14 Three tons of trouble

"I sure as hell want to check them out," William agreed.

Afterwards he thought, "I have enough points anyway, so why not?"

Right before the system could list down the new options, this entire platoon was struck with something painfully unexpected.

A loud holler broke out from one side of this expansive tunnel, and at first it was difficult for most to understand what went on.

But another similar echo helped them pay more attention, eventually they figured out what this odd situation developed towards.

Some odd creatures grunted and screamed as they chased after the platoon, such attitude surely helped these animals make their presence transparent.

Their vocal strength was tremendously deep as well, they could shake the very souls of anyone present!

"Bears!" An army man finally shouted.

As the massive group of snakes submerged deep in panic, the platoon general was swift to scream out a few commands.

"Battle poses, men! Remember your battle poses! Guard the healers!" He pressured through a thick tone.

And afterwards, his focus darted towards the same people who should be protected. It was apparent that these ladies knew what to expect from the general, they just needed a command to get themselves going.

"Get the injured men out of here," He finally shouted.

After such a demand was clear, these women proved quick on their feet. Some healers even carried the most wounded soldiers, right on their backs! Undoubtedly, their efforts were wholehearted.

"Hold on tight," Olivia encouraged.

She swiftly tied her arms around William's thighs, and after one squat he was lifted up high, almost effortlessly.

After he was thrown above the other's shoulder, the good healer made a dash for it. She followed the crowd as best as she could, but it was difficult to keep a sense of orientation now, everyone was still in panic.

"Healers head right! Right!" She heard a soldier shout from the top of his lungs.

Since such a path was desperately encouraged, the lady could only follow along, it was the best idea to do so!

In a matter of moments, she noticed that above thirty men had lined up close to one another. They made a long wall, and behaved like shields, just so they could protect the healers.

This procedure helped attain a great sense of direction, it helped understand that the platoon had been split in two pieces.

The smaller chunk of soldiers guarded the healers, while the bigger pile tried to handle this dire situation!

It was difficult to understand how many bears attacked them, in this chaos it wasn't easy to count the enemies.

But yet, nearly one-hundred pairs of arms worked against these beasts, so surely the platoon didn't deal with just one or two opposers.

Before that dilemma alone could have been comprehended, another dark shade of this storm made itself apparent.

"We've got runaway bears!" A soldier shouted.

This man was supposed to guard the healers and the injured soldiers as well, he intended to do exactly so!

That was why he encouraged, "Tight circle, tight circle!"

Although he was not the commander, the group heeded his word and gathered everyone closer, just so they could surround the vulnerable group.

As for the random soldier who helped organize this mess, he charged towards the five big bears which approached the circle.

It seemed that these enemies had somehow slipped away from the bigger side of this platoon, these creatures carried trouble as their second name!

Their aim was transparent, but that one brave man didn't plan to let these enemies progress, no.

"In the name of king Kantemos!" That same stubborn soldier shouted.

A few of the soldiers recognized his hot-headed effort, so they followed him to provide some support, yet they were still too sloppy!

The man in question had already reached these enemies, and his two-meter long sword aimed to deliver its owner's attitude!

"Eat this!" He shouted.

This brave soldier swung right against one of the closest bears, and struck this big animal right across its furry shoulder!

In an instant he pulled that sword back, and this time he swung downwards as if he handled a big, rusty hammer.

Through that effort, he slashed this grunting bastard right against its head!

Thanks to such a grand flow of adrenaline, he shouted. "Haha!"

The prior swing was beyond successful, this three-ton bear painted itself on the ground right away!

But before this victory could have been celebrated, this brave soldier felt a sharp pain right below his ribs.

Before that wound could have been checked out, he crashed to the ground and instantly felt immobile.

"Guess this is it, at least I'll die with honour." The soldier mumbled.

Afterwards he saw how a big-clawed paw smashed down near him, the enemy's leg was thicker than both of this man's thighs combined!

While this brave soul gazed at the other's massive limb, he could hear a few battle shouts from his comrades; noticeably, they wanted to bail him out of trouble.

But that didn't quite matter now, this same brown bear swiped across the other's face, just to make a point!

A brave soul fell now and for eternity, but it was hard to figure out if that sacrifice was worth it.

