic man had used that split second of distraction to land a direct attack on the puppet man.

"Do you take me for a fool to fall for such cheap tricks?"

As he said so, the demonic man launched a chain of attacks. The old swordsman also used that opportunity to land some direct sword slashes on the old puppet man.

"YOU FOOLS! AAAHHHH!"

Puppet Godfather shouted, filled with rage. Swinging the four cranes crazily, he managed to stabilize himself.

Yet, he already knew something was not right. As such, he split a portion of his spiritual sense to search his surroundings as he fought for his life.

However, as Mark was finally getting used to his new body, he noticed from afar that the puppet had caught the puppet man's attention.

Seeing that the duo was holding him down with fierce attacks, Mark began descending the cave slowly.

But seconds later, Puppet Godfather shout once more.

"THE PILL! THE PILL, YOU FOOLS! It has gained consciousness and possessed the fleeing puppet!!"

Having heard so, Mark gave up on his sneaky escape and began to run at full speed down the cave.

Impressively, after he took a vessel, the expenditure of his mysterious mental energy lessened significantly.

When the attacking duo heard Puppet Godfather's shout, they subconsciously looked back. What they saw was a yellow dressed girl quickly escaping down the cave.

"Catch it! Don't let it escape! That's our immortality walking away just under our noses!"

As Puppet Godfather said so, he had already jumped upon his giant green puppet. In a leap, it jumped above his two opponents and began chasing the yellow-dressed girl down the cave.

The other two did not take long before they reacted similarly. The old swordsman immediately summoned back his swords and jumped on them. In an azure flash, he crazily followed behind the giant green puppet.

As for the demonic man, his black banner suddenly flew down. Then, it wrapped itself around the Yin Clan man. Therefore, it transformed into a large purple ball of smoke. Following the other two, it began to fly rapidly in the yellow dressed girl's direction.

Meanwhile, Mark looked back as he escaped, only to see the three furious men chasing him down. In a panicked manner, he began to exhaust his mental energy more intensely.

As he did so, the surrounding shadows began to fly in his direction. Next thing he knew, his puppet body was surfing on a wave of darkness down the cave.

"Attack it! Back then, when I refined that puppet, I used a piece of Nether Dark Stone! If that sentient pill discovered how to use its properties and hides, we're doomed!"

Saying so, the green giant suddenly grew multiple green spikes from its moving body. Then, with a swing, they were all sent flying in the girl's direction at extreme speed.

Although Mark could not understand a thing the puppet man said, he could feel it's hostility towards him.

Then, with a zig-zag movement, he luckily dodged the incoming green spikes. Yet, in the incoming seconds, multiple balls of purple fire and azure slashes came in his direction.

In such a peril situation, Mark could only close his eyes and madly burn the remaining half of his mental energy.

As he did that act of desperation, the shadows below his feet seemed to expand into a giant wall of darkness, covering up his exposed back.

The moment the attacks came in contact with it, the black wall exploded into a messy dark fog.

With the explosion's boost, Mark's body abruptly flew a thousand feet ahead.

Seizing that opportunity, Mark search in all directions for a viable path to escape through. But no matter where he looked at as he flew, he only saw dark stone walls.

Yet, the moment all his hopes extinguished, and his three pursuers were about to exit the dark fog behind him, something appeared in his sight.

It was a bright white circle! It had some strange carvings inside and twelve shiny stones all around it.

The moment he saw that shiny circle, relief filled Mark's heart. Although he was not 100% sure, from his previous experiences with those old wuxia novels, that circle was pretty much a teleportation array or something like that.

Then, with his remaining energies, Mark rushed to the bright circle.

At the same moment, his three pursuers came out from the black mist.

Yet, the moment Puppet Godfather saw where the girl was heading for panic took his face.

"Stop him! That a Myriad Mile Random Teleportation Array! If it uses it, we will never see it again!"

However, no matter what mystical abilities they used, the puppet girl was already to close to the array.

Indeed, at that moment, Mark was already stepping on the mysterious array. Then, the instant it detected his presence, it began to shine in a golden luster.

"How did that array appear out of nowhere!? Was it triggered when I touched the skeleton!?"

However, it was already too late to catch the escaping puppet girl. Who would have thought that the Primordial Soul Pill would gain consciousness after thousands of years in that place?

Yet, with a bit of hesitation, Puppet Godfather spat out a ball of bright-red blood. He made an instantaneous hand-seal and poked it. The next second, it transformed into a mysterious-looking symbol.

With a blink of his eyes, a faint green line exited his forehead and entered it.

Afterward, the blood symbol flew in a flash in the puppet girl's direction in the middle of the activating array.

As Mark was in the middle of the shining array, he only saw a fist-sized ball fly in his direction and enter his chest. Yet, in the next second, an explosion of light filled the cave.

Seconds later, after the bright light died down, the puppet girl was nowhere to be seen.

As for the three cultivators, they just stood there in silence, gazing at the teleportation array.

And if one looked closely, they would observe that Puppet Godfather was very pale at the moment.

"Then I guess that's it, fellow daoists. Now that there is no more pill, is there a need to fight to the death?"

Hearing so, the demonic man just snorted and continued down the cave.

"Next time I meat you two old ghosts, you will not be so lucky!"

The old swordsman did not even say anything. He just summoned his swords, fused them into an azure lotus, and flew down the cave on it.

As the Puppet Godfather, he just stood there together with his giant green puppet. After the other two had disappeared, he closed his eyes in the dark.

Nobody knew what he was thinking.
