5 Chapter 5: A serious injury

Chapter 5: A Serious Injury

A tall man was standing in front of Prometheus. He had purple red hair, and under his chin he had a beard necklace, strangely enough this man looked like Prometheus. The only notable physical difference was the matte skin tone of this man. After a few moments the man sat on a chair in front of the bed.

- How are you, kid?

Prometheus did not answer.

- So you can't speak...

While smiling, the man began to make great gestures with his hands while articulating every syllable of every word.

- Me friends. Me nice. You don't understand?

Prometheus laughed at the man's burlesque attitude for a brief moment.

- HAAA. Well, it sounds like you understand me, kid..... Why do you live on the street? Don't you have any parents?

After a brief moment of reflection Prometheus decided to speak with this stranger. After all, he had just helped him, a homeless child with nothing. Maybe with any luck Prometheus could stay at the man's house to rest.

- Yes... I... I don't have any parents.

- Where are they?

- Dead.

- And why do you live outside you have no family.

- All dead.

The man looked Prometheus in the eyes and then got up from his chair. "It's your lucky day, kid, you can stay here and rest until you get your strength back. Then come find me and ask Jeanne." After pronouncing this name, a woman in her thirties entered the room. She was wearing a classic cleaning lady's outfit. Jeanne bowed and went to a corner of the room. The man left without saying his name.

***

The days passed and looked alike. Almost 2 weeks had passed since Prometheus was resting. Since then, Prometheus had not seen his savior again. Instead, it was the servant Jeanne, whom Prometheus saw every day. She brought him food every day. In the morning, she would come with black bread and a carafe of water. Prometheus usually slept at that time, so Jeanne put the bread on Prometheus' bedside table. Otherwise at noon she would bring a hot soup with a starchy food and meat. Prometheus quickly noticed that Jeanne always arrived at the same time of the day, taking care not to arrive one second late. It was therefore after two weeks of rest that Prometheus began to reflect on the identity of his benefactor.

- First of all, he must be rich... otherwise he wouldn't offer me a good meal every day and... he must be an important person. Otherwise he wouldn't have such a well-trained maid, so he must have secrets... But which ones. RHHHA I may be looking, but I can't find anything..... I might as well focus on my recovery.

The fact that Prometheus could not think about the identity of his benefactor was in fact logical. Because by using a rank 1 spell and then a rank 0 Prometheus camouflage spell had seriously damaged his mana brains.

We must understand what the mana brains consist of, because they are the most precious thing a magician has. Without it, a magus is no longer magus, in fact he is nothing. Normally everyone born with a mana nucleus, the size of nuclei varies according to the individual but it is not important, for the man aspiring to become a mage. All magus are forced one day to migrate their mana nuclei to their brains, more precisely to brain areas 6 and 4, also called primary motor cortex. Once the mana nuclei are implanted in areas 6 and 4, an operation is carried out and these brain areas become the mana brain. Thanks to the mana brain, which was once used only to control the body's movements, the magus arrive controlled the mana according to their desires. Of course, controlling mana is not as simple as it seems, and it takes time to adapt to the body after the creation of the mana brain. In addition, to perform a powerful spell you need to strengthen the mana brain, and this requires exercise.

But let's go back to Prometheus. The difficulty Prometheus felt, when he tried to think, was actually due to the damage he had inflicted on his mana brain, because of the use of rank 1 spells. To sum up, the electrical signals from Prometheus' brain were having trouble making their way so Prometheus was having trouble for thinking, moving and having anything else that required a brain. During the first days of his convalescence Prometheus could not even eat by himself. Without the help of this mysterious man Prometheus would probably starve to death like his mother, in agony and regret.

But after two weeks of rest Prometheus began to heal, slowly but surely. But unfortunately unless Prometheus receives outside help he would risk ending up like the last time injured forever. But he still had hope that the wound he had made was still healable but he should have resorted to a mana brain care position of extreme quality, and he should do so in the years to come.

Prometheus lay down on the bed and closed his eyes. After two to three minutes of concentration, Prometheus succeeded in making a mental map of his mana brains. Without the two weeks of rest he would not have been able to do, but thanks to the food and comfort of his room Prometheus had recovered a lot. After observing for 5 minutes the Prometheus mental map comes to a conclusion.

- I can't heal more than that. I have reached the possible limit of restoration of the human body... I should be counted as the same. 50% healing without medical care is incredible if not impossible. But... that's the problem. It's impossible! I have to meet this man with red hair, if he has helped me restore my mana brain, I have to thank him even more.

Prometheus' aloud reflection was interrupted by a bell ringing.

DONG.

This noise repeated itself 12 times. It meant that it was noon, which was lunchtime for Prometheus. As usual Jeanne arrived at noon sharp with a tray in her hands. On the tray there was water, chicken soup and white bread, for Prometheus, who was supposed to be a young homeless child, this meal could be considered a luxury. But for Prometheus the terrifying archimage at the thousand fire this meal was at best passable. In his previous life Prometheus had succeeded in reaching the archimage levels. An archimage, although crazy and demonic, was not a negligible person. In the magical society there were several honorary ranks and the archimage rank was one of the most important. He had 6 ranks:

The first rank, bewitcher, actually meant anyone who could cast a spell of rank 0, which in fact was quite easy. Anyone with a normally constituted mana nucleus was able to do so.

The second rank magus apprentice, referred to people capable of casting spells of rank 1. To do this it was necessary to have a mana brain. The spells of rank 1 unlike the spells of rank 0, which was performed through gestures and incantations. Was actually executed thanks to the mana brain and the affinity with the elements. The apprentice magicians were in fact students of magic schools or former students who had failed or subscribed to their studies.

The third wizard rank, in fact, was not so different from the apprentice magician rank, the only difference was that a wizard could perform spells of rank 2. Of course, performing a spell of rank 2 was anything but easy, you had to have a very developed mana brain and that involved very tedious training exercises. The wizard was often people who had subscribed to magic and who had been converted into possionerie or another profession of magic craftsmanship. Nevertheless, wizards remained extremely dangerous and effective in combat.

Then there was the magus. Each magus had his speciality, warrior magus, alchemist, illusionist or teacher of magic schools. A magus could actually do spells of rank 3 but above all could bond with a magi who could help him in his specialty. (The case of the magi is quite complex and would deserve a chapter). Not all magus had a magi and a magi was not necessarily an object with a soul. A sword, stamp or even a bed could be a magi one depending on its use. But the most important thing is to understand that the Magus were the eel stone of the magical society. He was competent and represented 20% of the magic society.

After the magus came the archimages. Monsters among mortals. They were overqualified in generally two areas of their choice and he had a mana brain of unimaginable power and speed. Cast a spell of rank 4 was an almost impossible task for the magicians and the archimages were able to merge with their magi.

Then he had the Magus king. To be a Magus King you not only had to be able to cast spells of rank 5 but you also had to be a very influential person. The Magi kings were sometimes real kings or high-ranking figures in the world of magic or politics. And to finish after the Magi kings there was another honorary title, that of Magus Emperor.

Sorry I thought this chapter was a little long so I decided to make you a little Cliffhanger.

What a wise man you will have in the next chapter.
