I looked doubtfully at the walking trees we were going to hunt. Ok Akame, she hunts to eat later... But this!?!?

- Esdes... I started. - Why would we hunt them?

- М? - The girl gave me a surprised look.

- Well... They're not even edible! - I explained.

- It's obvious you've never hunted. The excitement, the pleasure of catching game... It's a great feeling," Esdes said.

- Mmm..." I said.

In the meantime, the woods had spotted us, and five of them were on the attack. I glanced discreetly at Esdes and saw that she was fully engaged in the fight and not paying much attention to me.

Here she runs into the trees with her rapier, freezing the trees in parallel... Meanwhile, I accelerate to the limit and run into the forest.

After running about a kilometre in just a minute, I felt a large release of ice mana, which spoke of the use of some powerful spell. And indeed, turning around, I saw a huge pillar of ice in the distance, with Esdes herself standing on top of it.

***

- Kaneki!!!!!! - I heard Leone shout joyfully, to my left.

It took me about half an hour to get to the base, burning half of my reserve, which was in no hurry to recover. I'll have to make a fire... I'll feed myself....

- Hi Leone! - I smiled, slightly holding the girl, who was hanging on my neck. - And where are the others?

- Well..." Leone hesitated, unhooking herself from me. - Shelly's in the library as usual... Akame's in the kitchen. Mein and Lubbock are fighting about their teigu in the break room... By the way, the boss went to get the new members! - proclaimed the girl cheerfully.

- How long ago? - I raised an eyebrow. - By the way, nothing strange happened in my absence?

- Strange? - Leone was surprised. - No, no. And the boss went yesterday morning.

At that instant, something clicked in Leone's head, and the girl looked at me with a huge smile. Personally, that smile I oh so didn't like... I could immediately see the bullying that was being prepared....

- By the way... Did you seduce our innocent Akame?

I instantly made a stony face, inwardly shaking with laughter. From Leone's mouth, it sounded much funnier than in my mind.

- I don't know what you mean. - I answered calmly.

- Mm-hmm, mm-hmm. - Leone nodded. - Eh... the damned traitor left me! And how he sang in that tavern when we first met! Beautiful, unimaginable... And now, at every mention of you, Akame blushes, after which she suddenly has "urgent" things to do!

- Even so... - I said thoughtfully. - Okay. It's time to say hello to the others.

***

- Your teigu can't do anything else but shoot!

- And your strings can't tear down a huge building.

- That's because I'm not a petty show-off, I'm a silent assassin.

- You're the small-minded one! All you can do is pull strings!!!!

- And you, just shoot mindlessly!!! You explosive fool!!!!!

- Idiotic puppeteer!!!!!!!!!

- Arrogant flatfoot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

THOUGHTS!

I looked sympathetically at the unconscious Labbuck lying there, with a huge red stain on his forehead. Still, Mein is very... sensitive and testy in that regard. And when one mentions the underdevelopment of her bulges... m'kay.

Leone didn't want to come with me, and headed, with a rather suspicious smile, towards the western part of the shelter, where we had the armoury, library and kitchen... And I think I know where she would go first.

My first order of business was to pay a visit to this couple, Lubbock. The kid's in charge of scouting, so if Stileish was in the neighbourhood, Lubbock should know about it.

I remember in canon, Stileish attacked the day after Najenda left, but now... I've already changed too much. And it's having a tremendous effect on events that I can't so easily predict now.

Lubbock slowly began to rise, after which, another blow was instantly going to be thrown at him. Except I don't want an unconscious carcass.

- I see you're as usual? - I said cheerfully, rather loudly.

Mein instantly turned to me, disbelievingly staring at my face.

- KANEKI!!! - squealed the girl, tearing towards me sharply.

Meanwhile in the Capital City...

A black-haired guy, about 18 years old, was walking down the main street with a smile, leading under his arm a young blonde girl, who was now actively eating the ice cream she had bought. The dark-haired man stopped near a two-storey house, and throwing a brief look of anticipation at the girl, asked:

- Why don't you come round to my place for lunch?

