2 Chapter 2: Burning sparrow

An hour later.

Prometheus was walking, and seemed to be looking for something with his eyes, while mumbling. It was in the middle of the Long-bore forest, this forest was located somewhere in Cheerby town, where Prometheus had grown up, and where he had woken up.

- Not there... Not there... HO there... either.

Prometheus was looking for a bird's nest. But not just any one, he was looking for a burning bird's nest. The burning sparrows were very famous birds in the region, they had two characteristics that made them highly prized by the nobles. It was large and beautiful, the nobles liked to say that they looked like them, and this bird was often on the coat of arms of large families in the region, which made it a popular product.

- There! But first I have to make sure those stupid piafs aren't here.

Prometheus had planned to steal eggs from the burning sparrows and then sell them. The burning sparrow eggs could be sold for a very large sum. However, the reason for this high price was not because of the rarity of these birds, but because of the difficulty of stealing an egg.

- Those stupid piafs... they gave me a lot of trouble with my son. But I know how to handle it.

The burning birds were overprotective and paranoid birds. They never left their nests, and they were ready to destroy their own eggs, rather than leave them in the hands of a man. The burning piafs were actually very annoying. But Prometheus was used to it, in his previous life, when he was 11 years old Prometheus had started hunting for the egg of a burning bird. He had first encountered many failures and had been wounded several times. But at some point he understood how they worked. He knew what a burning bird would do in such a situation. Prometheus was therefore certain that he could steal several eggs.

- There is one bird in the nest. The other one can't be far away.

Prometheus tried to walk fast, despite his sick child's body. He had to hurry, and attack him or before the other burning bird arrived. Prometheus held two small stones in his right hand and a large stone in his left hand.

He stopped about 10 meters from the nest hidden under a tree, and imitated the crow's cry, while throwing a small stone at a branch of a tree, next to the nest of a burning bird.

The burning sparrow that seemed to be sleeping suddenly revealed itself, he got up, then turned around to see where the noise was coming from.

Prometheus I state his other little stone again in the same place.

The burning bird was of a protective nature, it took off and landed on the tree next to it and checked where the sound of birds and tree branches came from.

Prometheus took advantage of it, and threw the big stone with all these forces, before he started running. When the Big Stone hit the nest, it knocked it down. Prometheus standing below succeeded in grabbing him with his fingertips. He inspected the nest with his eyes before he started running again. In the nest there were three eggs.

The burning sparrow shouted and made turns around the tree. He didn't understand how his nest disappeared.

Prometheus had successfully escaped, now he had to sell these eggs. But instead of selling them all, he had a better idea. With the sale of a single egg of a bird's on fire, Prometheus could earn enough money to live and lodge himself, 2 to 3 weeks. He owned three eggs, but he had no plans to sell all three. He was only going to sell one, and keep the other two until they hatch, to sell burning bird babies. If all went according to plan, Prometheus would have enough money to live for at least two months.

Prometheus entered a store dedicated to animals. All the customers of the store watched Prometheus with disgust. Which in itself was not really surprising, Prometheus hadn't washed for months and his body was skeletal. He moved directly to the counter, where there was a young brown man who smiled at Prometheus.

-Hello, young man. Can I help you.

- Yes... do you know anyone who would like to buy a burning bird's egg.

The seller's eyes are glowing, with only one mention of these animals.

- A burning bird's egg. Do you have any?

Prometheus took an egg out of his pocket and put it on the counter. The trader caught it, and after a brief inspection, he began to talk.

- It's a real one. Where did you find it, young man?

- In the forest next door.

- Well, I could offer you a price. Hmmmm, let's say 100 kester.

The kester was the currency of the kingdom of Winkester where Prometheus lived. 1 Kester was equivalent to 1 euro.

- It's a little thin on the price. No ?

The merchant swallowed a laugh at the words of Prometheus. A beggar who spat on 100 Kester was a pretty funny scene to see.

- So how much do you want to sell it for?

- 600 Kester.

Prometheus wanted to sell it for 500 Kester. He had deliberately chosen to give too high a price.

- No, be realistic. 600 Kester is too much. I'll give you 400 and then again, I'm being nice.

- 400 Kester is too little. I think I'm going to see another merchant.

- No, wait, 600 is too much, but I can take it from you at 450 Kester.

- Increased the price to 50 kester and that's okay.

The merchant seemed visibly annoyed, but he forced himself to smile while accepting the Prometheus prize.

- It's a done deal.

Prometheus reached out his hand to the merchant, the merchant there looked, it was dirty and covered with a huge scar, the merchant caught it despite the disgust he felt.

After giving the egg, and receiving his money, Prometheus left the shops.

When the merchant would supposedly never use his left hand again.

Before leaving, Prometheus had asked about the price of a burning bird baby. It could be sold for 2000-2500 Kester. According to forecasts the Prometheus could win 6000 Kester by selling both. But before that, he had to find a place to live and eat. Prometheus

both. But before that, he had to find a place to live and eat. Prometheus thought of an inn, "The leprechaun, greedy", it was a place where Prometheus had stayed in his previous life.

Once he arrived at the greedy leprechaun, Prometheus went to the counter where there was a young woman in her twenties. When she saw Prometheus, she made a strange face, between disgust and curiosity.

- Can I help you, young man?

- I was told you were doing the lodging and eating.

- Yes, we do that, young man, but do you have enough money to pay for it?

Prometheus took out 50 Kester from his bag and handed them to the trader.

- Hold on for the first night.

- Hmm, but you see the price is made of 70 Kester.

Prometheus frowned, the shopkeeper tried to take advantage of his young age.

- It's strange but on your front it is well written that the all-inclusive formula is at 50 Kester.

- Did you read to yourself?

- Like everyone else.

- Yes. Butl, people like you... Hey, I'm sorry, sir, I must have had a blackout, the price is 50 Kester. The number of your room is 17. Please follow me.

The trader grabbed the coins that Prometheus had just placed on the counter and grabbed a bunch of keys with the number 17 written on them. She drove Prometheus to his room and then after giving him the keys left him alone in the room.

Before she left Prometheus asked her a strange question.

- What year is it?

Prometheus learned that he was 10 years old. After the departure of the merchant Prometheus inspected the room.

- A bed... toilet and shower... oh even the light. I'm getting my money's worth.

In the world of Prometheus, showers worked thanks to mechanics and magic. In power plants people were paid to make lots of water of rank 0. This water was sent through primary pipes and arrived in the Prometheus shower. In the area where Prometheus lived, the water was cold.

After cleaning his body, Prometheus sat on his bed and began to think.