Maybe he could have had a chance to live longer, especially if these runaway bears faced off against several men?

Regardless of the odds and ends, this brutal fall helped everyone understand that this situation was beyond dire!

The few men who followed the hot-headed soldier, finally clashed against these runaways. They were late to save one comrade, but perhaps they could save the others?

Anyway, while those soldiers tried to tame one portion of the dilemma, the situation took another ugly turn!

And this time, the problem developed from another corner of the battlegrounds, so It took a while until these spooked snakes became aware of it.

One well-observant soldier finally noticed the problem, and he wanted to be efficient against it.

That was why his tone reverberated thickly, as he warned. "More bears from the left! Circle, brace yourself!"

That sentence wasn't the most specific, but it did help a few understand the upcoming danger.

Everyone felt alarmed once they realised a sour fact, this new group of bears were not loose runaways, no. In fact, they belonged to an entire new wave of enemies!

Necessarily, it meant that this tide was bigger in comparison, the naked eye could capture at least thirty bears in this group!

And these beasts were beyond lethal, uncharacteristically even. Bears were known to fight for their food, but this situation felt beyond the ordinary, it felt as if they locked the snakezoids as a prime target!

A group of several men from the circle wanted to face these enemies head on, just so they could buy everyone some time.

If this entire platoon had more time, the injured soldiers along with these healers, might have a chance to escape!

But before these men could have left the smaller group, they heard a firm command from a respected figure.

"Don't break the circle!" He shouted.

He was none other than general Hakoon. Seemingly he had separated from the bigger group, just so he could aid the smaller side!

And this fine man let his presence weigh in, even these monstrous animals were pressured by it!

Simply because once he shouted out that command, the general leaped off the ground and slashed his sword against the opposition!

His contribution was of great aid, especially since he sliced one of the runaway bears.

Decapitation was inevitable, the few who paid attention, saw how this wretched animal's head rolled across the muddy ground!

With that same speed and agility, he slashed another bear across the neck, and then he dashed towards the bigger tide of enemies!

That small group of runaway bears which attacked earlier, met with their end by now. Likewise, he could drag this handful of soldiers, towards the newly hazardous side of the battlefield!

"Come with me," He shouted.

And then he pressured, "We can't let those bears touch the circle!"

After a matter of moments they clashed with this great wave of enemies, and the results were only as expected.

Most of these men were swiftly slashed to their doom, they died by the paws of these monstrous animals!

"Back up! I need back up!" General Hakoon shouted.

He expected help from the bigger portion of the platoon, but noticed that they had not heard his command.

Afterwards he peeked at the great brown bears in front of him, they counted over twenty in number. Clearly, these creatures could not be easily opposed.

"I've had enough of this," The general mumbled.

Afterwards he put in some effort to transform into his snake-like form!

His arms turned twice as thick, and they were encumbered by a dark-green skin colour. The same man's chest and the rest of his body, puffed up at an equal pace.

Just a blink after, his shoulder pads popped off. They flew a couple of feet high, and landed right near his ripped iron breeches.

What was left of his armour had been pushed to its limit, as the man in between it, grew beyond the boundaries which some iron could retain!

Regardless of this tough constriction, Hakoon was still mobile enough to push his plans forward.

One of these bears stood up on its hind legs at that very moment, it straightened up as if it was a person! Now, these snakes understood how massive these creatures truly were.

The naked eye could calculate that these monsters were around fifteen feet tall, once they stood up!

Regardless of that wild fact, the general wasn't scared away and nearly didn't aim to halt.

This fine man curled his six-foot long tail underneath his lower waist. Afterwards he used this same tail as a spring, just to pounce towards the closest bear!

His sharp claws dug against the enemy's fur, right around the neck, but he used that grip just so he could leap higher!

Hakoon forced himself up, and eventually got right on top of the bear's head.

At that moment, he slid the very tip of his long tail across the enemy's neck!

Blood puked out all across the ground, and this massive bear was swift to crash down afterwards.

Hakoon didn't fall along with it, he pounced towards another opponent which was close by, but also understood that his efforts were not enough.

Specifically, since more than half of these enemies charged right towards the vulnerable circle!