The blonde slyly shot her eyes at the guy, then replied:

- I'd love to!

The couple instantly entered the house. A couple of minutes later, they were already actively pulling off each other's clothes, but in this activity, the guy was clearly in the lead. Leaving only panties on the girl, he himself was still in his trousers. The blonde marvelled at the coolness of the pile of tattoos.

- I've got something for that..." he exhaled languidly into the girl's ear, picking her up and heading into the back of the house.

A dozen seconds later, he was already descending the stairs, apparently to his basement. However, the heated blonde didn't pay much attention to it.

In a rather spacious basement there were dark red walls and floor, but the ceiling had only spots of this paint, which looked quite beautiful. In the centre of the room, stood a stone pedestal, the size of a double bed.

The guy laid the girl in the centre of this cold stone, but the blonde again did not pay attention to it, reaching for the belt of his trousers.

- You know..." he whispered in her ear. - I think it's time to start dinner...

And then the girl screamed in horror. The guy's eyes had a bright red pupil, and his whites were completely black. From behind showed dark red tentacles, with mouths on the ends, which slowly began to float towards the blonde from different sides.

- What's wrong? My lunch shouldn't be this terrifying. Smile! - The guy said cheerfully.

And the next moment, the tentacles gnawed into the girl's legs and sides. And the guy himself at that moment bit into the blonde's neck.

After a while...

The guy turned the page of his informant's report with a clean hand, throwing another piece of the blonde's meat into his mouth in parallel. He was completely satisfied with his life, however, there was still one problem that the guy was currently working on.

He looked at the only photograph he had obtained. It showed a white-haired guy walking next to the legendary General Esdes. On the girl's face was sincere pleasure, but on the guy's face, there was sincere boredom, along with hope for something, visible to the naked eye. Next to them, there was also a couple, consisting of a black-haired guy in a fishing uniform, and a small girl with a bag of biscuits in her hands.

- Kaneki Ken..." he said thoughtfully. - Or no, not like that. Waldemar Blutege. Where are you?

***

- Yeah..." I crouched down beside the unconscious Lubbock, looking reproachfully at Mein.

- Hey! He insulted me! - She shook her finger at the sick man.

- Look, Maine... - I started. - Didn't anything strange happen? Maybe someone in the neighbourhood went round, or Lubbock said something like that?

- М? - the girl was thinking. - 'No, nothing like that... Why do you ask?

- I have a suspicion that the asylum may soon be attacked. - I said thoughtfully, getting up.

- Attack? Who? - surprised Maine.

- There's one cloudy type in Esdes' team... Dr Stilish. A couple of days ago, he went off somewhere, saying something about the Night Raid shelter, and that he'd rise in Esdes's eyes. No one really heard that... except I'm a Ghoul, and my hearing is much better than a human's, too. - I said with a wince.

Lying. Lying again. But what can you do, you can't keep silent about the possibility of an attack either. But to say: "Hela, I come from another world! There they make cartoons about you, in which almost everyone died as a result! And according to the story, we're about to be attacked!", you can't do that either. So...

- But Lubbock didn't notice any of that! Shit, and the boss just left. - almost growled at Mein.

- Calm down... As soon as she wakes up, we'll send to install an additional detection system. - I smiled. - So, tell me, how are you?

- Nothing much. - Maine waved her hand. - Leone gets drunk every day, Akame goes hunting, then cooks and eats... Shelly stays in the library... And this idiot only does what pisses me off.

- Yeah? - I grinned sceptically, glancing at the threader. - I don't see any bumps on him.

- Pfft... He doesn't deserve a bump from my hand. He hasn't earned that honour yet, so I'm not hitting him too hard.

Just then, I heard in the distance the stomping of two men running down the corridor. One's footsteps were much quieter, more like those of a trained assassin. The other was louder and more graceful. Akame and Leone. Oh! There's a third one! It's probably Shelly by now.

- Mmm... - I stretched out - The others are already running this way.

- Huh?" Maine asked.

