4 Murder, and its odd ends!

It still felt like the whole situation was against William's favour. Sure he had gained a tiny advantage thanks to that marvelous upgrade, but the enemies still stood nine in number.

That fact was more hazardous than one perceived, especially since this battle was one-sided.

But regardless, the young man didn't want to stand idly by. He was up on his feet and felt ready to put up a battle, even though his entire sense and being advised against it.

One of these blue-spined snakes continued to charge towards the boy, it was only a matter of seconds before they met.

William had lost one weapon earlier on, or it was beyond reach now at least. But that didn't quite matter, as he still carried one rusty sword and was ready to test out just how useful it was.

Unlike the past enemy who had its head severed, the current opponent seemed a bit more agile, yet at the same time more berserk!

What helped jump towards that conclusion, was a literal leap from the blue-snake's side. It bounced off the ground, as soon as it got about five meters close to the young man!

This same wretched snakezoid's sword reflected the sun's beams, as the metal itself hovered above its head!

No wise man was required, to figure out that this attacker aimed to land a slash-oriented blow. The large sword that the enemy carried, seemed appropriate for such a purpose.

It would be a bad idea to face this attack head on, common physics advised against it. The enemy was bigger, had more momentum and strength as well.

In all ways possible, William would be crushed like a bug under such circumstances.

"Oh hell no," William mumbled.

It simply seemed too stupid to take any risks under these extreme conditions, the idea itself sounded death assuring.

So instead, the good man simply took the second option that he thought of; it was quite simple, he just moved aside.

And after just a blink of an eye later, the enemy crashed right against the ground!

The stone street itself had been violently shaken, to the point where the brave boy almost lost his balance.

So he waved his arms a few times like a spooked seagull, until he regained his foothold and leaped a couple of steps towards safety.

Afterwards he sighed, "Pewww!"

And a moment later he took a quick breath and re-evaluated a few decisions, "Maybe I should try this again, but this time less like a suicidal mosquito."

For that same matter, it seemed reasonable to have a pocket of space that assured a bit of security; one peek at the current scene assured that conclusion.

Since this odd snake was strong enough to leap two meters high a moment ago, the crash against the ground had an equal attitude!

The enemy's two-meter long sword had been nailed against the stone street.

Unsurprisingly the impact had plagued the ground with a meter long line, and the impact forced a lot of tiny stones to fly off in all directions!

That aside, the enemy's momentum actually led to self-inflicted damage!

Such a disaster began, once the enemy's sword was nailed against the ground.

Paired with the fact that this crazed opponent didn't have a firm foothold, all thanks to the speedy momentum he built up, the result was only predictable.

The enemy was forced to flip forward at first, and afterwards he crashed against his own sword!

A deep cut enveloped his shoulder thanks to all of that, it spread right near the neck!

The enemy hurt himself rather badly, that was plain to see; but in this situation, William acknowledged this as an advantage.

So he picked this opponent as a target, and took a few quick steps forward. There was only a single sword on the young man's hand right now, and he whistled it through the air without hesitation!

Likewise, he slashed that short bit of metal right against the enemy snakezoid's back!

The slash didn't seem as deadly, especially in comparison to what any of these blue-spined snakes could deliver; but this attack surely helped attain an advantage in this battle!

As this cut across the spine was just enough to take this crazed opponent's life!

A pool of blood was quick to spread, these snakes seem to carry a lot of blood regardless of a cut's depth.

It was odd for sure, but the system helped derive attention from this scene. The fine lady in William's head was quick to voice out a few notifications.

[Blue-spined snakezoid killed, four-hundred system points have been given to you as a reward]

[You currently have a total of six-hundred and twenty system points]

With that many points available, it seemed like a good idea to acquire another upgrade, especially under these dangerous circumstances.

So he had to question, "What other things can I buy with all of these points?"

[You can currently buy one more primary upgrade,]

"Which is...?" He pressured.

The young snakezoid felt beyond nervous, especially after he noticed that the civilians thinned in number. Which was why it seemed absolutely necessary to hurry things up a little bit.

[Purchase option number-two = Upgrade bodily durability to level one]

[Price = One-hundred and ten system points]

The hero felt absolutely convinced that durability could come in handy in this dilemma, so he was ready to buy such an upgrade.

Yet he got distracted by one of these psychopathic blue-snakes, who shouted. "The golden fangs will once and for all belong to our king, the rest of you are just on our way!"

It seemed oddly uncharacteristic to hear a full sentence from these savages, so of course it was difficult to follow along with that context.

And at the same time, this situation became even more confusing. Yet regardless, any thought that drifted away from the aims of survival, seemed useless.

It certainly wasn't the best idea to waste time on anything else, so the young man regained his former focus.

It was not that William was willing to kill these creatures, but in this situation, slaughter seemed necessary; even if it bought him just a few more seconds to live.

For that same matter he remembered something important, and decided to instantly put this thought into use.

That was why he let out a demand under his breath, "Upgrade that durability thing right now, system!"

[Confirmed]

At that moment William awaited for a degree of pain to strike his body, but his attention was once more captured by the ongoing battle that stained these streets.

As a random civilian shouted, "The golden fangs belong to the green-tails, they belong to our king!"

That same civilian charged towards one of these brute attackers afterwards, but it was swiftly proven that a battle cry wasn't useful enough here.

In short words, that preachy man met with the devastating edge of an iron sword.

William had no idea what this extensive talk about those golden fangs was about, but neither did he care to figure it out right now.

Within an instant, the young man felt as if thousands of needles attacked every inch of his body; the pain simply burned worse than hell!

It was difficult to process this discomfort, especially since he felt sensorly overwhelmed to the point where he couldn't move!

But one thing remained cooperative with these upgrades; each pain session they brought was simply short-lasting.

Meaning that the boy didn't feel that burning sensation for too long, and the system partially explained why.

Her characteristic voice assured, [Upgrade complete]

[One-hundred and ten system points consumed,]

[Five-hundred and ten system points remaining.]

William felt happy that he was at least a hunch more prepared now, at least in terms of arsenal. But he didn't know how effective this upgrade was, neither did he want to figure out if it could save his life against a strong attack.

But he did recognize that the pain on his foot had reduced once more. The young snakezoid peeked down and noticed that his toe still vomited blood, but the actual pain didn't share the same attitude.

His best guess was that the bodily durability upgrade has toughened up his skin, only that could help make sense out of all of this.

Regardless of the sole reason, it seemed apparent that the disaster wasn't over.

In short words, a group of thirty men rushed towards the scene from the left side of the city.

It was apparent that they would reach this bloodbath in just half a minute. The only question about this matter, was whose side do these men favour?