But I didn't have time to explain. The doors to the room flew open, revealing the girls.

- Kaneki! - I heard Leone's voice. - We've decided to welcome you with a full house.

I turned my head in the direction of the girls, slowly drizzling over Akame. Such a reaction was clearly unprecedented for me, and it perplexed me. I clearly hadn't experienced this before... Strange.

- Hello. - I waved my hand with a smile.

- Hi. - Shelly replied. Akame mumbled something as well, her eyes downcast.

Leone, on the other hand, was burning with joy and excitement.

- Mein... Shelly..." the metamorph began. - I need your help with something... Can you help me?

The emophone of both girls immediately flared with understanding, embarrassment and joy, and they nodded. Leone, meanwhile, grabbed the still unconscious Lubbock by the scruff of the neck and dragged him out.

As soon as the door slammed shut, I immediately scanned the emophones... and my hunch was confirmed. The whole trio was huddled tightly under the door, clearly not going anywhere.

- Good to see you. - I said, stepping closer to Akame.

- It's good to see you too. Are you okay? - The girl was immediately worried, also coming closer.

- I'm fine. - I smiled softly.

We're standing almost right next to each other. I kiss the girl softly, monitoring her reaction to it. If you're not ready yet, I'm willing to wait. However, Akame responded by wrapping her arms around my neck.

***

I looked around at the carcasses lying in the chairs and couches. Drunk, sleeping carcasses. As soon as Lubbock woke up (it was already nearing evening), Leone had dramatically lit up with the desire to throw a booze party in honour of my return. And... here.

I looked warmly at the sleeping Akame lying on my lap, resting her head on my shoulder. At the end of the drink, she had grown bolder and moved into my lap, which pleased me.

I actually fell asleep myself, but Leone, who had woken up and had gone outside to fetch water, woke me up. This time, I didn't manage to get as drunk as last time. More precisely, now there was no effect at all.

I wonder what it depends on? The type of alcohol? It must be about 3 o'clock now... deep night... Oh... Sleep.....

I gently lifted Akame up, laying her down in her seat, while I went to get Leone. Something felt like talking...

The girl was near the well. I yawned and came closer.

- I see you can't sleep either? - I heard Leone's question.

- Mm-hmm. - I nodded, standing beside the girl and drawing water into a special mug. A second later, however, I remembered my unpleasant peculiarity, and then sadly poured the water back into the well.

Leone gave a sigh of relief from drinking the mug of water, and then turned around, leaning against the side of the well.

- Wow..." she grinned, watching the stars. - You and Akame. You two make a really nice couple, though.

- Thanks. - I chuckled.

- No, really. I really think so. - and after a moment of silence, Leone continued. - Take care of her, Kaneki. After all, in this war...

- No. I interrupted her abruptly. The thought made me extremely angry. - I will kill anyone who dares try to harm her.

- Have you ever wondered what Akame used to do? After all the people she's killed. I'm not trying to pick a fight with you, not at all! I'm just wondering.

- What's there to wonder about? - I grinned. - I've killed a lot of people, too. And even sometimes just for fun. So..." I shrugged.

- I see... - Leone said thoughtfully. - Tell me... and Esdes... What is she like? Did she really fall in love with you?

- Mmm... - I stretched out - She's a sadist. Heh. - I cheered up. - She's a good match for me, too. Yeah, Esdes really fell in love with me... and you know... in talking to me, it was like she was a different person. Gentle, modest.

- Don't fall in love with her! - Leone chuckled merrily. - Otherwise, you'll have a problem! Which side to take.

- And the harem? - I smirked.

- Heh-heh-heh...

And then, I felt some mana stirring behind me. Turning round, I saw a knife flying a millimetre from my face. I had no time to catch or dodge it, so I summoned a Blutege, drawing it towards the guy climbing out of the water.

Gritting my teeth in pain, I pulled a rather large knife out of his eye, which began to regenerate almost instantly.

- 'Leone...' I hissed. - Run... wake up the others... we're under attack....
